A person can various reasons problems arise with a removable disk on which important information is stored. The media might stop displaying files or become unreadable at all. There are several powerful specialized programs that can help solve this problem.

In what cases is it possible to restore a flash drive?

If something happens to your drive, remember that you can increase the chances of recovery if you do not:

  • perform reformatting;
  • overwrite new data;
  • create new folders.

Answering the question, is it possible to restore deleted files from a flash drive, you should understand that immediately after clicking “delete” the documents are not sent entirely to the trash. First, the data is erased from the drive’s file table, so using special software you can get it back. The exact same situation occurs with a hard drive on a computer, so reconstruction on it is also possible. There are several common reasons for data loss from removable storage:

  1. Human factor. In the course of rash actions, you yourself deleted the existing data from the flash drive. In this case it will be easiest to return them.
  2. File system failure. As a rule, it occurs when the media is incorrectly removed from the connector. In many cases, data recovery from a flash drive is then successful.
  3. Damage to the flash drive controller, electrical, mechanical damage. In case of such breakdowns, it is necessary to use a software and hardware complex in the laboratory. You cannot cope with this task on your own on a personal computer.

Data recovery by searching for hidden files and checking for viruses

Deleting data from a storage device can be done by malicious software viruses, which usually hide it. Restoring information from a flash drive in this case does not require special utilities, you only need good antivirus. To display “hidden” data you need:

  • Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Appearance and Personalization -> Folder Options.
  • Find the “View” section and select “Show” hidden files, folders and disks."
  • Open your removable device, if translucent documents or folders appear, copy the ones you need to a safe place on your hard drive.
  • Run your antivirus program.
  • Return display hidden folders again to the “Do not show...” position.

Program for recovering deleted files

You can find many options for different free data recovery programs. All of them are capable of finding documents even if they are erased, but are absolutely useless when the drive is broken. Some programs can find more lost data, others less. Below is a small rating of the most convenient, useful utilities with an overview of their use.

How to recover a flash drive with Undelete 360

A very easy to use utility that finds most lost data. It is distributed free of charge, but it must be downloaded from trusted sites, because attackers often plant viruses in installation file. After downloading and installing, you need to run it. Instructions on how to recover a USB flash drive:

  1. Run the drive test using the "Search" button.
  2. Next, all found data on the media will be displayed.
  3. Anything that has “Excellent” written in the “Status” column can be restored without any problems.
  4. Select all required items with a checkmark and click “Save”.

Recovering deleted files using CardRecovery

A person may inadvertently damage some of the documents on removable media when unsafely removing the device from the connector. Some viruses that disguise themselves as torrents can penetrate drives and hide the contents of folders. CardRecovery is a shareware utility for reconstructing lost data. It should be used as follows:

  1. Select the removable drive you want to check.
  2. Next, you are asked to select data types for reconstruction. For example, you could have a collection of photographs, then the utility will search only by graphic resolutions.
  3. Specify the location where to save the recovered files.
  4. Specify the total capacity of the memory card, start scanning.
  5. All found data can be viewed using the “Preview” button. Mark the required information and click “Next”.

How to recover a flash drive with Recover My Files

This utility can work and recover deleted files from a flash drive, hard drive. After launch, you can choose which action to perform - “Recover a Drive” and “Recover Files”. The first returns data from the recycle bin, and the second will help if you have formatted the drive. After this you need:

  1. In the menu, select the disk on which the recovery will be performed.
  2. The utility will prompt you to automatic search or manually select the data type.
  3. For optimal performance The “fastest” search method is enough.
  4. Click the "Start" button.
  5. All found data can be saved on the hard drive.

How to recover deleted files from a flash drive using PhotoRec

This is a professional utility for reconstructing photos from removable media. PhotoRec can recognize more than 200 different types graphic files. Previously, the utility did not offer GUI, the window was in the form of a DOS window, and selection could only be made using arrows; the English layout must be turned on. Recently graphic design implemented, working with it has become much easier. Instructions for use:

  1. Run in the folder with installed program photorec_win.exe.
  2. Select the drive you want to scan.
  3. If the program shows several partitions, it is better to select “No partition” and press the enter button.
  4. All found data will be stored in the recup_dir.1, recup_dir.2 folders.
  5. If necessary, you can stop the program at any time.

Recovering files with Recuva

Some utilities are especially popular because they find lost files more efficiently. An example of this is the Recuva flash drive data recovery program. Among others, this utility is distinguished by its ease of use and versatility, so it will be a suitable solution for most users. It works with all types of data and is distributed free of charge for home use. Downloading and installing Recuva is very simple: everything happens in automatic mode, you just need to indicate where to install it.

After startup, you must perform the following steps to recover data from a flash drive:

  1. After launching, it is better to select “Other” in the utility window.
  2. Through the “Browse” item, find the desired drive.
  3. To detect the maximum amount of data, select the “in-depth analysis” option, which can detect even overwritten files. Keep in mind that you can find it, but you can’t always restore it.
  4. After scanning, the program will show all the data found on the media. There will be a colored circle next to them.
  5. A green icon indicates that the file is not damaged, there is a maximum chance of a full recovery.
  6. A yellow icon indicates partial recovery. If this text document, then there may be spaces, only pieces will be displayed.

Hello friends, Alexey is in touch again! In the last article we met with hard drives computer. Also, we actively use flash drives; we can’t live without them. Probably everyone has one.

What to do if for some reason important data has disappeared from your storage device somewhere - how to restore it? Agree, the situation is unpleasant. Especially if there were important documents there. Many people are sure that it is impossible to recover files after deletion, but this is not true. If the “brains” of the flash drive are working properly, then the probability of saving data is almost one hundred percent. This is what our today's episode is about.

A flash drive is somewhat more reliable than conventional HDDs. In my practice, there are not many cases where they turned out to be of poor quality, defective and did not work. By the way, when purchasing, I try to choose classic shapes with a square metal USB connector.

I don’t like any newfangled devices in the shape of a soccer ball or super thin ones (with rhinestones and other trendy bells and whistles), because these are the ones they brought to me for repairs and they flew into the bucket. And the “classic shapes” have never let me down, even after repeated washing in washing machine:) The flight is normal!

In today's review, we will have a powerful but easy-to-use file and partition recovery tool. Namely, the program Hetman Data Recovery Pack. This universal package includes an extensive toolkit for solving various problems.

Is it possible to recover deleted files from a flash drive after formatting?

Usually, deleted files are looked for in the Recycle Bin, but what if the media is accidentally formatted? What if the deletion was configured “bypassing the trash?” Don't worry, the data can be saved. I would like to tell you a little about how data is written to flash drive type media. The recording principles here are the same as for a hard drive.

Imagine a sheet of paper on which a table is drawn with a pencil, and in the table there is some data. When you erase only the table columns and their names with an eraser, the data remains on the sheet. But they become meaningless without a table.

And on the media, its own table is created - it is called a file system. This is where your data is stored. This is a kind of coordinate system. You cannot write files without first converting the surface of the media to a specific format. This procedure is called "formatting".

Formatting flash drives is done in the same way as hard drives. Only flash drives have their own specifics; if you format it in the FAT16 or FAT32 32 file system, then only up to 2-4 GB of information will fit on it. And if in NTFS, then everything will be fine. Format large media to NTFS.

After formatting, we erase the table of contents on the removable media. The computer stops “seeing” our files and it “seems” that there is no data on the media. But they are still there. And when we copy new information onto such a “clean” flash drive, we overwrite the previous one with it, the restoration here may be incomplete.

So, if you didn’t write anything onto your storage device after it was lost or formatted, you can try to save your lost information completely using special programs. We will begin our acquaintance with one of these.

How to recover files from a flash drive after formatting or deleting?

Cannot be done before restoration low level formatting carriers. After this, it is impossible to restore data, because all useful information on removable media is replaced with zeros. This relatively long procedure is suitable for irreversibly destroying data.

So, Hetman Unreaser. Designed to recover deleted files. The developers recommend installing it before data “disappears” from the computer. P The program recovers files, deleted from hard drives personal computers and laptops, SD, MicroSD, Compact Flash, USB flash drives, etc. The utility will recover accidentally deleted files or files lost after emptying the Recycle Bin. True, the menu is in English, but these are minor things, because the result compensates for the inconvenience and here I will try to explain what and how.

Interface Hetman Uneraser resembles the My Computer window, which displays a list of existing and deleted files and folders. To restore information, just select the file and click the “Restore” button. It's as simple as opening the file in Explorer.

A distinctive feature of the program is the ability to make an image of a flash drive or restore it from an image. After launch, click Wizard (a wizard that will guide you through all stages of searching and recovering missing files. If the files have been deleted, the program will find the deleted files and folders. This is what it looks like if you opened the flash drive from the snap-in Computer:

The names of some folders and files will be saved. But this is not always possible. Right-click on the desired file/folder and click “Recovery” (i.e. restore):

The Wizard (or “recovery wizard”) will automatically launch and offer to save the files to hard drive, either burn it to a CD or upload it to FTP.

Please note that you cannot restore data to the same media (from which you are restoring it). It must be someone else in simple words- not your damaged media. Otherwise, the remaining information will be lost.

We specify the recovery settings - the path to save and restore the original structure of files and folders. This setting will allow you to return everything as it was if you had other folders and files in the folder:

All that remains is to wait until the end of the recovery process. It can be long. Below we have a list of physical disks (Phisycal Disks). We select our flash drive in this list when we cannot find anything through Computer. A deep scan of the entire surface of the selected media will be carried out.

The file recovery mechanism will be slightly different when choosing this mode. The program (depending on the type of files found) will generate its own separate folder and put what he found there. If you know the type of file you are looking for, leave the checkboxes next to the one you need, the rest can be unchecked. note that Hetman Uneraser “sees” lost databases. This is another important difference from some other programs. Thus, all found information will be restored. The scanning process takes quite a long time, we are waiting.

If the flash drive was bootable, you will no longer be able to restore it to its original state. Another important point is that the names of files and folders will most likely not be restored. The program itself will assign names to them during the search process. But these are trifles, the main thing is the content and the fact that the damage from the loss of information is minimal. It's a shame to lose several years of work in such situations. That's what programs like this exist for.

How to recover files from a flash drive if it requires formatting and does not open?

A fairly common issue is when the partition table (or file system) gets lost. We pull the media out of the slot at the wrong time. And now the flash drive is detected, but the information on it is no longer visible to us. As a test, I deliberately “killed” the partition on my drive. Now the computer convinces us that it needs to be formatted. But there is no need to do this yet.

As in the first case, our “coordinate system” was lost, but the files on the media remained the same. To restore them, you can use another set from the package Hetman Partition Recovery . The program recovers data from hard drives and any other storage media controlled by FAT and NTFS file systems.

When you start the program, the Wizard informs you that all data that was lost as a result of damage, deletion, formatting and the creation of new partitions will be restored. And also the logical structure of deleted files and folders will be restored. The next step is to select the media to be restored. As in the previous example, you can select a partition, or you can select a physical disk:

For quick search You can try to immediately find the deleted partition by clicking on the “Find Partition” button:

And to recover a large amount of data, we launch a full scan, which can take quite a long time. It all depends on the value of the information being restored, because you can wait:

The process has begun; The search results are displayed quite clearly and we see that there are indeed files and folders among those found:

The scan result will be like this:

All our files and folders are in place; we restore them according to the same principle as in the previous example. You can download a program to recover files from a flash drive. Also, watch a short video on how this program works:

In today's article we got acquainted with two programs from the Hetman set. And you can also safely use this set when working with hard drives. We will continue the review using the example of memory cards that we use in cameras and smartphones using special program. And that's all for today. Good luck!

When using any type of storage device, there is a chance that the information stored on it will be lost. The currently popular USB media, or, simply put, flash drives, are no exception.

Losing data from a flash drive is quite common. At the same time, often cleaning a flash drive occurs as a result of formatting, which was performed by the owner himself. Whether this formatting is accidental or intentional is not so important. A much more pressing issue is the possibility of recovering files and data lost after the operation. After all, many people use USB drives for storage. important information, the loss of which can sometimes have very serious consequences. And, as a result, knowledge of how to recover data after formatting a flash drive will definitely not be superfluous.

When is it possible to recover data from a flash drive?

Before describing the data recovery process itself, it is worth noting when this operation is possible at all. It is possible to recover deleted data from a flash drive if the drive was no longer used for writing files after formatting. The fact is that initially, when you delete a file from the media, it does not disappear anywhere. But with repeated use of a flash drive, it becomes almost impossible to extract initial information about a remote object. If you realize it some time later, having already used the flash drive a fair amount, then you can already forget about the erased files. If the USB drive has not been in active use, then the question of how to recover data after formatting a flash drive becomes much more solvable.

Recovery is also possible if only quick formatting media, which involves clearing the headers of the removable disk. If the flash drive has been deeply formatted (firmware), then in this case the chances of returning lost files tend to zero.

Software for data recovery from flash drive

Developers software They have long taken into account the fact that the need for data recovery after formatting removable drives will become widespread. Today, users are provided with several programs with which they can perform the recovery procedure. In our article today we will look at working with several similar applications - Active@ File Recovery, R-Studio and Easy Recovery, which are most often used in Windows OS. One of the methods for data recovery in the Ubuntu operating system environment will also be described.

In general, all the proposed programs are quite similar to each other and can be equally successfully used for data recovery. Therefore, the choice will most likely be dictated solely by the preferences of a particular user.

Recovering data from a flash drive using Active@ File Recovery

The Active@ File Recovery program, as you might guess from the name, is initially designed to recover data after formatting or deleting partitions (in the case of a hard drive). The application supports a large list external drives, among which are CompactFlash, Secure Digital, MultiMedia Card, Sony Memory Sticks, etc. Another undoubted advantage is the ability to work with the most common file systems - NTFS, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32. And most importantly, the application can work with drives with a capacity of more than 8 GB.

The licensed version of Active@ File Recovery is distributed on a shareware basis. You can use the free version or, if you wish, expand the functionality by paying the developers $34.95. But for one-time data recovery from a flash drive, it is quite enough free version applications.

Process Active installations@File Recovery is a standard procedure, so there is no point in describing it. It’s better that we don’t bother you anymore and move on to the actual story, during which you will learn how to recover data after formatting a flash drive.

Launch the Active@ File Recovery program and find the SuperScan item in the toolbar. Click on it, thereby starting the process of scanning the victim as a result of formatting the media. The duration of the scan depends on the volume of the drive, but particularly impatient users can, in principle, interrupt it at any time - the flash drive will not suffer from this, but the chance of detection necessary files will not be like the example below.

After scanning is completed, the SuperScan folder will appear in the list of drives located on the right side of the program window, in which the detected files will be located, grouped by type. For further recovery, you just need to select the required file types, select them and click the Recover button on the toolbar.

Please note that the recovery will take place not to a flash drive, but to the computer’s hard drive. And before starting the recovery, you will need to specify the path to the folder in which the recovered files will be saved. After recovery, you will also need to manually restore object names, since Active@ File Recovery is not responsible for this.

Data recovery using R-Studio program

The R-Studio application, unlike Active@ File Recovery, has a little more functionality and may appeal to those who appreciate the presence of additional “goodies” in the software they use. According to some observers, R-Studio is the best program for data recovery. However, the list of program tasks is not limited to recovery alone.

So, if Active@ File Recovery is mainly designed to work with file systems most often found in the operating environment Windows systems, then R-Studio can work with other types of file systems. Their list includes - NTFS, NTFS5, FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, HFS, HFS+, UFS1, UFS2, EXT2FS, EXT3FS, etc. Using R-Studio, you can also analyze the state of the hard disk surface, create an image, restore damaged arrays, and much more. That is, it is a full-fledged disk utility with a huge number of supported tasks.

But let's return to our question - how to recover data after formatting a flash drive. After installing and launching the program, a list of drives will open to your attention, from which you need to select your “patient”. By analogy with the previous paragraph, you need to select the “Scan” item on the toolbar. During the process, a dialog box will open where you will be asked to select scanning options (for example, you can specify a specific type of file to search for). Next, you will need to confirm your choice and begin the scanning process.

Again, as in the case of Active@ File Recovery, after scanning, a folder called Extra Found Files will appear in the list of available drives. Select this item, mark the files you are interested in and click the “Recover” button. Specify the recovery path and wait until the procedure is completed. Again, there is nothing complicated.

Recovering data using the Easy Recovery utility

The Easy Recovery application can also be successfully used if someone accidentally formatted a flash drive (of course, they don’t yet know how to recover data).

Easy Recovery may have a more modest set of features than those described above R-Studio program, however, this minimalism also has its advantages. At least in terms of ease of use, this utility can be considered a leader (although it cannot be said that all the data recovery programs described above are too sophisticated).

The program is designed to recover data lost as a result of formatting a flash drive, hard drive, floppy disk (if anyone else uses one today), which uses the FAT or NTFS file systems. EXT format systems, common in Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora and other Linux operating systems, cannot be restored in this case.

Install and run the program on your computer. A menu will open for you quick launch in which you will need to select Data Recovery, then Format Recovery. In the list of available drives, mark your flash drive and indicate the type file system, in which it “stayed” before formatting (usually FAT32). Click Next and wait for the scanning process to complete.

At the end of the check, another menu will open to your attention, in which you will need to mark the files that need to be restored. After this, click Next and wait until the recovery procedure is completed.

Recovering data from a flash drive in Linux

All the methods described above are applicable if you are an active user of the Windows operating system (regardless of the version). But it is not difficult to guess that the need for data recovery may also arise in operating systems running on the GNU/Linux kernel. In our review we will focus on the most popular Linux distributions.

Connect your flash drive to your computer. You will need PhotoRec, which is included in the Testdisk package, which may need to be installed separately. In the case of Debian, Ubuntu and its derivatives (Xubuntu, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, etc.), launch a terminal and enter the following command into it:

Sudo apt-get install tesdisk

Confirm your superuser rights using your password and wait for the installation to complete (the computer must be connected to the Internet). Next, run the Photorec application as root using the command:

Sudo photorec

Work with the application will be carried out in text mode through the terminal window. Photorec will offer you a list of drives, among which you will have to identify a flash drive. After this, the program will ask you to specify the type of partition table - select “Intel/PC pertition”. Under no circumstances select “Non partition media”! The next step is to mark the partition that will be restored. Click on Search, check the file system type of the flash drive and specify the directory into which your data will be restored. After this, press the Y key on your computer keyboard. The recovery process will start, during which all lost files will ultimately end up in the selected folder.

If you are using RH class Linux systems, which include Rad Hat, Fedora, CentOS, the recovery procedure will be similar. The only difference will be the installation of the Testdisk package, which in this case is performed using the commands:

Su yum install testdisk

Running Photorec as root will look like this:

Su photorec

Sudo photorec

On the Gentoo operating system, Testdisk is installed using the emerge package manager. The entered command in this case will look like this:

Sudo emerge testdisk

As noted above, the entire further algorithm of actions is absolutely identical to that described above.

How to Easily Recover Files from a Formatted Hard Drive

Often, the system of any device prompts you to format the drive. There can be many reasons - errors, incorrect removal of the memory card, the influence of virus software, etc. And so you took the plunge and formatted the flash drive. But the information from the media disappeared. And there were photos, important documents or other useful information. Don't be upset. In some cases, data can be recovered. It's definitely worth a try. It doesn’t matter what device you have - an Android smartphone or a tablet with Windows 10. Below we will tell you how to restore a flash drive after formatting.

In order not to do extra work and waste time restoring information after formatting, you need to understand when you can return lost files. Your chances of success are quite high if:

  1. The formatting was quick, not low-level (full). After all, in this case the data is not erased. Only the information in the headers is reset. After which the system marks all files as non-existent. But in reality they remain on the memory card. With low-level (full) formatting, all sectors on the flash drive are overwritten. That is, the carrier becomes free.
  2. After formatting, nothing was written to the flash drive (or memory card). Otherwise, new data “took” the place of old ones. This means that it will not be possible to return information that was stored on the removable drive before the formatting procedure. At best, you will only be able to recover some of the files.

What if a full formatting was carried out or after it the flash drive was actively used to write new data? Then you should understand that miracles do not happen. No recovery program will most likely cope with the task.

The best programs for data recovery

Currently, various software is being produced for . What programs can you recommend? There are many of them. But we advise you, after an “unsuccessful” formatting that resulted in the loss of important information, to use the following utilities:

  • R-Studio;
  • Easy Recovery;
  • RS File Recovery;
  • GetDataBack.

All of these programs are quite effective. True, they are seriously different from each other in interface. But the operating algorithm is similar for everyone. Therefore, it is not difficult to use such software. In addition, we will talk in detail about how to recover information from a formatted flash drive using various utilities.

Please note that you will find other recovery programs online. Many of them are paid. You can use them if you wish. Just remember that they are sometimes less effective than free programs, which you can easily download from the Internet.

A good utility that works with different file systems - HFS+, NTFS, FAT, etc. At the same time, it is easy to manage:

  1. Download and launch the program.
  2. On the left side, select the memory card with which we will work.
  3. Then click on the QuickScan button at the top of the window.
  4. The media structure appears. Deleted files will be marked in white.
  5. Simply select the data that needs to be restored and click on Restore.
  6. A window will pop up. In it we indicate the directory for saving. Click on the Recover button.
  7. All you have to do is wait a little and then find the recovered files in the previously specified folder.

Note that using the Active@ File Recovery program you can work with different media - micro SD, USB flash drives, hard drives of PCs and laptops. This is another plus of the utility. If we talk about the disadvantages, then these include the English-language interface and the fact that the free version has a limit on the amount of data that you recover.

How to recover deleted files using Recuva?

Another top utility for recovering information after formatting. Distributed free of charge. It's a little more complicated to use than Active@ File Recovery, but most people shouldn't have any difficulties:

  1. Let's launch the program.
  2. Select the media.
  3. We indicate the type of files that need to be “reanimated”. It is possible to choose between pictures, music, documents, etc. If there was a variety of data on the flash drive, we recommend checking the box next to “Other”.
  4. The next step is to indicate the location of the lost files. That is, a flash drive or memory card connected to the device.
  5. In the next window, check the box and activate the “Enable in-depth analysis” option. Due to this, the system will find more files to be restored.
  6. Let's start the search. That is, click “Start”.
  7. Once the program finishes searching for files, a window will appear. In it we are interested in the data highlighted in green. They are the ones who will most likely be able to be restored. By the way, red files are lost, and yellow files are damaged.
  8. So we select the files marked with green circles. At the very bottom, click the “Restore” button.
  9. A window will appear in which we enter the folder to save. It is advisable that it is not a flash drive.

Recuva is an excellent utility. True, it will not help you if after formatting the media was actively used and new files were written to it.

Recovering data from a flash drive using the Photorec utility

The program has a rather specific interface. In some versions it resembles the command line. Therefore, many users ignore it. By the way, it’s completely in vain. Photorec helps to recover various data. Including after formatting. However, we recommend using PhotoRec 7.0. This modification is simpler and easier to use.

  1. Open the utility.
  2. Select a drive. Specify the file system.
  3. Click the Browse button and set the path to save the recovered data.
  4. You can also click on “File Formats”. Thus, choosing which files the program should restore.
  5. After all the manipulations, click Search and wait for some time.
  6. Recovery occurs automatically. And in the folder that you selected earlier. Whereas other programs, unlike Photorec, will first find files available for recovery and ask for confirmation of the procedure. So take this feature of the utility into account.

Will R-Studio help me recover deleted files after formatting?

How to recover data using this utility? Let's look point by point:

  1. After launching, in the main panel, select the removable disk from which we will “return” the data. Click the “Scan” button.
  2. Next, you can specify a specific file type. For example, you only need to recover photos. Since you don’t need the rest of the information that was stored on the flash drive before formatting. Then click on the “Known file types” item (on the right). Then we make a selection.
  3. We're done with all the settings. Click “Scan”. In the disk panel under the selected flash drive, the “Extra Found Files” section will be displayed. Let's go into it.
  4. A directory with the recovered data will appear here. Check the boxes for the files you want to save. Click on “Restore”.

A brief overview of the Easy Recovery utility for recovering files after formatting

It cannot be said that this is the most convenient and effective utility of all those listed. However, it stands out for its clear interface and Russian-language menu. How to restore a flash drive and all contents after formatting using this program? Just follow the following algorithm:

  1. First of all, we launch the utility.
  2. Select the media type. The list will include hard drive, memory cards, optical discs, etc.
  3. Next we indicate what happened to the data. That is, whether they were deleted or formatted.
  4. We check the specified parameters. Click “Continue”.
  5. We are waiting for the end of the scanning process.
  6. After which the file structure of the flash drive will be displayed on the left. All data will be divided into folders according to the file type. Those that can be restored will be highlighted in green.
  7. Now you need to save the found files. Therefore, select them, click the auxiliary mouse button and select “Save...”. All that remains is to specify the folder to save the recovered information.

Learning to work with RS File Recovery

Next in our review of programs for recovering data on a flash drive after formatting is a utility called RS File Recovery. Perhaps this is not the most convenient and popular “master”. Largely due to the fact that in the free version of the program you cannot save found files. However, this does not bother some users. Therefore, we will be happy to tell you how to use this utility to recover data after formatting a memory card or flash drive.

  1. Let's launch the program.
  2. On the left side, click on the desired media.
  3. Next, check the “Deep analysis” item. Otherwise, in the “Normal Scan” mode, many files that were deleted during formatting may not be found.
  4. Select the type of information to be restored. We recommend that you simply select “All files”.
  5. Then the recovery wizard will prompt you to specify additional criteria. For example, you can narrow your search by file size or date.
  6. Let's start scanning. We are waiting for it to finish. As a result, a list of found files will be displayed. We select what we want to restore. Click “Next”.
  7. The program will only ask you to select a place to save the data. It may also require you to enter a pre-purchased license key.

How to recover data from a flash drive using GetDataBack?

Working with this utility is easy. Everything is similar to the programs described above. Although if you need detailed instructions, then we will tell you about each step of data recovery:

  1. Open GetDataBack.
  2. Select the media type information. All available drives will be displayed on the left.
  3. The next step is also standard. You need to specify the file system type of the flash drive. Then click “Next”.
  4. A report on the scanned media will appear on the screen. All found files will be arranged “on shelves”. In some ways it will remind you of Windows Explorer.
  5. We mark the data that needs to be restored. Open a window using the right mouse button. Select the “Save” item.
  6. The last step is to specify the path to save the recovered files.

For reference! Is it possible to recover data from a flash drive using standard Windows tools? Yes. For example, using the built-in CHKDSK utilities And command line. True, it is better to use such tools when the media has not been formatted, but let’s say system errors, interfering with the display of files.

Situations in life can be different, and sometimes you can lose very important data. Fortunately, it is quite rare that this is irreversible and in most cases it can be easily fixed. The main thing is to have the right software and the right information.

Software developers try to make life as easy as possible for users. Therefore, today products have begun to appear that allow you to treat the file system. What is especially noteworthy is that you do not need to have special skills or knowledge to do this.

Possible causes of data loss

Data can be lost for various reasons:

Important! Try to use a basket to avoid problems.

  • viruses. Another equally common cause is viruses and Trojans. They can independently make changes to the file structure;
  • clipboard. Sometimes problems may arise when using the cut function;
  • problems with the media. If a flash drive or hard drive starts to act up, some data may be lost.

In the first and third cases, there is a high probability of success. If viruses or disk problems are involved, then you should not hope for a positive outcome of the operation.

File recovery algorithm

File treatment hard systems disk, regardless of the selected software, works according to a single algorithm.

It looks like this:

Depending on the software you select, the scanning process may vary. More professional versions work with clusters, which allows you to achieve maximum results. Relatively simple samples work with temporary data.

A clear example of formatting a flash drive with subsequent data recovery

Often problems happen with flash drives and they have to be formatted. What to do if important data is located there. Fortunately, everything can be easily fixed.

Let's look at data recovery after formatting a flash drive in the most visual form:

Data Restoration

There are many different programs to perform this operation. Each of them has certain characteristics. Next, let's look at the most popular ones today.

Video: Recovering deleted files

This utility allows you to revive files even after deep formatting. However, it can only be used in cases where the disk is operating in normal mode. To do this we do the following:

As a rule, this utility is not always effective if there are problems with the media.

Recuva

As a rule, operating system does not physically destroy files. That is, information about this content is contained in a special table. It can only be erased if a recording is made in their place.

Experts advise connecting the hard drive (or similar media) to another computer before restoring data. This is true in cases where the problem is caused by viruses.

Important! Try to restore immediately after data loss.

When the program starts, it begins to scan the media for the presence of destroyed files (both FAT and NSTS systems are suitable). Those files that can be 100% recovered will be highlighted in green. Red lighting means that they are destroyed irrevocably.

Usage procedure Recuva programs looks like this:

Take note of several preventive measures to avoid such problems:

  • use high-quality antiviruses. Remember to keep them updated;
  • Defragment your hard drive regularly;
  • use utilities to treat the file system;

How to recover data after formatting a disk in R-Studio

This program is quite powerful because it uses effective methods scanning. However, even he is not able to give 100% results. There is always a chance that the procedure will end unsuccessfully. For example, if clusters are damaged, it will be powerless.

However, negative results are still less common than positive ones. In most cases, superficial formatting takes place, which leaves the information cells untouched. If low-level formatting was applied, then the chances of saving the data are zero.

Tip: use the Victoria utility to check disks for defects. It provides maximum detailed and accurate information.

The above-mentioned R Studio utility allows you to restore:

  • data erased from the recycle bin;
  • destroyed as a result of bypassing the recycle bin (key combination);
  • damaged (partially) media. Of course, in this case the chances of success are much less;

However, the developers assure that in any case the chances of success are high.

The process of using this program is as follows:

What could not be saved, you can try to return it using other software. If this does not bear fruit, you should take the disk to service center. Specialists, having the right equipment, will be able to bring it back to life.

As you can see, there is nothing wrong with unexpected file deletion. With a little effort and patience, you can easily return everything to the way it was. To avoid such problems in the future, try to regularly diagnose your media.
