Lenovo has updated its line of tablets, offering customers the Lenovo Tab 2 series. The most inexpensive A7 models were the first to go on sale. The Chinese manufacturer offered two modifications of the tablet: A7-10 and A7-30. Externally, they are practically no different, but differ somewhat in hardware. The proposal turned out to be inexpensive, but at the same time quite interesting, although not without its drawbacks.

Main characteristics of tablets

Lenovo Tab 2 A7 has the following main characteristics:

  • run Android 4.4 OS with the proprietary Lenovo Launcher HD interface add-on;
  • as central processor and the GPU uses the quad-core MediaTek MT8382M platform;
  • the screen has a diagonal of 7 inches, a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels;
  • the A7-30 model has a built-in 3G module;
  • the A7-10 has only a front camera for video calls, the A7-30 also has a main camera on the rear panel;
  • The sound path is Dolby certified (headphones only).

Smartphone design and screen

It should be noted right away that you shouldn’t expect anything unusual from a tablet with a minimal cost. Lenovo Tab 2 have plastic cases. The structure is rigid, since the ends and back panel are a single piece of plastic. Lenovo's build quality has always been good, there are no creaks or backlashes. It is clear that the materials used are the cheapest, but the tablet feels grippy in the hands and does not cause any unpleasant sensations.

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10, like the famous Ford T, is available only in black. A7-30 is more diverse in this regard. This version of the tablet is available in black, white, blue and pink.

The layout of the control elements on the tablets is the same: on the right side there are power and volume buttons, on the left, under the cover, there is a slot for a memory card and a SIM card (for the A7-30). Connectors micro USB and a 3.5 mm jack for headphones are located at the top end.

The screen has a diagonal of 7 inches. Chinese engineers used an IPS matrix, but from the category of the most inexpensive. The resolution is only 1024 by 600 pixels. Additionally, although glass is used to protect the screen, it does not have an oleophobic coating. Therefore, fingerprints are collected very quickly and in large quantities.

There is a manual brightness adjustment, but it does not save the budget quality. In any case, even at full brightness on a sunny day outside it is difficult to use the tablet. The image is greatly faded. In addition, the low screen resolution causes individual pixels to be visible.

Hardware platform

There are no complaints about performance for both tablets...

...a full-fledged 3G module - not only for data transmission, but also for calls...

Both models are built on a quad-core MediaTek MT8127 processor. The processor cores have Cortex-A7 architecture, and the chip also uses a Mali 450 GPU. The processor was released by MediaTek recently and is positioned as a solution for building low-cost tablet computers. There is 1 GB of RAM installed; you can’t expect more in this price category.

User memory can be 8 or 16 GB, depending on the modification. Part of this volume is occupied by pre-installed applications, so installing a flash card is required. Micro slot SD supports cards up to 32 GB.

There are no complaints about performance for both tablets. Since the screen has a low resolution, 1 GB of memory is enough for smooth operation and switching between applications, and the performance of the MT8127 in conjunction with the Mali 400 is enough to run most games and other applications.

The Chinese company is proud that the Tab 2's audio path is Dolby certified. I must say that turning on the Dolby Audio equalizer really improves the sound quality, especially with headphones. In terms of dynamics, the difference in the operation of the sound path with and without an equalizer is unnoticeable. Moreover, there is only one speaker in the tablet.

The Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 tablet contains a full-fledged 3G module, which can be used not only for data transfer, but also for calls. All necessary software already built in, you can use it.

Operating system and interface

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10/A7-30 work under Android control 4.4 KitKat, hidden under Lenovo's proprietary customization. In the future, the manufacturer promises to update the tablet to Android 5.0, but no time frame for the transition has been announced. In general, there are no special highlights - users have a standard Lenovo interface.

As usual, there is a pre-installed application package. It's called Lenovo Doit. The Chinese company installs it in all mobile equipment indiscriminately. The package includes a file sharing program, an antivirus and a spam blocking service, as well as an application for Reserve copy important information.

Cameras

Cameras are the weakest point of the Lenovo Tab 2 A7. The A7-10 model received only a front camera with a 0.3 MP matrix. The maximum thing you can use this camera for is video calls via Skype.

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 was also equipped with a main camera with a 2 MP matrix. However, there is no autofocus, and the quality of the photos leaves much to be desired. Thus, there seems to be a camera, but it would be possible to do without it. After all, at this resolution, the pictures taken cannot be saved by any software improvements or filters. Therefore, the A7-10 is better in this regard. There is no unnecessary element and you don’t have to pay for it.

Battery and runtime

The battery capacity of the Lenovo Tab 2 A7 is 3450 mAh. The manufacturer reports that with active use the devices will work for 8 hours per day. offline mode. In reality, if you start playing video, tablets can work up to 10-12 hours. This is a normal level for a tablet of any class.

...the device is one of the most affordable tablets with a 3G module and IPS screen among first-tier manufacturers. Yes, the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30 has disadvantages, primarily related to the low screen resolution, the quality of both cameras, and the not very rigid body. At the same time, it offers a good time battery life, loud speaker, ability to make calls from a tablet without using a headset...

Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10 is the most affordable of the manufacturer’s “fresh” tablets. To achieve an attractive price of $100, the manufacturer took several justifiable steps, for example, completely abandoned the installation of a rear camera. At the same time, the tablet has a pleasant-to-use body, a platform with normal performance and good battery life.

If you're looking for a budget tablet that's compact in size and has a nice interface, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 is a smart choice that delivers satisfying performance...

Often tablets serve not only as an entertainment center, but also for work, especially if they have a 3G module. This is exactly the tablet we came to test. Meet an affordable 7-inch tablet with GPS support (A-GPS), a 3G module and the ability to make voice calls - Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30.

The scope of delivery for this model is standard. In addition to the tablet itself, the medium-sized box contains Charger at 1A, USB cable medium length and paper documentation.

Appearance and ergonomics

Due to the display aspect ratio of 16:9, the device is not very wide. By and large, we have a very large smartphone in front of us. The dimensions of the device are 191x105x9.3 mm and weight is 269 grams.

The front side of Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30HC covers protective glass. The microphone is located at the bottom end. On the top there is a USB connector and a 3.5 mm audio output. The location of the mechanical keys is standard - on the right side. The back side is covered with a matte black cover. It cannot be removed. In the upper left corner is the main camera lens.

Overall the case is good, but not without its shortcomings. Among the latter, it is worth highlighting the loose fit of the back cover. And if there is no squeaking for the first couple of days, then over time the “crickets” still appear. Otherwise, in terms of ease of use, everything is excellent.

Software and shell

The tablet is controlled by the operating room Android systems 4.4.2. The proprietary Lenovo Launcher HD interface version 1.4.5 is used as the shell. The interface is familiar from the company's other smartphones/tablets, so we won't go into detail about it. Let's just say that the device works quite quickly.

Hardware platform

The heart of the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30HC is the quad-core MediaTek MT8382 processor. Each of the four ARM Cortex-A7 (ARMv7-a) cores operates at up to 1.3 GHz. Built-in GPU Mali-400 MP2 has a maximum frequency of 500 MHz.

The company did not implement support for two SIM cards for working in 3G networks, which is provided by the chipset, and limited itself to one slot for one “regular” SIM card of the miniSIM standard. Volume random access memory is 1 GB, but after enabling only about 300 MB is available. The built-in storage has a capacity of 16 GB of which 12.66 GB is available to the user.

The dialer interface is familiar from other Lenovo devices. The speaker volume during a call is excellent, and the quality of the microphone is not disappointing. In this parameter, the tablet can give odds to some smartphones. It is also worth noting that there is a Dolby Audio logo on the back of the cover. The interface and impressions of the software equalizer are generally the same as on.

Wireless interfaces Wi-Fi standard IEEE 802.11 b/g/n is presented, the previously mentioned cellular module supporting data transmission according to UMTS / HSPA+ / EDGE standards, Bluetooth 4.0, FM receiver, as well as GPS with A-GPS support.

The tablet is hardly suitable for games, although Real Racing 3 runs at maximum settings with very small and rare jerks, but Dead Trigger 2 was a little slower.

We checked the omnivorousness of the built-in player using AnTuTu Video Tester, which confirmed that to launch video files you should use a third-party player.

Autonomy

The capacity of the built-in battery is 3500 mAh. For a seven-inch tablet, this is neither more nor less. During testing, the tablet performed well. For two hours of playing a video from YouTube at a brightness of 53% (150 cd/m²), the discharge was 29%; with the same parameters in reading mode, the consumption was 22%. In general, the results are good and confirmed by synthetic tests.

Display and cameras

Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30HC has a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024x600 pixels without air gap. The resolution by 2015 standards is not very high, which, of course, you immediately notice. The pixel grid is visible to the naked eye. The maximum screen brightness is 267 cd/m², and the minimum is 28 cd/m². Contrast ratio 1:809. There is no automatic brightness adjustment sensor, however, as well as an oleophobic coating. On the street, the tablet screen fades greatly, but the information remains readable.

We checked the factory screen calibration and can say that the screen is relatively good. Yes, the color gamut is somewhat narrower than the standard sRGB, but the color temperature is only slightly higher than the reference value of 6500K.

To sum up my impressions of the screen, it’s quite good. True, not everyone will like the small resolution. Also, in our copy the sensor did not work quite stably. Taps on the screen were not always accurately detected. Perhaps this is a problem only with our device.

It is also worth mentioning that the tablet is equipped with two cameras. Front 0.3 MP and main 2 MP. Both cameras do not have autofocus. And they don’t meet modern requirements at all, although there are some settings and additional modes. But even they are not able to take high-quality pictures in good lighting conditions on the street.

The cost of the tablet at the time of writing is UAH 3,699. At the same time, the device is one of the most affordable tablets with a 3G module and IPS screen among first-tier manufacturers. Yes, the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-30HC has disadvantages, primarily related to the low screen resolution, the quality of both cameras, and the not-so-rigid body. Availability of 3G and GPS

Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 is a budget tablet from a well-known manufacturer. It is worth immediately noting that the device has both advantages and disadvantages, and probably the most important thing will be the cost, it is actually affordable. In addition, we get a 4-core processor, but unfortunately only with 1 GB of RAM, which is clearly not enough, however, if you do not run resource-intensive applications, this will be quite enough. Game lovers will likely be disappointed; the device has an outdated graphics core that will not allow you to play the latest games, however, most of the applications from last year will have to run. Also, the tablet has a fairly high-quality screen with well-reproduced colors and a margin of brightness, which is undoubtedly pleasing. Regarding the cameras, “photographers” will be disappointed; the installed 2 MP and 0.3 MP are clearly not enough, although the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 does not position itself as a tablet intended for photography. Many users point out that the touchscreen is not the most responsive, in principle, this is how it is, sometimes you have to tap the screen a couple of times, however, if you do not play, but use the Internet, such a “minus” will be very useful, as most unnecessary touches of the screen in this way disappears. Overall, a pretty good tablet for the money. Tablet mania recommends.
