- Do not download torrents on the Tor network, as this will increase the load on the network. Torrent programs are designed in such a way that they always access the Internet directly and do not take into account proxy settings. This may compromise your real IP address.
- always use https connection. This connection will ensure the security of data transfer.
For security settings, click Security Settings.
Set the security level:
- Low (default) – standard security level.
- Medium – Javascript is blocked on sites that do not support https. HTML5 video and audio launched with a click via the NoScript plugin
- High – Javascript is blocked on all websites. HTML5 video and audio are launched with a click through the NoScript plugin. Some types of pictures, fonts and icons are prohibited from downloading
Suitable for most users. Websites open correctly and nothing is blocked.
Since most of the websites use Javascript, therefore browsing websites in High mode is problematic as some of the content is hidden. We recommend this mode when you need to read an article on a website, but you do not need to log in to the site.

Remember that with this setup, only the Tor Browser uses the Tor network. All other programs use a direct connection to the Internet and transmit your real IP address.
What to do with programs that cannot work directly with the Socks protocol? For example, email clients, other browsers, instant messaging programs, etc. We recommend using Proxifier to redirect traffic from such programs to the Tor network.
Setting up Proxifier over the Tor network
The Proxifier program can:
- redirect traffic from all operating system programs through a proxy (including email clients, all browsers, instant messaging programs)
- create proxy chains
- use a DNS server from a proxy, hiding the real DNS of the ISP
- supports http and socks proxy

Install the Proxifier program. This program can collect all operating system traffic and pass it through a specific proxy server.
To configure Proxifier, you need to know the Tor network port being used. Go to the Preferences section of the Tor Browser.
Select the Network Settings section.
Look at the used local IP address and connection port of the Tor network. This data must be inserted into the Proxifier program so that all operating system traffic passes through the Tor network. In our example, 127.0.0.1 and port 9150.
Launch the Proxifier program.
ATTENTION! It is important to first launch Tor Browser and wait until the main window appears. And only after that launch the Proxifier program.
Click on the Proxies button.
Click the Add button.
Enter the IP address and port. In our example: 127.0.0.1 and port 9150.
Select Yes - you agree to use this proxy by default.
Open any browser or email program. In Proxifier you will see a list of connections via the Tor network. In any browser, you can check your IP address and make sure that the IP address from the Tor network will be displayed, and not your real IP address.
If something does not work, then close Tor Browser and Proxifier. And then launch Tor Browser and wait for the main window to appear. Only then run Proxifier. None additional settings no need to do it. All traffic will automatically go through the Tor network. Close Proxifier to get your real IP address back.
Tor is a system of confusing proxy servers that disguises the user's presence on the Internet. Usually it is used in a special browser (which is called Tor Browser), but it can also be added to a more familiar one Google users Chrome. To do this, you just need to install and configure a few extensions.
First install the Kronymous extension. Its icon will appear in the chrome://apps tab. Launch Kronymous and click OK under the instructions for use, and then "Start Tor Proxy". Wait until the download reaches 100% (if an error message appears, click "Restart Tor Proxy"). It would also be a good idea to check the box next to Autostart Tor Proxy - thanks to this, if the connection to Tor is lost, a new connection will be automatically established. Do not close the terminal, otherwise the connection to Tor will be lost.
If you check the IP address at this stage, nothing will change. In order to hide it, you need to redirect the browser through a proxy, and this can be done using the Proxy Switcher Omega extension. Install it, open profile settings, go to the Proxy section and specify the following parameters:
- Protocol: SOCKS5
- Server: 127.0.0.1
- Port: 9999
Click "Apply changes" and then click on the Proxy Switcher Omega button to the right of the address bar and select a profile (for example, proxy). Check your computer's IP address. If it has changed, then Tor is working and masking you. Each new tab will have its own IP.
That's not all. If you do not want to leave traces on sites that can identify you, disable using javascript. This can be done in the browser settings or using the Quick Javascript Switcher extension.
To disable Tor in Chrome, you need to either close the Kronymous terminal window or click on the Proxy Switcher Omega button and select a direct connection.

The specifics of how the extension works on the Chromium and Mozilla Firefox platforms do not differ in essence, but have a slightly different organization. There is no plugin on the official website portable versions Google Chrome, Opera and Yandex Browser, but in these Chromium browsers we will be able to select the country to change the IP address. The choice, however, is meager - only 4 countries, however, for most cases, if the default false IP address selected does not solve the problem of bypassing territorial blocking, it can be changed to the IP of another country.
To install, in the Google Chrome window, go to the “Download” section on the Browsec website, click “Install extension”.
The redirection will take you to the Google Chrome store to the installation page.
After installation, on the Google Chrome toolbar we will find a button with a plugin icon that enables and disables the plugin. In the drop-down window, when you click the button, we will see the above-mentioned option to select a country to change the IP address.

1. Download Tor Browser and install it on your computer. In this case, we will not use the Tor browser, but Mozilla Firefox, but in order to provide Mozilla with anonymity, we will need Tor installed.
2. Launch Tor and minimize this browser. You can now launch Mozilla Firefox.
3. Now we need to configure a proxy in Mozilla Firefox. Click on the browser menu button in the upper right corner and in the window that appears, go to the section "Settings" .

4. In the left pane of the window, go to the tab "Additional" . At the top of the browser, open a subtab "Net" . In the block "Compound" click the button "Tune" .
5. In the window that opens, check the box “ Manual setting proxy service" and then make the changes as shown in the screenshot below:
6. Save the changes, close the settings window and restart the browser.
