Sometimes, due to certain life circumstances, it is necessary to install an operating system. Quite often, users discover that the sound has disappeared after reinstalling the system.

The likelihood of a situation that after Windows installations 7 the sound disappeared, alas, this is far from uncommon. Fortunately, it can be solved quite simply if you know exactly the reason.

Possible reasons

There may be several reasons for the sound to disappear. The main ones are hardware errors, that is, a malfunction of the sound card. In this case, you cannot do without specialized help. Or there are problems in the software, and specifically, in the lack of drivers for the sound card.

If the problem is with hardware, then you are unlikely to be able to solve the problem without special equipment and skills. Solving software problems is much simpler and does not require special knowledge and skills. To do this, you just need to confidently use the computer and not be afraid of it.

Solutions options

So, if after installing Windows 7 there is no sound, then the first thing you need to do is check the connection of the audio system to the computer, and also that the audio system you are using is selected in the settings. The check is as follows:

If the audio system is turned on and in use, but there is still no sound, then the most likely reason why the sound may disappear is that after reinstalling Windows 7, the drivers for the sound card or audio device were not installed. This problem is not so terrible and quite easily solved.

Finding and installing drivers

There are several ways to return sound after reinstalling Windows; the easiest way is to install control program distributions from the media that comes with the device; it contains all the necessary drivers. But if it happens that there is no disk, you can install drivers using standard means Windows.

So, to convince the OS to reinstall the drivers, follow the path indicated in the address bar of Explorer: “ Control Panel» → « System and security" → "". And select " device Manager».

After completing these steps, the following window will appear:

In the window that appears, select “ Sound, video and gaming devices " and from the list that opens, select the desired system by double-clicking on the name. A properties window will appear in which you need to select the “ Driver».

In this window, you need to select the Update... button, and in the window that appears, click on the item “ Automatic search updated drivers" After this, Windows will begin to search for the program on the Internet and update or install it if such a need exists.

Manual installation

If built-in Windows service told you something like “The installed software for this device does not need to be updated,” this does not mean that you actually have it installed and does not need to be updated.

If you just installed the system, then there are no audio drivers there. But the system simply failed. Also quite often the service automatic update cannot find the necessary software, in this case the direct path is to manually search and install the necessary programs.

To do this, the first thing you need to do is decide what sound card you have installed. If your card is integrated into the motherboard, then most likely it is from Realtek, which means that you need to go to the manufacturer’s website and download the necessary software there. Device Manager identifies built-in cards as High Definition Audio Device.

But since you may have another audio card, it’s better to find out which one in advance. To do this we follow Start, we find " Execute" and write in the search bar " dxdiag" and click OK.

In the window that appears, go to the “ Sound" (sound).

Line " Name"(name) will tell you what card you have installed. After that, feel free to go to the manufacturer’s website and download latest version Software for your card.

After installing the software, restart the computer and check for sound.

Using driver packs

If you have already tried everything, but after reinstalling Windows 7 the sound still does not work, then you have two options. The first is to take the computer to a service center or use a specialized software to install drivers, for example, . It is better to download it from the official website.

After launch, the program will diagnose the system and indicate those drivers that need to be updated. It will also select the software recommended for installation. Among other things, it will contain Avast And Yandex.Browser, if you don’t need this happiness for nothing, find the button at the bottom of the window Switch to expert mode and manually configure what should be installed.

Feel free to install all the recommended drivers, but here are the software and programs that DRP suggests deleting, better viewing and changing the settings to those that suit you. The program may remove something you need.

Windows 7 Sound Service Problems

Sometimes the drivers are really fine, but problems arise because the audio service does not start. First, try changing the system sound a couple of times:

Hardware problems

If all the previous methods did not bring the desired result, then most likely there are problems with the hardware. An audio card may fail due to the failure of some individual elements, and not the entire board as a whole. But this will not reassure owners of integrated cards at all. The built-in cards are not repairable, so if it fails, you will have to buy a discrete sound card.

Discrete cards, as a rule, can be repaired, but try to fix them yourself this device Without the appropriate skills and equipment, it’s not worth it; most likely, you will only make the situation worse and spend much more money than if you gave the card to professionals.

Reasons for refusal:

  • overheat;
  • burnout;
  • raw contacts;
  • broken conductors;
  • broken plugs;
  • loose soldering;
  • developer error or manufacturing defect.

To extend the life of your computer, clean it several times a year. This will allow the cooling system to perform its function most efficiently and problems such as overheating and damp contacts will most likely not affect you.

However, the lack of sound is not always a consequence of the fact that the audio card has failed. The first step is to check the functionality of the audio system; to do this, simply connect other speakers to the computer.

Also, cords can fail, replacing which is not difficult, this is especially true for headphones.

It is not always possible to determine at home without equipment whether the audio card has really failed or whether there is a problem with another device. Therefore, you should not panic right away; it is best to make a diagnosis in service center, as well as update your computer software.

Video on the topic

Hello dear visitors. After installation operating system, in most cases this is Windows 7, the question arises, what to do next, what needs to be configured and installed? I can’t even count how many times I’ve installed Windows 7 and I’ve already developed a habit whereby I set up the newly installed operating system and install the essentials that an average user needs.

Now I will tell you what needs to be done first after installing the operating room Windows systems 7.

So, you, everything works, everything is loaded, now let's start setting it up.

Activate the operating system.

First of all you need Activate Windows 7. It doesn't matter how you do it, the main thing is to do it :). So that after thirty days the operating system does not start issuing activation warnings. Of course, it all depends on what you choose. It may be that immediately after installation, Windows 7 is automatically activated.

Right-click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties. At the bottom of the page there will be information on activating the OS. If you see the message that Windows 7 is activated, then everything is ok, you can move on to another item.

Well, if you see messages like “XX days left. to complete the activation." Then you need to activate the operating system. I think you know how to do it :). WITH Windows activation 7 There shouldn't be any problems now.

And one more thing, if a computer “wizard” installs your operating system, be sure to check whether it is activated. I have seen cases where no one activates anything, probably in order to get a client again after 30 days.

I also turn it off, but this is optional.

Checking and installing drivers.

Then I check if all drivers are installed on the system. Based on my observations, I can say that in Windows 7, problems most often arise with the video adapter (video card) driver. If the system itself was unable to select a driver for the video, then this is immediately noticeable. The quality of the picture on the screen is not very good, everything is big and there is no Aero effect (no transparent elements).

In order to check which drivers are installed and which devices are not recognized, you need to go to the device manager.

Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop and select Properties. In the window that opens, go to “Device Manager”.

If everything is normal, and all devices are recognized by the system, then you will see something like this:

If there are unidentified devices, or problems with some drivers, they will be displayed with yellow exclamation marks.

If you have such problematic devices, then you just need to install the driver from the disk that came with your computer. Or download the driver from the manufacturer's website.

One small nuance, it may happen (more precisely, it almost always happens) that Windows 7 will install a standard driver for the video adapter. It will not appear as unidentified device. But in this case, your video card will not work at its full capacity. Therefore, you definitely need to install the video driver from the disk, or again download it from the manufacturer’s website.

In laptops, I also noticed problems with drivers for LAN, WLAN, etc. All of them can be installed without problems from the disk that comes with the laptop.

Install antivirus.

After you have figured out the drivers, it is advisable to install an antivirus. Which one should I install? Whatever you want, I install NOD 32, I like it the most. After installation, the antivirus also needs to be activated and updated. The keys can be easily found on the Internet.

Browser and Flash Player.

If the computer is connected, or will connect to the Internet, then you need to install a browser. For example, I prefer Opera, but you can install your favorite one. In principle, Windows has a standard Internet, but you won’t get far with it :).

In order to play video on websites and listen to music on VKontakte, you need. You can download it from the official website http://get. adobe. com/ru/flashplayer.

Installing additional programs.

Next I install the Microsoft Office package, everyone needs it. If you do not want to buy such an expensive product, and do not want to use an unlicensed product, you can install OpenOffice, it is free and decent Microsoft replacement Office.

Multimedia.

Standard Windows Media Player cannot play all video and audio file formats. Therefore, I immediately advise you to install a replacement for it. I install AIMP to play music, and KMPlayer to play video. These two programs do an excellent job, at least I have never had any problems with them. You can download them from the Internet, it won’t be difficult.

So this means: The operating system is activated, the drivers are installed, the antivirus is running, documents, videos and music open. Well, that's all, now we have a fully working and configured computer.

Perhaps you can still speed it up a little.

To do this, you can defragment the disk and clean the startup list, I already wrote about this. Good luck!

This article describes how to install or reinstall Windows 7.

Before installation begins, you need to complete several preparatory steps. At the beginning of the article we have placed detailed content so that you can quickly view the entire sequence of actions and move on to the necessary part of the instructions.

If you are interested in a specific question (such as installation errors, how to enter and configure the BIOS, etc.), the links in the content will take you directly to it.

If you are a beginner, then simply follow the guide from start to finish: each point is described in as much detail as possible and includes links to supporting instructions.

What should be ready before installation

Review the list below to ensure your computer and system are ready to install or reinstall Windows 7 and follow the steps required to complete the preparations.

What types of installation are there, how to save personal files and programs

There are two types of installation:
  • Complete reinstallation of the operating system (OS), when the partition is completely erased hard drive(or the entire disk), including all your programs, documents and files.
  • An OS update that only updates system files.
Updating the OS has a number of disadvantages. Therefore, it is recommended to carry out complete reinstallation system, and for this you will need to save all personal files and program settings.

If you haven't done this yet, read the article on preparing for installation, from it you will learn:

  • how to save all important personal data;
  • what programs will be needed immediately after installation and where to download them;
  • is it possible to copy installed drivers where to find drivers after installation;
  • analysis of some special cases;
Save all data and proceed to the next step.

How to legally download the original image of Windows 7 x64 or x32 for free.

Download original image can be done legally using the program « Windows ISO Downloader": the file with the Windows image will be downloaded with Microsoft official website.

Program file "Windows ISO Downloader" with version 5.21 (dated September 20, 2017) is attached to the article (to the right of this text).
How to download the image correctly is shown in the figure below:

Select the Windows 7 partition, then the desired edition Windows image 7 and the “Confirm” button.

Attention!
We strongly we do not recommend use Windows 7 builds - use only original system images.

Microsoft has several aircraft hangars with a variety of equipment designed to test the operation of the operating system on various combinations of devices. Therefore, the official OS image works correctly for the vast majority of users.

The authors of assemblies do not have such testing capabilities, so a certain percentage of users will experience problems during the operation of the assembly, which can only be resolved by completely reinstalling Windows.

Which image version to choose: 32 bit or 64 bit

Everything is very simple: a 64-bit OS is needed in two cases: so that the computer can “see” 4GB or more of RAM and so that you can work with “heavy” programs or games. Attention!
Some new programs and games may not run on 32-bit Windows.
Conclusions:

  • If the amount of RAM is 4GB or more, feel free to choose x64 (64 bits).
  • If the computer is old and complex programs (for example, audio and video editors, design systems, multimedia packages) are not used, choose x32 (32 bits).
More information about the difference between a 32-bit and a 64-bit operating system is provided in this article.

The easiest way to see how much RAM you have is to right-click on the icon "My computer" → select item "Properties" V context menu.

The window that opens will indicate the amount of RAM, as well as the bit capacity of the system currently installed.

Which version of Windows 7 should I choose: Home, Professional or Ultimate?

There are different versions (editions) of Windows 7, some of which are very different in functionality. Read more about Windows versions you can read it.

Most often, when installing, they choose between versions of “ Professional " And " Ultimate ».
The best choice in terms of image version would be « Windows 7 Professional » .
But don’t worry if you have a different edition of Windows - the installation process will be similar.
In the edition " Professional » unlike "Ultimate" there are a number of services that most users will never use.
You probably haven't even heard their names: DirectAccess, Unix Application Launch Subsystem, BranchCache, BitLocker, etc. Accordingly, hard disk space version « Professional » will take less.

How to properly burn an image to a DVD or USB flash drive?

If you have already recorded the image and the installation from it went smoothly, then you can immediately move on to the next chapter. If you do not know which programs can be used to burn an image to a disk or flash drive, then the following auxiliary articles will help you: Please note that installation from a flash drive is more reliable and is also faster. If you have a flash drive with a capacity of 4GB or more, then it is better to install from it.

Windows reinstallation process.

So, preparation for installation is complete: all personal data has been saved, the media with the operating system distribution has been created, and the partition on which the image will be installed has been prepared.

Setting boot device priority in BIOS

  1. Restart your computer and enter the BIOS.
    • on personal computers Most often, buttons are used to enter the BIOS « DELETE» (« Del»), « F2", "F1", "Esc»
    • on laptops - keys « F8", "F9", "F12", "Esc»
  2. After going to the BIOS, you need to find the menu section responsible for installing devices to boot the OS.
    The partition may be located in different places (depending on the type of motherboard and BIOS version), so you need to find the menu « FIRST BOOT DEVICE », « BOOT » or « BOOT DEVICE ».
  1. You need to go to this section of the menu and set the drive to first place DVD or HDD(your Flash drive) depending on what media the image was recorded on.
  2. After this, you need to exit the BIOS and save the changes.
    Most often, to save changes, you need to press the key before exiting. « F 10" , and then confirm saving by pressing « Y » or by selecting « Yes » in the dialog box.
If you have difficulty entering the BIOS, saving changes, or finding boot device priority settings, then read the article about setting parameters in the BIOS.

In the article you will find instructions with examples:

  • how to enter BIOS or UEFI with examples of different BIOS screens.
  • how to find the option "BOOT DEVICA PRIORITY".
  • table with a list of keys for entering the BIOS on laptops from different manufacturers.

Autorun Windows installation from a DVD or flash drive

If you did everything correctly, then after restarting your computer you will see the following:

  • if you are using DVD media, you will see the message “Press any key to load from CD...” (press any key to boot from CD). You must immediately press any key, because after a short amount of time (about 10 seconds) the boot will begin from the next boot device installed in the BIOS.
  • if you used a flash drive, the installation will begin immediately
Remember!
When installing an operating system, you should be careful and careful with functions that you do not fully understand.
The site administration is not responsible for the results of your actions.

Start installation

Attention!
Your computer may have gray and blue color. If you are installing the OS from a flash drive, be sure to plug the flash drive into the connector USB2.0 (gray), otherwise the installer may not see it.
You can judge that the operating system installer has started working by the line that appears at the bottom of the screen.

When preparation for installation is complete, you will see the message "Starting Windows" .
After this, the Windows 7 installation window will appear.

Selecting the installation type

  • A system update will allow you to reinstall Windows on top of your existing operating system.
  • A full installation will allow you to select an existing partition for installation or re-partition the hard drive. The system will be installed completely, so this option is more acceptable (we wrote more about installation types at the beginning of the article).

Figure 5. Selecting the operating system installation type.
Choose "Full installation ( additional options)», as shown in Figure 5.

Figure 6. Selecting a hard drive for further installation Windows 7.

Hard disk partitions for system installation

After going to full installation we will be presented with a list hard drives, on which you can create or select partitions for installation. At this step there may be several options for the development of events.

  • You only have one in your system hard drive.
  • You have a separate hard drive (possibly an SSD) where the operating system will be installed, and separate drives for storing data.
  • The installer does not see the hard drive or other errors occur (below are links to articles that discuss these problems step by step)
Attention!
If you have several hard drives, then transfer all important data to the drive where you will store personal files and disconnect it so as not to accidentally mix up the drives when creating partitions or formatting.
If you only have one hard drive (or SSD), then it is advisable to split it into parts (if the disk space allows it).

The disk must be divided into parts so that at least 50GB is allocated for the system, possibly even more, because for normal Windows operation 7, it is desirable that the system partition has at least 15-20% free space.
The disk is divided into partitions to make it easier to reinstall the operating system in the future.

For example, you have only 1 hard drive in your computer with a capacity of 500GB.

You split it into 2 parts: 120GB (disk " C:") and 380GB (Disk " D)

Now on disk « D you store music, movies, photos, program installers, folders with drivers, games, etc., and on the disk « C you install programs to work.

Files from the “Desktop” and “My Documents” folders are also stored on the disk « C:». When in the future you want to reinstall Windows, you just need to transfer (copy) everything important files from the desktop and other disk folders « C to disk « D, then do a complete reinstallation with disk formatting « C.
If the disk is not partitioned, then you will have nowhere to transfer data from the disk « C:», and you won't be able to format it.

Creating disk partitions

At this step, you can create partitions on your hard drive if:

  • the hard drive is not partitioned (new or all partitions were previously deleted);
  • There are no important files on the hard drive, and all information can be deleted.
New hard the disk is immediately displayed as a single partition and signed as “unpartitioned” (see Figure 6).
If you are going to repartition the disk (and all important files have already been transferred from it), then you need to:
  1. Sequentially delete all partitions of your disk using the button "delete" . Attention! All files on these partitions will be deleted!
  2. Select the unallocated partition that appears with the mouse, click the button "Create" (See Figure 6).
  3. Specify the size first for the system partition (which will be the disk « C ), then create a partition for the disk « D (and other disks if necessary).
If the disk was not allocated, the OS installer will additionally create a 100MB partition to store special system files.

Selecting a partition for installation

If disk partitions have been created previously:

  1. Select the system partition (on which the OS was previously installed).
  2. Click on the button "Format".
  3. After formatting, select the erased partition and click on the button "Next."
If the installer does not see the hard drive, requires a device driver, or other problems occur, then search for and resolve your error using these two articles:
  • Analysis of various types of errors when installing Windows 7 (including by code).
  • What to do if the installer does not see the device (drive, hard drive, keyboard or mouse, etc.).
In Figure 6 you can see an unallocated 35 GB disk.

Figure 7. Creating a partition on the hard drive
In our case, no partition has been created yet, so we need to click on the button "Create" (Figure 7), then indicate the volume of the partition to be created (Figure 8) and click on the button "Apply" .

Figure 8. Selecting the volume for a partition on the hard drive

Figure 9. Partition creation confirmation window
After this, the operating system installer will inform you that an additional partition will be created to store system files:

Figure 10. Installing Windows 7.
Click on the button "Next" after which the installation will begin (copying all system files and the process of setting up the OS).

The process of copying files will take 15-30 minutes and will not require any action from you.

Figure 11. Installation completion window
Once the files are copied and unpacked, the computer will restart.

At this point, you must remove the DVD or Flash drive from the computer, as the installation will continue from the hard drive to which the necessary files were copied.

After the reboot, you will see a window indicating that the installation is complete.

The completion process will take a few minutes, after which it will start initial setup operating system.

Completing Windows installation and initial setup

When the setup process is complete, you will be prompted to enter a username to create your account, as well as the computer name for subsequent network identification (under this name your computer will be visible in local networks Windows).

Next, you will be prompted to enter a password and a password hint. If you want to protect access to your account with a password, enter it. Or you can skip this step by clicking the button "Next" .

Very often, many users who for some reason had to reinstall the “seven” complain that afterward the computer slows down so much that it is simply impossible to work. Let's see what this might be connected with and discuss how to get out of this situation.

Why does my computer slow down after reinstalling Windows 7?

We will not dwell now on the reasons that prompted the user to install the “seven” again. Let's look at the problems that arise after this. Sometimes there is very strong slowdown, the Internet does not work after reinstalling Windows 7, there is an increased load on system resources or too frequent access to the hard drive, etc. What could cause this?

The very first thing that users of stationary computer terminals need to do is check the RAM strips and the connection density of the cables for motherboard. You never know, maybe in system unit A lot of dust has collected, which leads to braking and freezing of the system.

On the other hand, it may very well be that the user mistakenly installed the 64-bit version of the “seven” instead of the 32-bit one (alas, this also happens), and the computer or laptop itself uses outdated hardware, which hardly meets the minimum system requirements. So it turns out that after reinstalling Windows 7, the computer slows down only for the reason that 64-bit Windows is much more power-hungry than the 32-bit version. But this is, so to speak, a general case. Now let's move on to finding out the specific reasons.

What drivers are needed after reinstalling Windows 7?

The presence of outdated drivers in the system can be called a fairly common phenomenon, because pure “seven” is also not the latest product. Additionally, if the user does not have original disc with drivers, which must be supplied when purchasing a computer or laptop, the system installs the most suitable ones from its own database, which, to put it mildly, is completely irrelevant.

In this case, there is no need to rush after completing the OS installation process (sometimes some drivers may not work). It is better to use special releases or update programs. For example, very good option may become a driver database that it is advisable to always have on hand.

On the other hand, it “weighs” quite a lot. In such a situation, a free search utility called Driver Booster. It works just fine, and it updates the drivers of absolutely all devices only when you go to the official resources of the manufacturers, where, as a rule, the most current versions such software.

But there is one catch: if it is 7, installing this utility is simply pointless, since no update will occur if there is no connection (more on this a little later).

The load on system resources is too high

Now we need to pay attention to one more point. Quite often there is an increased load on the processor and RAM, which is the cause of braking or freezing. What to do? See what process is causing the maximum resource consumption (as you know, any version of Windows runs a huge number of unnecessary services by default, which can and should be stopped).

First, call the standard “Task Manager”. This is done using the familiar combination Ctrl + Alt + Del or by entering the taskmgr command in the special “Run” menu bar (Win + R). Here you need to sort the contents in the processes and services sections by maximum load, and then see which component is loading the system.

Next you need to configure autoload. To do this, we use the msconfig command in the same “Run” menu and on the corresponding tab we disable everything unnecessary. You can only leave the antivirus, if one is already installed, and the keyboard indicator (ctfmon process). We uncheck all other services without a twinge of conscience (most users don’t need them at all anyway).

Internet problems

Now let's see why problems with Internet access are sometimes observed. First of all, if you are using, say, Wi-Fi, you should make sure that the corresponding module is enabled on your computer or laptop (the latter have a special key combination (most often it is Fn + some kind of function button, say, F5 - it all depends on the model ).

If everything is fine here, you need to look into the settings of the TCP/IP protocol, which can be accessed through the Internet properties menu. In most cases, it helps to set the IP address to be obtained in automatic mode and disabling the use of proxies for local addresses, unless otherwise provided by the provider. If all the parameters are entered manually, you just need to check that they are correct.

Finally, it may very well be that network card has an outdated driver. Therefore, it needs to be updated. To begin with, you can use the system’s own tools located in the “Device Manager”, or, which is much better, install the driver from the package described above. IN as a last resort, you can copy the DEV and VEN values in the list of hardware IDs on the description tab, and then use special sites to search for the driver using these values, and then download it from another terminal that has access to the Internet.

What's the result?

Here, in fact, we have looked at the main reasons why the computer slows down after reinstalling Windows 7. Of course, not all situations that may arise are given here. However, these are the most common. As for what programs are needed after reinstalling Windows 7, this issue has already been partially addressed. However, you can also add an antivirus, an archiver, office suite, video and audio codecs and decoders, etc. But here the choice is up to the user himself. By the way, as an option, you can install some kind of automatic optimizer that will monitor the state of the system in real time and promptly unload unused or unnecessary processes from memory.

Disabling automatic updates in Windows 7

I disable this feature first. Firstly, it is annoying, since updates pop up almost every day. Secondly, I don't need it.

Over the past 4 years, Windows 7 has worked perfectly: there were no crashes or glitches, no viruses. And this is completely without updates. Therefore, in terms of PC security, everything is fine, and no vulnerabilities or holes particularly worry me.

By the way, it is definitely recommended to turn off this function if you have an unlicensed Windows 7 installed. Otherwise, activation will fail or even something worse will happen (there are smart people at Microsoft who regularly delight pirates with “pleasant” surprises in new updates).

An important point for laptop owners. Although you can also configure a power plan on your computer.

The default option is Balanced. If your computer is a gaming computer, or vice versa, it is too weak, you can enable the “High Performance” mode. To extend the laptop's battery life, there is an "Energy Saver" option. But performance in this case will be reduced.

You can also configure when to turn off the display and put the computer into sleep mode. To do this, go to Start – Control Panel – Power Options.
And in the new window, click on the line “Setting up a power plan” and select the desired option (you can also select “Never” here).

After this you need to configure Windows 7:

This is how you can configure Windows 7 after reinstallation. But that's not all. There is one more important point left.

Installing programs

After the primary Windows setup 7 has been completed, you need to install the programs. First of all, antivirus. You may also need:

  • new browser;

  • video and audio player;

  • Microsoft Office package;

  • video and audio codecs, etc.

That's it now. You were able to customize Windows after reinstalling, and it looks much nicer now. Yes, and it works faster. As you can see, setting up the operating system is not difficult.

And if you suddenly decide to reinstall it again, then from now on you already know what to do after installing Windows 7, right?
