Summer is gradually turning into Autumn, the leaves are turning yellow and Apple is announcing new models of its smartphones. The process of yellowing leaves is, of course, a very interesting process, but we are still interested in new devices from Apple, which this time are called iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. In this article we will look at a rather interesting question that almost all users began to ask when they saw the announcement of new smartphones: should they switch to the iPhone 8 or iPhone X?

What's new in iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus?

Apart from the new design and wireless charging, the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are actually improved versions of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The iPhone 8 has a 4.7-inch display, while the iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch one.

Both models have a faster A11 Bionic chip, a Retina True Tone screen and an improved camera to 12 megapixels. The Plus version has a dual-camera setup that will be quite interesting and useful for users interested in photography, especially given the new Portrait Lighting portrait mode.

However, new design devices remained the main topic at Apple's presentation. Glass coating for the back and front of the case, aluminum inserts on the sides - it feels like you will be holding a smartphone like the iPhone 4 in your hands.

Wireless charging is also an incredibly interesting innovation. Apple has abandoned the open Qi standard, so its new smartphones will work with wireless chargers from other companies.

Among other things, Apple also tried hard to promote augmented reality and demonstrated a huge number of other equally entertaining functions. Although they were all announced for the iPhone 8, these functions will also appear on other older iPhone models.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are available in 64GB and 256GB models, with a starting price of $699.

What's new in iPhone X?

As expected, Apple announced another high-tech model for its smartphone line - iPhone X. It has glass cover for the back and front of the case, and on the sides, in turn, there are stainless steel inserts. The Home button, and with it Touch ID, has disappeared.

The iPhone X display looks like it will be truly something extraordinary. This model has Super Retina display with a diagonal of 5.8 inches. Its resolution reaches 2436×1125 pixels, but in addition to this, it will involve various useful features. The iPhone X's display may be one of the best smartphone displays ever.

With Touch ID a thing of the past, you can unlock your iPhone X by simply glancing at the device and then swiping your finger across the bottom of the screen. Apple calls this technology Face ID. They claim it provides even more security than Touch ID and works no matter what time of day it is or how you're dressed.

They also claim that Face ID can't be fooled with a photo and can easily adapt to different types of hairstyles, glasses, and the like. However, Face ID technology still did not show its best side during Apple presentations, but it is not yet clear what reasons were behind this problem.

Apple also introduced another fun feature that seems to use Face ID technology: Animojis. Simply put, these are animated emojis that can be controlled by your facial expressions. A pleasant time with your friends and acquaintances is definitely guaranteed.

The iPhone X has 64GB and 256GB models and will be priced at $999. It's not a cheap smartphone, but it's definitely the best in the entire iPhone lineup.

Should you upgrade to iPhone 8?

If you are thinking about switching to a more modern iPhone model, then you need, first of all, to build on the device that you already have.

If you have an iPhone 7

The iPhone 8 is a great smartphone, but for the most part it's an update iPhone version 7. It has a new design and a faster processor, but your user experience won't be much different from the iPhone 7.

Unless you need some specific features of the new smartphone model from Apple, then there is no point in switching to the iPhone 8 for ordinary users. If you want to go to the most best model iPhone at the moment, then you should take a closer look at the iPhone X.

If you have an iPhone 6S

If you are the owner of an iPhone 6S, then deciding to switch to another iPhone model will be the most difficult thing for you. Right now, your smartphone is one of the best in the world. However, you have probably already begun to notice that the capacity of your battery is beginning to slowly but surely decrease. Upgrading from iPhone 6S to iPhone 8 is a completely reasonable decision that is completely worth it.

If you have an iPhone 6 and earlier models

If you have an iPhone 6 or 5 series devices in your hands, then you definitely need to think about upgrading to a newer device. Yes, iOS 11 will also be released for the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, but this operating system will in no case be able to fully reveal itself on these devices.

But that doesn't mean the old ones iPhone models will completely disappear into oblivion. They're still perfectly usable, but don't expect the same performance in iOS 11 as the iPhone 8, much less the iPhone X.

If you have an Android smartphone

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are two versions of the same model, which is the second the best smartphone iPhone. If you want to move from your operating room in the near future Android systems on iOS, then now is the best time for this.

Moreover, many users who purchase new products for themselves will put up their iPhone 7 and other models for sale, and at a great discount. However, if you didn't initially think about switching to iOS, then the iPhone 8 is unlikely to convince you.

Should you upgrade to iPhone X?

Ok, let's be clear: the iPhone X is a great, but incredibly expensive device. A huge number of users want to own it, but not everyone will buy it. If you can afford a thousand dollar purchase, then you can easily buy the iPhone X; you definitely know what you're doing. For others, we recommend taking a better look at the iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple annually presents its technological innovations, attracting an increasing number of lovers of progressive technology at an enviable speed. However, not everyone can afford to constantly replace an old smartphone model with a new one. Many various reasons have been using the same smartphone for several years. If you are the owner of a reliable, but far from “fresh” iPhone 6S, then now is the right time to switch to using the iPhone 8 Plus phablet. Comparing the iPhone 6S and 8 Plus in this article will help you experience all the advantages of the latest Apple model.

Unclickable Home Button: Is it Good?

Other manufacturers have also tried to replace the mechanical button with a touch button. mobile devices. For example, everyone remembers the Motorola ROKR E8; the experiment, to put it mildly, was a failure. Then experts agreed that the problem with the device was a primitive vibration motor, which was a cylinder on an axis with a cut out sector. When the cylinder rotates, the balance is disrupted, which leads to the phone body rattling. In general, the effect is not the most pleasant.

Let's return to Cupertino products and start comparing the iPhone 6S and 8 Plus. The latter was equipped by the manufacturer with a Taptic Engine with a completely different operating principle. This technology is based on small and precisely timed vibrations, which are reminiscent of clicking a mechanical button. But there is one small drawback - it will not work with gloves. Although, for those who do not wear gloves at all, this nuance is unlikely to seem like a minus.

Significant but unnoticeable increase in speed

The A11 Bionic processor is as much as 25% faster than the previous A10 chip. The “six” is equipped with the A9, which is 70% inferior to the A10 in terms of performance. Is it worth talking about the advantages of the G8 over previous models"apple"? However, the user's eye is unlikely to notice the increase in power in a standard situation. For example, iOS 11 works great on the A9 chip, and a two-year-old smartphone practically does not slow down and is no different from productive new products.

Another thing is the resource-demanding modern toys for iPhone. But here, too, the manufacturer is trying to level out the difference between devices by adjusting the graphics for a specific “filling”. In the G8, minimized applications are still quickly closed. Looks like it's not a matter of volume. RAM, which the phablet has in abundance - 3 GB, but the problem lies in the software itself. In general, there is a difference in the performance of these two devices, but the user’s eye will not be able to notice it.

Glass at the back - stylish, but expensive

Metal back cover of iPhone 6S or iPhone 8 Plus with glass surface? The body of the “six” turned out to be remarkably reliable - carried in a pocket without a case, minor mechanical damage left a minimum of defects on the surface of the device. The American company's phablet received a back cover made of glass. Some iPhone 8 owners managed to assure their comrades that the glass turned out to be reliable. But who dares to check it? Replacing the back of the iPhone 8 Plus case will cost 10 thousand rubles, which is twice as expensive as replacing the display on an iPhone 6.

New camera - new level

For selfie lovers front camera You'll definitely like the iPhone 8. It takes high-quality photos, much better than the “six” camera. Friends will definitely appreciate the quality of your photos on social networks. The following has changed:

  • Increase in megapixels – now 7 megapixels + improved color rendition
  • Dual main camera
  • Availability of “portrait mode”
  • "Night Shot"

Shooting at night is now a pleasure – you can see literally everything. Daytime photos taken by the main iPhone camera 8 Plus, much “juicier” than old photos. But the main trump card of the phablet camera is “portrait mode”.

The feature is only available in the Plus version, so if you like cool photos, be sure to pay attention to this. Thanks to a neural network, the device highlights the main character in the photo and magically blurs everything that is behind him. The effect is simply amazing.

The number of speakers matters

The new eight speaker exceeded all expectations. In terms of sound quality today, it has no equal. The device produces crystal clear, fully balanced sound. This is confirmed by numerous studies by independent experts. But you don’t even need to be an expert to feel how deep and rich the notes emitted have become iPhone speakers 8Plus. It is not necessary to listen to music without headphones. Improved sound is also noticeable when watching videos.

Life goes on without a 3.5 mm jack

The debate about whether Apple needs a 3.5 mm jack or not continues to this day. One thing is clear - the American corporation will not return to old technologies. The traditional 3.5 mm connector was abandoned with the release of the “seven”, but Apple continues to hedge its bets by putting Lightning in the box every time. However, it is much more convenient to use a wireless headset. Fortunately, the prices for it today are not high, and for a couple of thousand rubles you can buy cool Bluetooth headphones.

Wireless charging - cool

As in the case of the 3.5 mm jack, the American company does not plan to change its attitude towards sockets. The battery of the iPhone 8 Plus is larger and larger than in the regular “eight” and iPhone 6S. Today, wireless charging is not as expensive as it was just recently. For 800 rubles you can purchase a reliable device that will serve faithfully for several years. This method of charging a device is not only technologically advanced, but also convenient. You just need to put the “apple” on the plastic stand and that’s it. No more action.

It is not necessary to remove the case from the device. This is convenient if you are forgetful and often in a hurry. It is much easier to put your smartphone on a special stand than to look for a charger and plug it into an outlet. It takes a lot more effort, and sometimes time. Apple still hasn't started selling its own wireless charger. But today there is an abundance of offers from other companies on the market. You can always buy a cheap and affordable Qi standard charger, or an expensive and reputable one from Samsung.

The touch button is now part of the operating system

The Taptic Engine technology mentioned above appeared with the release of the “sixth” iPhone. But then she worked differently. In the iPhone 8 Plus, she can do much more. At times, her wince is barely noticeable when opening user applications. Taptic Engine works in all built-in and third party applications. For example, in social network Instagram has a filter overlay feature. With Taptic Engine, you drag the slider to 100% and feel the tactile feedback. Many will say - a trifle, but it creates completely new ideas about the capabilities of Taptic Engine technology

To buy or not to buy iPhone 8 Plus?

This concludes the comparison of iPhone 6S vs iPhone 8. What is the result of the comparison? The bottom line is this: if you have a sixth iPhone in use, and you don’t have an extra 22 thousand rubles to pay for the perfect “top ten”, it’s definitely worth purchasing the iPhone 8 Plus. You can purchase a standard G8, but in this case you will not get an improved camera with the ability to shoot portraits. And the battery of the phablet is much larger. Another thing is that not everyone will like the dimensions of such a device. If you are confused by the size of your smartphone, then there is nothing left to do but collect money and immediately upgrade to “ten”.

– new smartphone Apple size"Plus". A smartphone with a 6.5-inch screen will replace the iPhone Plus line. Should you buy a new model if you currently have an iPhone 8 Plus? The iPhone 8 Plus came out just a year ago and is still great smartphone. In terms of features, performance and battery of the iPhone XS Max - best iPhone for now. So are the new features of the iPhone XS Max worth the money? Let's look into this below.

Design and display

Main iPhone difference The XS Max from iPhone 8 Plus is all about design and display. The iPhone XS Max with a full-front display looks modern, which cannot be said about the iPhone 8 Plus. Now even budget smartphones come with minimal bezels, the iPhone 8 Plus looks dated with huge bezels at the top and bottom of the screen. The iPhone XS Max has stainless steel frames, which give it a more premium look, while the iPhone 8 Plus has aluminum frames.

And the iPhone 8 Plus has an IP67 rating.

The same goes for the display. The iPhone 8 Plus has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display, which is not bad. Moreover, it is one of the best displays on a smartphone. However, it still can't compete with the iPhone XS Max's 6.5-inch OLED display with HDR 10 support, Dolby Vision, higher resolution, higher contrast ratio and better color reproduction.

Performance

Despite the new A12 Bionic processor, iPhone performance XS Max not much better than iPhone 8Plus. The A11 Bionic processor remains very powerful. Besides, iOS update 12 will make the performance of last year's smartphone even better.

Camera TrueDepth And Face ID

The iPhone 8 Plus has a regular FaceTime HD camera, while the iPhone XS Max has new system TrueDepth. This system is much more complex and consists of many sensors and a 7MP camera. The TrueDepth system can read depth information. It also powers Face ID, which is now even faster and more accurate than on iPhone X.

The iPhone 8 Plus still has Touch ID authentication. While it may be more reliable, fingerprint sensors are a thing of the past when Apple introduced Face ID technology, which is more convenient and advanced.

The TrueDepth camera on the iPhone XS Max also provides Animoji, Memoji, and Portrait mode with Depth. All these features are missing on the iPhone 8 Plus. It's not the most important reason to upgrade your smartphone, but there's no denying that Face ID is much more convenient than Touch ID. And Memoji and Animoji are a fun new way to communicate with your loved ones.

Main camera

Both the iPhone XS Max and iPhone 8 Plus have dual rear cameras. The 12-megapixel main lens of the iPhone XS Max supports Smart HDR, which will improve low-light shooting and make photos clearer and more detailed.

The new smartphone's camera itself is impressive, but it's not much of an improvement over the iPhone 8 Plus' camera. The iPhone XS Max's second telephoto lens has gotten better, as it now also supports optical image stabilization and a wider aperture.

Two Simcards

If you have to carry two smartphones with different numbers, you may want to consider buying the iPhone XS Max as it supports dual SIM cards. However, before making a decision, find out whether your operator supports eSIM technology. With this technology you will be able to use one regular SIM card and one virtual. Not all operators support the technology.

As a bonus, the iPhone XS Max also supports Gigabit LTE, i.e. network signal and speed mobile internet it will be better.

Capacity

If you have an iPhone 8 Plus with 256GB of storage and that's not enough for you, you can buy an iPhone XS Max with 512GB of storage. For most users, 256GB should be enough, but if that's not enough for you, you'll need to upgrade to the iPhone XS Max.

Battery

iPhone XS Max can last 90 minutes longer than iPhone 8 Plus. New smartphone works 4 hours longer when talking on the phone and an hour longer when working on the Internet. The iPhone XS Max has a better battery, but the difference is small. If your iPhone 8 Plus doesn't have enough charge for the day, the iPhone XS Max isn't likely to change that.

You can buy an iPhone 8 Plus fast charging adapter or place a wireless charging pad on your desk to solve the problem.

The iPhone XS Max is better than the iPhone 8 Plus in terms of design and display, but these improvements are not worth its high price. However, if you want the best iPhone available, buy the XS Max.

We compare apple phone iPhone 8 with two predecessors: iPhone 6s and iPhone 7. Is it worth replacing an Apple 7 or 6 phone with an 8 model? Or maybe you shouldn’t overpay, but rather buy an iPhone 7 or 6s?

iPhone 8, despite the new products from Apple, continues to be extremely popular among users. Perhaps some of you are wondering whether it is worth switching from old model to a new one. Or maybe it’s better to save money and buy one of its predecessors? I hope it's mine comparison of iPhone 8, iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S will help you make the right choice.

With the advent of new iPhone generation As always, he changes his appearance. The Cupertino giant only made a few cosmetic tweaks last year. This year the main change concerns the material from which the case is made. The iPhone 8 is made primarily of glass.

iPhone 7 introduced some changes in the form of the camera lens, also updated two colors, in the case of iPhone 8 we are dealing with the evolution of this solution, a new color appeared - Gold Blush. There is glass at the back of the device, which allows you to use wireless charging. In addition, the phone can be charged in many places, such as cafes and shops. Apparently the construction of the corresponding infrastructure has already begun.

Comparison iPhone sizes 8, iPhone 7 and iPhone 6S:

iPhone 6S iPhone 7 iPhone 8
Color versions Silver, Gold, Space Gray, Rose Gold Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Jet Black, Black Silver, Space Gray, Gold Blush
Dimensions 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm 138.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm
Weight 143 g 138 g 148 g

When it comes to size, the differences are not overwhelming. But all three models have one minus compared to other top players, for today the ratio of display size to the entire front panel (~65.6% in each case). While some smartphones in 2017 have an 80% size ratio, Apple didn't try hard here.

Grade appearance three last generations iPhone smartphones is individual, so you must answer the question for yourself which one do you like best. I give my vote to iPhone 8 plus 64 GB gray, but only because I prefer a glass case.

Display comparison

All three smartphones discussed were equipped with 4.7-inch display made using IPS technology, with resolution 1334×750, which gives approx. 326 pixels per inch. It is difficult to unequivocally assess whether Apple is doing well by adhering to one resolution, since, on the one hand, this is quite enough, but on the other hand, competition can offer more. Perhaps FullHD resolution would be desirable.

The matter of displaying colors looks interesting. iPhone 6s covers the sRGB color space, and iPhone 7 palette DCI-P3, which is noticeably wider, and is used in the field of photography and video. By doing this, Apple made a small nod towards professionals. iPhone 8 also offers True Tone technology. Don't forget about the 3D Touch support that all models offer.

iPhone 8 was equipped one of the best IPS smartphone displays. Of course, maybe you were waiting for AMOLEDa, but that's a personal matter. I prefer the muted colors of IPS screens.

Performance Comparison

Here the answer is simple - every iPhone is a performance beast. True, we do not yet know the exact capabilities of the Apple A11 Fusion with the iPhone 8, but we must believe that a new king is in the making. The six-core processor should be 30% more productive than the Apple A10 Fusion processor and at the same time twice as economical.

However, if productivity is not a key issue for you, then there will be no noticeable differences in your daily work. As for RAM, then all models have 2 GB.

A separate topic is quantity internal memory, since this is already a matter of individual needs. Possible combinations can be found in the table, and each subsequent one requires a significant additional payment, it is worth thinking about how much space you really need.

Camera iPhone 8 vs iPhone 7

In the modern world of smartphones, the camera and its capabilities are probably the most important topic for most clients. You don't have to worry about the quality of the display at all, but the quality of the photos is a very important indicator.

Let's start with technical issues in which iPhone 8 has surpassed its predecessors but the difference in attitude towards iphone 7 will not be very big. The situation is different if you compare it with the 6S model. Here the lack of optical stabilization of the screen is striking. Additionally, later models have much lighter lenses. Apple is heavily emphasizing progress in low-light photo quality.

iPhone 8 camera specifications and comparison with predecessors:

Video recording - 240 frames in FullHD resolution. Apple emphasizes that the iPhone provides the best video quality in the history of smartphones. Also a plus is support for virtual reality. The games shown at the conference look no less interesting.

I'm not sure the iPhone 8's camera can compete with the iPhone's. Samsung Galaxy S8, but tests will show this. Despite this, he is one of the best devices in the world of smartphones.

Battery

It is very difficult to reliably compare the battery life of any smartphone, even when we are talking about the same models - after all, each of us uses them differently. iPhones have not yet been known for their long battery life when away from a power outlet. As is the case with the iPhone 8?

Apple did not touch upon battery issues at the conference, which is certainly not encouraging. The new processor is rumored to be manages energy better but I don't expect a big leap. Wireless charging is an interesting new feature.

Which iPhone should I choose?

I admit that I cannot answer this question definitively. Due to the price of the new model and the fall in prices for the iPhone 7, I might still prefer the seven. I point it out as the most reasonable option. However, if you rely on top-end performance, then the iPhone 8 will be an excellent choice.

In my review I talked about:

  • How to drown a phone?
  • Where NOT to buy a phone?
  • What volume should I buy: 16-64 or 128GB?
  • What's the most annoying thing about your phone?
  • Why I don't like Android.
  • And.. HIDDEN FEATURES of the phone that I use

I won’t repeat myself in order to fill up the number of stars and views, so now I’ll tell you specifically and to the point.

In February 2018 I decided to buy a new phone, and I went to the store with the clear intention of buying an 8+, but already in the store I changed my mind, citing the very large size and inconvenience in the hand. We bought 2 iPhones: 8 and 8+, and when I got home I started testing both of them.

MY OPINION:

  • I never run after the latest Apple products, I have absolutely no desire to help someone unknown to me make money. And in fact, I don’t see any difference in them. Apple churns out one by one, adding something minor, while doing everything to ensure that previous phones become bricks. We all know very well how Apple usually releases a “new product” 1-2 times a year. Moreover, he does this not when really worthwhile ideas have appeared, but when deadlines are approaching .
  • About bricks. Which version is no longer updated? It seems that 6ka is the last thing that is being updated, and it came out 3 years ago. What Apple does year after year: first they release an update that begins to slow down the entire system of the “old” phone (the old one is 2-3 years old), then not only updates, but all applications from the Apple Store disappear completely. From now on, by telephone it becomes possible - just call. At the same time, my mother still has a 3rd one and it works great, I think many people still have these ancient devices, so why not continue to support them from outside operating systems? It's simple - MONEY! It's not profitable! It is profitable to release new products and systematically destroy old ones.
  • I buy phones for real NEEDS. For example, I drowned my 6s 2 years ago. They restored it, but promised that it would work for 1-2 years. 2 years passed and it began to turn off and work on its own (that is, separately from me), the battery in the cold was discharged in one second from 100% to 0. It was possible to replace the battery, and it would become easier. But I thought it wasn't worth it.
  • To be able to carry my phone as long as possible before it turns into a brick, I buy Always latest version . That is, for example, there are still 7 and 7+ on the shelves now, but I didn’t consider these options at all, because they will systematically die faster than 8 and X, since they were released a year earlier.
  • I didn't buy X because face unlocking is the highest stage of idiocy, especially while driving. I know cases where a person has to raise the phone to eye level for the phone to unlock, but I also know people who are very happy with this function. I don’t know which side I would be on, but I have a feeling that I would be on the annoyed side.
  • I don't know whether to buy you new phone or not. For me the real difference between the 6s and 8 is the Camera, sound and lack of audio output. Without a reason (if 6ka had not died), I would not buy 8ka.

EQUIPMENT

In the box we will see:

  • Telephone
  • Documents
  • Power adapter
  • Charging cord
  • Headphones
  • Headphone adapter

The phone has exactly the same dimensions as the 6/6s:

Since starting with iPhone 7 there is no audio output, but Apple stubbornly refuses to include Bluetooth headphones in the kit, they carefully include an adapter:

In fact, they removed the audio output and added stereo sound to the phone. But this is TE-LE-FON!!! For me, it would be better to have an audio output than this stereo sound. It’s simply not possible to listen to music in the car and charge your phone at the same time.

IS IT WORTH SWITCHING FROM 6S to 8

I don't see any point in this. Yes, the camera is better, but otherwise it's the same phone. Well, maybe with slightly better characteristics, but at the moment this is not felt. The phones are completely identical:

The back panel is slightly different, but holding the phone in your hand you can’t even see it. If only in the mirror when taking selfies in photos. But buying a new phone because of this (for the sake of photos in the mirror from the series “look, I have 8ka” is strange, to say the least).

WHY DID I CHANGE TO 8+ AFTER A DAY?

The reason was banal: I was holding 8 in my hand, and did not understand what I had changed for what. I paid 50k, and at the same time I received exactly the same thing as what I had, only one thought saved me - I successfully drowned my 6s 2 years ago, and now it began to actually “glitch”, and the 8ka worked without interruptions. But in the end, the point in my choice to change the phone was the thought that from the very beginning (2-3 months) I wanted an 8+, so I went for it, and what happened to me at the time of purchase - I have no idea, like being put into hypnosis. That's why I sold 8ku within a day and bought 8+.

HOW TO RETURN YOUR iPhone BACK TO THE STORE

It turns out that the phone can be returned back to the store... if it THE SIM CARD WAS NOT INSERTED. As soon as you inserted the SIM card, the data was sent to the main center, and from that moment on, by entering serial number On the website, you can see the activation date of the phone. It is quite possible to return a phone to an online store, but to a regular physical store is not possible. This happened to me too. I managed to activate the phone, and despite the fact that all the original films were saved on it, the wires were not printed.... it was no longer possible to return it back to the store.

GENERAL IMPRESSION

I love Apple technology, I have been in love with it for a long time. The phone is actually very good, and by and large there was no point in upgrading to 8+. The 8+ is quite uncomfortable in the hand, unlike the 8. But personally, the large screen turned out to be more convenient for me, since my work is based on the phone.
