My LG 32LN575U TV did not have such a remote control, but it supports working with it (the TV may not yet support LG Magic Remote).

But, if you have a smartphone (tablet) on iOS or Android, then you don’t need this expensive accessory in the form of a branded remote control! LG has created a special application called L G TV Remote. You can install this application on your smartphone or tablet. As far as I know, it is only available for Android and iOS.

Install the application and let's start connecting devices.

Connecting a smartphone to a TV

So, first we need your phone and TV to be Connected to the same network. Or will we use technology? "Wi-Fi Direct". Let's go in order.

If you have installed and configured Wi-Fi router, then this is very good. Your smartphone is probably already connected to it via Wi-Fi. Then all that remains is to connect to this same network. This can be done via Wi-Fi (there is information about this detailed instructions), or via cable from the router.

This means that our TV and telephone must be connected to the same network.

If you do not have a network (router) at home

In this case, you can connect your mobile device to TV using Direct technology. This technology allows devices to be connected directly.

LG TV Remote

So, if we have established a connection between devices, then we can launch LG TV Remote. Open the program on your smartphone and press the button "Device Scan".

The TV must be turned on!

If all is well, the program will find our TV. Let's choose it.

At this moment on the TV screen (bottom right corner) a code should appear.

Enter this code on your phone.

After this, a window will appear with user agreement, just press the button "Accept".

Everything can be controlled by your TV!

The coolest thing is, of course, the cursor. You simply swipe the smartphone screen and the cursor moves across the TV screen. And on the right there is a virtual roller for scrolling, at the bottom there are buttons for adjusting the volume, a back button and a button for moving icons. Like this:

Launch the application and turn on the TV

The second step is to turn on the TV and make sure that it is connected to the same network as your mobile phone (or tablet). Launch the application on your phone and click on the button "Device Scan" to search for nearby TVs.

Choose your TV

As a result of the search, all found TVs connected to your home network will be shown on the mobile phone screen. Select the one you need by clicking on its name.

Enter the code into the application

After selecting the desired TV, a message with 6 digit code, which must be entered into the application on your mobile phone to confirm your rights.

Let's start with the proprietary applications that the company offers when releasing a line of TVs. It is clear that only fairly large manufacturers who are able to allocate money for the development and support of the program can boast of such support. Of these, we immediately remember Samsung or LG. And yes, they provide their users with proprietary utilities for controlling TVs.

Controlling LG Smart TV from your mobile phone

The first ones in line are LG TVs. The company has been producing them for quite a long time, developing many modern low-cost solutions that occupy a significant market share. 2. The second method allows you to do without Wi-Fi Direct by connecting your TV and phone to the same network. By the way, the TV can be connected to the router by wire (Ethernet), which users often resort to to ensure a higher and more stable connection speed. Simply, commands will be sent wirelessly from the smartphone to the router, and from it via a wire to the TV. I think you won’t have any problems connecting to the same network.

And all this over Wi-Fi, or when connected via a network cable. In this article we will look at LG TVs with the Smart TV function, or simply with DLNA support. By the way, Smart TV can be more old version, and the new Web OS, which runs all new LG TVs with support for smart functions.

In the case of DLNA, only the movie itself or photo will be displayed on the TV. Well, the music will play. The entire desktop, folders, etc. will not be displayed. To do this, you need to connect via HDMI, or wireless technology.

Setting up DLNA using Smart Share

The first method is to set up DLNA using the proprietary Smart Share program, which we need to download and install on your computer. You can download the Smart Share program from the official website: http://www.lg.com/ua/support/smart-share. The size is approximately 182 MB, the version at the time of writing is 2.3.1507.2802.

Download the archive with the program and start the installation by running the file setup.exe from the archive. Installation is very simple, there is a Russian language. Don't change anything, just click Next.

You can launch the program using a shortcut on your desktop. Smart Share, by the way, will start automatically when you turn on the computer.

Advice! Autorun is performed through the Windows task scheduler (Computer Management/Utilities/Task Scheduler/Task Scheduler Library/[File - SmartShare][Status - Ready][Triggers - When the computer turns on]).
If you delete this task, autoloading will no longer occur!

On the tab My device settings, you can change the name of your DLNA server that will be displayed on the TV. Or you can leave it as standard.

Well last tab Allow/block other devices. On this tab, you should see your TV. If it is turned on and connected to the same network as the laptop.

You can block required device. If, for example, you have two TVs at home, and you do not want to share files with one of them.

That's all the Smart Share settings. Press the button again Apply And Ok. If in the future you want to open new folders or delete them, you can do this in the settings, as I showed above. The Smart Share icon will appear in the notification panel.

We start watching a movie from a computer on an LG TV

After setting up the program, it’s time to launch a movie on the TV that is located on the computer in the folder we opened. Go to Smart TV (on old remotes, this is the blue button). Then, look for and select the item there Smart Share.

If you don’t see a DLNA server on your TV, but Smart Share is configured correctly on your computer, and the computer and TV are connected to the same network, then first try disabling your antivirus or firewall. Then check your Smart Share settings and restart your computer and TV. Also, be sure to make sure that the TV is connected to your router.

Open the folder we need and launch a movie, photo, or song.

That's it. By opening the tabs: Videos, Photos and Music, which can be seen on the TV, all content will be displayed, for example video, which will be found in all open folders on the computer.

Other Smart Share features: control movie playback on your computer

I showed you only the settings of the Smart Share program. There is also the ability to control the playback of videos, music, or viewing photos directly from your computer (laptop). To do this, just right-click on the program icon (bottom right corner) and choose Open Smart Share.

A small window will appear in which you need to select MOVIE, PHOTO, or MUSIC. In principle, it makes no difference. You can switch between types of content in the program itself.

A window will open with a list of, for example, Movies (if you selected the MOVIE tab). The program will display all the videos that were found in the folders that we added during the setup process (see above). To start watching a movie (photo, or song playback) on an LG TV, just right-click on the file we need and select Play with, And name of your TV. Let me remind you that it must be turned on and connected to the same network as the computer.

Playback will start immediately on the TV. A new window will appear on your computer in which you can control playback.

As you can see, it is not at all necessary to search for a movie on the TV itself.

Possible problems when watching movies via DLNA on TV

The computer does not see the TV, and the TV does not see the computer. What to do? Check the connection on your computer and TV. They must be connected through the same router. Disable the antivirus or firewall on your computer (temporarily). Restart your devices.
