The quality of sound playback in Windows 7 depends not only on the cost speaker system and sound chip, but also on the correctness of the settings software. The latter includes an equalizer, which is quite easy to configure in all existing audio players. However, few people know that the equalizer is preinstalled in Windows 7 itself.

Where is the equalizer in Windows 7 and how do I configure it?

To turn on the equalizer in the operating room Windows system 7 you should do the following:

  • Click “Start”, “Control Panel”, set the viewing mode to “Large icons” and look for the “Sound” section.
  • A new window will open. In the “Playback” tab, double-click to open the “Speakers” icon.

  • In the new window, go to the “Improvements” or “Advanced Features” tab (depending on the build of Windows 7). Place a check mark next to the “Equalizer” item.

There is also a separate equalizer for the sound card. To open and configure it, you should perform the following steps:

  • On the Windows taskbar, click on the arrow and select “Realtek Manager”.

  • A new window will open. Depending on model motherboard interface " Realtek dispatcher"may be different. Go to the “Sound Effect” tab. Select the equalizer type.

  • We choose the type of sound according to the style of the musical direction. However, we recommend that you simply turn on audiobooks or radio, and then set the equalizer types in order. This is the only way to choose the right equalizer.

The social network VKontakte, as you know, provides users with the opportunity to listen to music for free, but through a poorly functional player. For this reason, the topic of using third-party equalizers for the VK website becomes relevant, which we will discuss in this article.

To begin with, it is worth clarifying that all currently existing methods of using an equalizer within the VKontakte website require the installation of additional software. However, due to numerous changes to the section "Music" for the VK application, extensions for Android will not be considered.

Use only trusted extensions that do not require authorization or allow it through the VK safe zone.

Method 1: Realtek Equalizer

This technique for using an equalizer is not the best option, because installed settings will be assigned to virtually all sounds that are played by the audio driver. In addition, the method is only relevant in cases where you are a user of a sound card from Realtek.

This instruction uses Windows OS 8.1, however, other versions do not differ significantly in terms of the location of the affected partitions.

After launching the Realtek HD Manager, you can go directly to adjusting the sound.

  1. Using the main navigation bar, switch to the tab "Speakers", which usually opens by default when the manager starts.
  2. Next you need to go to the tab "Sound Effect" through the menu located under the main audio controls.
  3. Using the section "Environment" you can select the most optimal mode for simulating the situation, which can be canceled using the button "Reset".
  4. In the block "Equalizer" click on the button "Absent" and select one of the music and sound options.
  5. You can take advantage of existing equalizer presets using the visual panel.
  6. Setting block "Karaoke" designed to make music sound higher or lower depending on the value set.
  7. If you prefer to use your own sound parameters, then use the button "On" graphic equalizer".
  8. Use the appropriate controls to set your preferred options. Here you can also use the preset menu.
  9. When you achieve the desired sound effect, press the button "Save".
  10. While setting the parameters, do not forget to listen to music, as the settings are applied automatically without first saving.

  11. In the window that appears, in the bottom line, enter the name of the setting, which will subsequently be added to the general list of equalizer presets, and click the button "OK".
  12. If you have previously created other equalizer variations, you can replace them by selecting from the list provided and using the button "OK".

  13. You can get rid of the selected sound settings at any time by using the button "Reset".

If you did everything correctly, then the music on the VKontakte social network will sound exactly the way you need it.

Method 2: VK Blue extension

The VK Blue add-on is designed to expand the basic capabilities of the VKontakte website regarding the process of listening to audio recordings in the Google Chrome Internet browser. Moreover, using VK Blue, you as a user receive a stable equalizer that is compatible with the updated version of the site and does not cause problems with the performance of the Internet browser.

All further actions are directly related to the installed extension.

  1. As you can see, after installing the add-on, the player interface is supplemented with a block "VK Blue".
  2. To use the equalizer, play any favorite song from your playlist.
  3. Now the area above the player will become a functional part of the player.
  4. If you do not want the equalizer settings to be automatic, determined depending on the type of music being played, uncheck the box next to "Detect automatically".
  5. On the left side of the area, VK Blue provides you with a menu with possible presets.
  6. The extension has the ability to use sound effects through the menu "Effects", however, it is intended for PRO users.
  7. You can activate PRO mode completely free of charge by reposting a certain post from the official community on your wall.
  8. On the right side of the extension's work area there is an information menu and various auxiliary features.
  9. Note that this extension has the remarkable ability to download audio recordings.

Once upon a time, when I was still using windows XP with all my might, I needed it on a computer, or more precisely on a Lenovo laptop good sound, though not for music, but that doesn’t change the essence.

One of the programs that can improve it is the sound equalizer. I started searching. I had to search for a long time.

I definitely wanted it in Russian, but everyone came across it in English. It was difficult, but I found it translated by enthusiasts, and it fit perfectly onto the laptop desktop.

It's called foobar2000, and you can download it for free, without registration at the end of the post.

Then, I installed it for Vista, for Windows 7, for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and now I installed it for Windows 10 64 bit.

At first, I really thought about using a gadget or plug-in, but they didn’t suit me - the foobar2000 bass equalizer turned out to be better, including for headphones.

  • By the way, you can use not only an equalizer, but a whole musical combine (free in Russian) -

A brief description of the sound settings equalizer which you can download here

This is a simple equalizer for a computer or laptop. There is a small graphical rhythm/spectrum indicator at the top.

Perhaps for some it will not be super best, or as many want professional, but it is good app to adjust the sound.

It's not too pretty, but its simplicity will fit on any screen and give your music the effect you customize.

This stereo music equalizer is multi-band, parametric, for low and high frequencies, and can be easily used for vocals.

Although it is virtual, it can replace a regular one quite well. By the way, if you need an equalizer amplifier, then I recommend

Then get the most powerful system equalizer to enhance and customize your sound.

Yes one more thing. To improve the sound you can also download it for free. With its help you can remove interference.

How to download and configure equalizer foobar2000

Portable (you can carry it with you on a flash drive) and regular - the choice is yours. The Russian language will appear immediately. Enjoy listening to music.

  • Tutorial

There were already several articles on the Web Audio API on the hub: creating a visualizer, vocoder and piano in 30 24 lines. Search all over the Internet for the request equalizer stubbornly gave out tutorials on creating spectrograms. (If the title of this article confused you or you still bought the picture :) and were expecting audio visualization - you should go here or here). But I haven’t come across just an equalizer (although I’m sure it exists somewhere). Perhaps this is such a simple task that it’s not worth writing about. But, in that case, why not make it even simpler?

What did you want to get?
Suppose we already have some kind of player. In the simplest case, it is a bare audio element.

I wish we could attach an equalizer to it
var audio = document.getElementById("audio"); equalize(audio); // somehow so that you don’t have to think and it still wouldn’t affect the operation of the player itself.
But let's start from the beginning.

API

Any work with the Web Audio API begins with creating a context:
window.AudioContext = window.AudioContext || window.webkitAudioContext; var context = new AudioContext();
What is important is that there should be only one such object. First, in order for all related objects to work together, they must be created in the same context. Secondly, if you create several contexts (according to observations - 3-4), the browser will crash :)

(UPD: as of 09/21/15, when creating more contexts, the error Uncaught NotSupportedError: Failed to construct "AudioContext": The number of hardware contexts provided (6) is greater than or equal to the maximum bound (6) occurs. That is Chrome allows you to create up to six contexts at the same time)

The first thing we need is to create a wrapper for HTMLMediaElement , which we will work with:
var source = context.createMediaElementSource(audio);

Filter creation code:
var createFilter = function (frequency) ( var filter = context.createBiquadFilter(); filter.type = "peaking"; // filter type filter.frequency.value = frequency; // frequency filter.Q.value = 1; // Q-factor filter.gain.value = 0; return filter);
The only parameter in this case is frequency. The remaining parameters are the same for all filters or change while the program is running. This:

  • type- filter type. Can take one of the following values: lowpass, highpass, bandpass, lowshelf, highshelf, peaking, notch, allpass. We only need a peaking filter - it allows you to selectively emphasize or attenuate a limited band of the audio spectrum.
  • Q - quality factor- changes the bandwidth of the frequencies that the filter affects.
  • gain- the strength with which the filter affects the frequency band.
It is necessary to create filters for the entire set of frequencies. For a 10-band equalizer, these can be 60, 170, 310, 600, 1000, 3000, 6000, 12000, 14000 and 16000 Hz (values copied from Winamp).
var createFilters = function () ( var frequencies = , filters; // create filters filters = frequencies.map(createFilter); // chain them sequentially. // Each filter, except the first, is connected to the previous one. // It’s lucky that reduce without the initial value, it just skips the first element. filters.reduce(function (prev, curr) ( prev.connect(curr); return curr; ));
It is very important to connect the filters in series. When I wrote the first version, my filters were connected in parallel, and the output was nothing but a terrible roar. The cure was not found immediately (mainly because the answer marked as “solution” is not correct).

All that remains is to tie it all together:
window.AudioContext = window.AudioContext || window.webkitAudioContext; var context = new AudioContext(), audio = document.getElementById("audio"); var createFilter = function (frequency) ( var filter = context.createBiquadFilter(); filter.type = "peaking"; // filter type filter.frequency.value = frequency; // frequency filter.Q.value = 1; // Q-factor filter.gain.value = 0; return filter); var createFilters = function () ( var frequencies = , filters = frequencies.map(createFilter); filters.reduce(function (prev, curr) ( prev.connect(curr); return curr; )); return filters; ); var equalize = function (audio) ( var source = context.createMediaElementSource(audio), filters = createFilters(); // the source is connected to the first filter source.connect(filters); // and the last filter is connected to the output filters.connect( context.destination); equalize(audio);
Like this. Equalizer in 30 lines. The next step is to bind the controls, but this is an elementary task.

Something like this

// schematically var bindEvents = function (inputs) ( inputs.forEach(function (item, i) ( item.addEventListener("change", function (e) ( filters[i].gain.value = e.target.value; ), false);

Here, in fact, is a demo where an ogg file is streamed and passed through our equalizer, But only users can enjoy it Google Chrome, users of other browsers will have to work hard to open a local file, and not just any . Because…

Moment of disappointment

Having assembled the first version of the player, I decided to attach soundcloud to it. It's great to stream songs from the cloud through an equalizer. In the end, everything started up... but only in chrome - the mozilla stubbornly refused to reproduce the stream. But it launched local files with a bang. And then something terrible became clear:
To prevent this , a MediaElementAudioSourceNode must output silence instead of the normal output of the HTMLMediaElement if it has been created using an HTMLMediaElement for which the execution of the fetch algorithm labeled the resource as CORS-cross-origin. (

After installation operating systems Windows lines, drivers are installed for the sound card, but along with them there is no software that allows you to fine-tune your sound card. This mainly applies to built-in sound cards from Realtek HDA, whose drivers are installed automatically.

Many music lovers often wonder where to get an equalizer to more clearly adjust the sound signal. For these purposes, they usually use different music players, for example Kmplayer or Winamp, which are already equipped with an equalizer function.

If you have installed sound card from Realtek:

1. Download and install the driver package.

2. Launch the utility by double-clicking on the icon in the lower right corner next to the clock, or go to the control panel->Sound-> Realtek Sound Manager

3. Select the “Sound Effect” tab, here the equalizer is located

If the sound card is AC97

The equalizer can be launched and configured using special audio codecs and the Ffdshow Audio Decoder utility. These codecs are automatically downloaded along with listening to music. At the same time, a small icon should appear in the lower right corner.

If you right-click on this icon, a fairly large menu will open, but we are interested in the second line “ffdshow Audio Decoder”.

The Ffdshow utility will open. To configure the equalizer, check the box next to the section

Enabling Equalizer in Kmplayer

I advise everyone to use additional software. Firstly, with the help of a special music player, you can forget about other utilities. Secondly, you can create music playlists without constantly searching for your favorite music on your computer.

1. Download and install the Kmplayer player
2. Launch the program
3. Click on the “Control Panel” icon

4. An additional control panel will appear in which you need to go to the "Sound Settings" tab

Here's an equalizer for you

Equalizer in built-in Windows Media Player

IN latest versions Windows chains, be it version 7 or 8, it comes with a built-in WMP player, oddly enough, it also has the function fine tuning sound. To launch WMP, just right-click on the music file, and then use the "Open with" menu to launch Windows Player Media. WMP can also be found in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder.

After the program starts, right-click on the screen and point to " additional features", then click "Equalizer".

Equalizer for online music

Recently I became interested in the question of whether it is possible to connect an equalizer to online music and watching video movies. Since the audio signal goes through Adobe Flash Player built-in utilities with the ability to fine-tune the sound will not work. For Android, there have long been special applications for listening to music on social networks, and there is an equalizer function there.

For this purpose I found a wonderful program DFX Audio Enhancer, it is thanks to this utility that you can control your music even while listening online, be it social network VKontakte or Online radio.

What will be required for this task?

Download and install the DFX Audio Enhancer utility

After installing it, the program is registered as an additional sound controller

The equalizer itself looks like this:

In the settings it is possible to increase such parameters as: Fidelity, Ambience, 3D Surround, HyperBass, but unfortunately the utility has limitations; in fact, I did not expect anything else. But even with such restrictions, the sound becomes significantly louder, the bass and other sound qualities increase.

Bottom line.

In fact, today there are many music players, and almost all of them have a built-in equalizer function. Therefore, there is no point in using the equalizer in the driver utilities itself, although they write on the Internet that it sounds much better than in additional software.
