Instructions for refilling HP410A/X (CF413A/X, CF412A/X, CF411A/X, CF410A/X) cartridges for HP Color LaserJet M452, M477 printers

In 2015, Hewlett-Packard introduced a new range of updated printers HP Color LaserJet M452, M477. These printers use new generation cartridges with multiple refill protection: HP No. 410A- standard capacity cartridges; And HP No. 410X- increased capacity CF410X, CF411X, CF412X, CF413X.

Cartridges developed on the basis of chemical technology, providing excellent print quality.

In this article we will take a look at the protection levels of the HP 410A cartridge.

  1. The first thing that will catch your eye when disassembling the cartridge is the solid seams. There are no usual screws or mounting pins on the side covers, just solid plastic. Sound soldering of seams is the first degree of protection. On one of the side covers (on the side opposite to the chip) there is a spring that holds the cartridge compartments. This spring must be carefully removed.
  2. After removing the spring, remove the spring itself. side cover. Conventional cartridge designs use internal teeth, but you won't find any teeth here. The lid will have to be broken. But don’t be afraid, break it in a strictly defined place using a flat-head screwdriver and carefully move the cover, applying force, until the seam comes apart.
  3. Once the cover is removed, you can separate the cartridge into 2 parts.
  4. Remove the photo roller and the primary charge roller in sequence when disassembling the waste toner compartment.
  5. Remove the cleaning blade to expose the waste toner compartment.
  6. Removing waste toner. Please note that there is a thin line of silicone sealant inside, it is needed to ensure that the waste does not leak out of the compartment. Something similar could be found in the design of series cartridges. And in cartridges, for example HP 125A, 126A, 128A and even in the HP Pro 200 series, foam rubber and felt seals were used instead of silicone. Silicone is more reliable in terms of protection. Initially, the silicone is blue, but upon contact with the toner, it will turn into the appropriate color. If you wash it with alcohol, it will turn blue again.
  7. Having finished all manipulations with the mining compartment, assemble it and set it aside. It must be assembled in reverse order, i.e. blade, charge shaft and photo shaft.
  8. Let's disassemble the toner compartment. Here again you will not see any screws, the plastic is solid. In previous models, this place had a contact plate with copper conductive elements.
  9. There are a couple of screws on the opposite side, unscrew them and remove the black protective plate on the side where there are gears.
  10. The plate protects several gears, one of them is assembled (you can see its parts in the photo below). Remove the assembled gear, the intermediate white guide and two gears under it - large and small.

11. Remove the developer roller. Then remove the dosing blade. After this, you will see another level of protection from manufacturers.

ATTENTION!

The screws that secure the blade have different threads: one screw has a right-hand thread, the other has a left-hand thread. If you twist them with a screwdriver in one direction, you can break the thread, be very careful and attentive!

Under the dispensing blade you will again see silicone sealant, it will be the same color as the toner it came into contact with. And if you wipe it, you will see that it is blue. Also under the blade you will see a foam toner roller located there, do not remove it. This roller is connected directly to the toner hopper, inside of which you will see a transparent, rigid film in the form of a curtain. This film is actually a check; in regular cartridges it is designed to separate the toner from the magnetic roller, and it is torn off before using a new cartridge, but the case with the HP 410 cartridge is an exception, you don’t need to tear off anything, you can’t just do it . It is designed in such a way that after the first start of a new cartridge, it turns into a tool for mixing toner in the hopper before feeding it to the foam roller and development shaft. This is an innovation and a method of protection in the HP 410 cartridge; the film is necessary to protect against toner getting into the hopper, simply preventing the toner from being poured inside the compartment.

12.Pour the toner under the curtain, first turning it to a position that is convenient for you. There is no other way to get to the bunker. You will be convinced of this when you see that plugs and wide holes for filling toner are simply missing. We pour the toner long and patiently using a watering can with a narrow spout. For refilling we use production toner Static Control Components Odyssey® Multi-Purpose Toner Color Series or Toner HP Color LJ CP 2025/CM 2320 (fl, 100 Chemical TMC027 IMEX) Silver ATM Toner for series HP Color LaserJet M452, M477 still in development.

13. Assembling the compartment. We return the dosing blade and the developing shaft to their place, secure them with screws, not forgetting about the different threads. We install the hooked shaft bushing (white) correctly. We install the gears and the intermediate guide one by one. Then, assemble the gear (do not disassemble it, on the contrary, make sure that it does not fall apart), secure it with a black guide and two screws.

14. Next, we connect both cartridge compartments. To do this, you need to do a little trick: the slot (on the left) and the hook (on the right) should move toward each other when the two parts of the cartridge are connected. We close the halves of the cartridge with a side cover, the same as the one you broke in the beginning. There are no screws. What to do you ask? Fix the break with a drop of adhesive plastic.

15. Return the spring to its place, it is convenient to do this with a knife or flat-head screwdriver.

16. Now let's replace the chip. Here, too, you will see a small protection against overfilling. The chip is in its seat, which is blocked by a partition. You will need to cut this partition off.

17. Install a new chip (some manufacturers have made an adhesive backing so that the chip is fixed in its place). Chip price very high significantly more than EVERYONE previous models HP printers.

The cartridge is refilled and is ready to serve you again.

Let's take a look at the slightly replaceable parts in the HP 410A (410X) cartridges. They are not on sale yet, but they are in development. Not a single commonly replaced part - the photoconductor, the primary charge roller, the dispensing blade, the toner transfer roller - is similar to the parts from previous models. More or less, only the cleaning blade is visually similar to the blade from the HP Pro 200 M251/CP1415/CP1215 color cartridge series, although not identical to it.

Review of HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c - a printing combine in the field of consumer needs

Manufacturers of inkjet MFPs for the most part focus on those who do not need a lot of functionality, but do not mind having it on hand, just in case. You may never use a built-in card reader or fax in your life, but the very knowledge that they are always ready is worth a lot: two thousand rubles, for sure. A clear confirmation of this is the hero of our next review - a printing combine with the ability to connect to the Internet HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c.

History of creation. Brief overview of Internet capabilities

Central view

HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410 (we got our hands on the third revision MFP - HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c) replaced the modest but functional hard worker Photosmart Premium C309. This happened last fall and became a kind of regression. Yes, the device was repainted from boring office light gray to fashionable black, added gloss, taught how to connect to the Internet and print all sorts of funny things from there, but some of the basic functionality was eliminated: unlike its predecessor, the HP C410c cannot print on CDs.

From now on, HP marketers focus not so much on comprehensive functionality (which is exactly what a home photographic MFP with a full set of office modules - fax, duplex and ADF automatic document feeder - can boast of), but on revolutionary technology. We are talking in particular about broad Internet opportunities. Briefly about them.

ePrint technology allows you to print documents from any device connected to the Internet using email(relevant for mobile phones, smartphones, PDAs, tablets, as well as PCs running an OS that is not officially supported: for example, GNU/Linux). Each ePrint-enabled printer or MFP is assigned an individual email address to which emails with attachments should be sent (up to 10 attachments with a total volume of up to 5 MB). Total protection against spam, alas, led to the fact that the service works somehow: out of 10 letters we sent for printing, the HP C410c received only 8. And we also used Gmail, which is officially supported. There is not a word on the official website about support for Yandex.Mail and Mail.Ru, popular in Russia. However, the service is slowly but surely becoming better and more reliable (judging by the fact that there are fewer and fewer complaints about its work on the support forum), and there is no reason to be afraid of spam (which, if it breaks through the defense barriers, will be immediately printed), because there is support “ white" and "black" lists of e-mail addresses.

Print Apps are small widgets that need to be installed directly on the printing device itself. Most of them are designed for viewing and printing photos from social networks and media storage, automatic printing of the latest news and posts from popular blogs, area maps, children's coloring books and puzzles. At the time of publication of this review, the palm in the ranking of the most popular printing applications was grabbed by “AOL Kids” - a program for printing children's coloring books. Printing apps are free (the official FAQ states that they are only free for now, so this may change in the future).

The HP C410c also supports Airprint technology, which is of interest primarily to owners of Apple mobile devices and allows for easy printing of documents and photos from Apple devices via Wi-Fi.

Price. Competition analysis.

Card reader

According to Yandex.Market (region: St. Petersburg), the Russian price of the HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c was 7,200 rubles at the time of publication of this review. This is 2000 rubles more expensive than the younger model HP Photosmart Premium C310, which in terms of printing is completely identical to the C410c, but loses greatly in the optical resolution of the scanner (1200 dpi versus 4800 dpi), and is also not equipped with a fax and ADF. They are asking for this, in general, rather large set of improvements and additional functions a little, but whether all this is really needed by a home rather than an office user is another question.

The HP C410c has few direct competitors and they are all from the upper echelons of the Epson photo device range: Epson Stylus Photo TX800FW(13300 rubles) and Epson Stylus Photo PX820FWD(12,700 rubles). Their main advantages are a larger number of colors (6 versus 5) and support for printing on CDs, while the disadvantages are lower print resolution (5760x1440 dpi versus 9600x2400 dpi), duplex missing in one of the models and, of course, price (hero this review is almost half the price).

Among competitors of a slightly different kind (not photographic, but similar in functionality) the only ones that stand out are HP Officejet Pro 8500A(7200 rubles) and Epson Stylus Office BX625FWD (8800 rubles). But you can consider them as an alternative to the hero of this review only if you are not picky about the quality of photo printing: office devices, as a rule, produce at best pictures of acceptable quality, but in no way comparable to those printed in a photo studio (and photo centers this difficult task of matching is usually handled well).

Let's summarize. We have to admit that today there are simply no devices that could compete on equal terms with the HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c. This is due not only to the merits of our hero (of which, it must be said, there are many), but also to his strange positioning. HP C410c is a photo center for the modern Plyushkin: one device contains all the functions that can only be contained in an MFP. In such cases they say: “He doesn’t make coffee.” Epson also has similar models, but there is no competition: both of them are almost twice as expensive, although they are practically no better.

Appearance

Control Panel

ADF Top Tray

The HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c looks great until you start using it. And it’s all because of the abundance of gloss: HP designers gave the massive scanner cover, control panel and a good part of the front panel of the MFP a stainable coating. Yes, the shine at first gives the device a special charm, but it loses its freshness catastrophically quickly. It would be nice if the problem lay only in fingerprints (although standing by the device with a soft cloth is a dubious pleasure), but the HP C410c also scratches very easily, and, alas, scratches cannot be erased with a rag.

The only thing that justifies this impracticality is the strength of the case. The HP C410c is built from thick plastic and built to last. The panels fit precisely, the gaps are minimal, the structure does not creak or play anywhere. The design of the case is boring, and HP did not bother to visually smooth out the impressive dimensions of the device (for example, in the HP Officejet 7500A they succeeded brilliantly).

The ADF module is located on the scanner lid, which is why the lid itself is heavy. There are no intermediate fixing positions, but the connecting loops are quite tight, and therefore hold it in almost any position. The hinges cannot be lifted, which makes scanning thick originals (magazines, books) difficult.

The control panel is push-button, intuitive, and resembles that of the Epson Stylus Office BX625FWD. Separately, we note that the device is Russified right down to the labels for the buttons. The tilt angle of the panel is fixed, however, the LCD screen on the left side can be tilted to a user-friendly angle. The screen diagonal is 6.1 cm. This is quite enough to control the MFP, but for some printing applications (those related to viewing photos) it is not enough. A card reader is located next to the control panel. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the support for CF memory cards.

The trays are of a traditional design for HP Photosmart series devices. Both are horizontal, occupy the lower part of the MFP, and protrude greatly beyond the body (which complicates the already difficult transportation: the HP C410c weighs almost 10 kg). The capacity of the feed tray is 125 sheets of regular office paper and 20 sheets of photo paper (separate compartment). The output tray can only hold 50 sheets.

On the back of the HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c there is a place for duplex and connectors for connecting the MFP to electrical, local and World Wide Web, as well as USB 2.0 for direct connection to a PC. In addition, the device supports wireless interface Wi-Fi.

Let's summarize. Photosmart Premium Fax C410c leaves a pleasant impression, although it does not shine with special grace. A heavy blow to its practicality was dealt by gloss-obsessed designers, but otherwise it is a fairly convenient (control panel) and durable (high-quality thick plastic) MFP.

Technical capabilities of the printer, scanner, fax

Control panel without overlay

The HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c printing system is completely identical to that of the HP C310b: the same five cartridges (black, cyan, magenta, yellow, photographic black), the same two types of HP Vivera ink (pigment - for the black cartridge, water-soluble - for all the rest), the same volume of an ink drop (up to 1.3 pl - for cartridges with water-soluble ink, 14 pl - with pigment inks). This printing system has already proven itself well.

The manufacturer promises not only high quality document and photo printing, but also impressive speed: 34 and 32 A4 pages per minute for monochrome and color prints, respectively, in draft quality mode, 10.5 and 7.5 pages per minute in laser quality mode. The device supposedly copes with a 10x15 cm photograph in no longer than 17 seconds.

The contact CIS scanner has a huge optical resolution of 4800 dpi. This is enough not only for a simple home user, but also for a photographer or designer working at home. The ADF makes scanning multi-page documents much easier. The MFP can scan directly to a memory card without the need to connect it to a PC.

The fax module is no different from that in other MFPs of a similar class. He knows how to store internal memory up to 90 A4 pages and up to 90 numbers in an address book. Managing contacts is easy thanks to the LCD display.

Let's summarize. With those introduced in the HP C410c technical solutions we have already met while testing the HP Photosmart Premium C310b photographic MFP. Then we were satisfied and were convinced that high-quality photo printing is possible with 4 cartridges (the black cartridge with pigment ink is not used for photo printing). We hope this photo center will not disappoint us.

Testing

Bottom photo paper tray

Automatic Feeder Mechanism

To assess the quality and speed of document and photo printing, we used:

HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c turned out to be truly universal device. It provides excellent quality not only for photographic but also for document printing. You can only find fault with the draft mode: in text documents There are printing defects (slight displacement of characters), a slight graininess is noticeable in the photo. In standard and best quality modes, the MFP performs excellently. The level of color rendering is in no way inferior to competitors produced by Epson, and text is distinguishable down to 3 point.

The print speed is acceptable, although in draft mode it does not match the promise. For monochrome documents it is 17 and 10 pages per minute (in draft and laser quality modes, respectively), for color - 15 and 7 pages per minute. Printing a 10x15 cm photo in draft mode takes 30 seconds, in best quality mode it takes 73 seconds. In order for the MFP to produce an A4 image, it will take 88 and 182 seconds, respectively, in draft and best quality modes.

The scanning quality is not satisfactory. The colors in the resulting images are as rich and vibrant as the originals. A resolution of 4800 dpi is enough for any needs of a simple user, a photographer (of course, in the context of CIS technology), and a designer.

Let's summarize. As expected, testing confirmed that the HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c is an excellent MFP that fully meets the needs of modern user. High quality printing, scanning, high speed - everything is with it.

  • monochrome template with repeating text “Center for Alternative Consumables” (font - Times New Roman; size - 1–72; small caps; line spacing- single);
  • multi-page monochrome template with the repeating word “Text” (font - Times New Roman; size - 12; line spacing - single);
  • multi-page template with the repeating word “Text” and a diagram in color (diagram size - a third of each page; font - Times New Roman; point size - 12; line spacing - single);
  • template with photographs (full color and in shades of gray; blanks of different formats).

Conclusion

Manufacturers of inkjet MFPs appeal to vices. This is such a marketing ploy. I must admit, quite effective. Obsessed with acquisitiveness, they say, what if this or that function is suddenly needed (despite the fact that there was no need for it before), a person buys more and more universal MFPs. The hero of today's review is one of them. But this is not just a device loaded with many functions. This is a high class photo center. Functional, providing excellent printing and scanning quality, convenient, let’s not be afraid of these words, technically and functionally thought out. If you want to get a printing combine for all occasions, the HP Photosmart Premium Fax C410c is an excellent choice.

  • excellent quality of document and photo printing, scanning;
  • an abundance of additional functions (duplex printing, automatic document feeding for scanning, fax, card reader);
  • low price.
