On the keyboard of almost any Apple (and not only) device you can type Apple logo. Agree, Pay and Music looks much cooler than regular text! In addition, this way you can reduce the amount of text by 4 characters, which can be critical when writing a post for Twitter or Instagram.

If you have a Mac, then you've probably already noticed that there is no shortcut for the Apple icon on your keyboard. However, dialing it is not that difficult.

Character encoding

The Apple logo symbol displays correctly on all iPhones, iPads, iPod touch, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch. On iOS, macOS and tvOS you can print it, but on watchOS you won’t be able to get it in dictation or drawing mode.

On third-party platforms and browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox And Microsoft Edge the symbol may appear as an empty square, a strange icon, or something else entirely.

This is not Apple's fault.

Both the Apple and Windows logos are part of extended character sets because standard set Unicode cannot include corporate logos. Due to limited implementation, such characters may not be readable on other platforms.

In ASCII encoding, the following meanings correspond to the Apple logo:

  • Decimal code: 240
  • Hexadecimal code: F0
  • Unicode: U+F8FF

On this keyboard you can see the location of all the special characters. Press keys like Control (⌃) and Command (⌘) to see them all.

Remembering the combination is easy, but you can enter this special character in a more elegant way.

iPhone and iPad

Keyboard shortcuts Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K there is no alternative on iOS. However, i-devices have a feature that makes typing  even easier than on a Mac.

We're talking about replacing text (available on macOS too). With its help, you can configure the replacement of any word with the desired symbol (or another word/phrase). For example, this way you can configure the replacement of (c) with the © icon or change aapl to .

Here's how to do it:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Click Basic
  3. Click Keyboard
  4. Click Replacing text
  5. Click on the “ + ” in the top right corner to add a new abbreviation
  6. Copy the  character from this article and paste it into a line Phrase
  7. In line Reduction enter a word, which your iOS device will automatically change to the desired character. For example, 'aapl' - the main thing is not to use words that you regularly write so that the phone does not offer a replacement when it is not needed
  8. Click Save to accept changes

Now every time you type your chosen word and press space, it will change to a logo. This works on both iOS and Mac wherever you enter text: in documents, notes, browser, messages, etc.

The main advantage here is synchronization. Text replacement phrases automatically sync across all your devices via iCloud, so you don't have to set up each device individually.

If you are using wireless keyboard from an iPad or iPhone, you can use the combination Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K, like on a poppy.

Apple Watch

As mentioned, you can't enter a logo on Apple Watch because the watch input methods don't support special characters.

However, this icon is readable in all applications (e.g. Messages And Reminders) because it is supported by the default font in watchOS.

Apple TV

To enter a logo on Apple console TV, do the following:

Method 1 (with external keyboard)

  1. On Apple TV 4 or Apple TV 4K, in Settings, go to Remote access and devices > Bluetooth. On earlier models, simply select Settings > Basic > Bluetooth.
  2. Select your keyboard from the list of available devices.
  3. If the system requires, then enter the 4-digit code
  4. Tap any field that supports text input - such as the search bar in the Settings app
  5. On your keyboard, press Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K

Method 2 (without external keyboard)

  1. On an iPhone or iPad running iOS 11 or higher, open Settings > Control room> N configure controls and click “ + ” next to the item Apple TV Remote
  2. Make sure that the shortcuts are added on your device using the method described above
  3. IN Control room add the Apple TV Remote widget to your smartphone
  4. On Apple TV, use Siri Remote to highlight any text in the input panel
  5. On your iOS device, tap the widget you just added, select the desired set-top box, and if necessary, enter the 4-digit password on the Apple TV screen or tap the notification you receive on iPhone after highlighting text on Apple TV

Note that the widget only works with Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K and requires iOS 11 and higher. If you have an older Apple model TV or you have not yet updated to iOS 11, download free application Apple TV Remote (or iTunes Remote) in App Store to control the set-top box through it.

Using either of these two methods, you can change the name of your Apple TV to tv.

Windows

As we already mentioned, the Apple symbol is included in the extended character set.

It refers to personal use characters that are intended for specific applications and devices that display characters outside the Unicode base set.

This is precisely because Unicode does not contain corporate logos, so the Apple icon will not appear on Windows, Linux and other platforms, and the Windows icon will not be available on the Mac.

There are several ways to enter special characters in Windows, but we'll focus on perhaps the most popular method: alt codes. To do this, you need to hold down the Alt key on the keyboard and type the decimal code of the desired character. Full list codes can be found at unicode-table.com.

Important: Be sure to enter a 0 at the beginning, although in Unicode the decimal code for this character is simply 240.

Don't worry if your laptop doesn't have a numeric keypad: you can still enter special characters. To do this:

  1. Open the document where you want to add the Apple logo
  2. Type on the keyboard F 8 F F
  3. Click Alt-X

The Apple logo will appear where the cursor is in the document.

Note that entering characters via alt will not work if the selected font does not provide graphic image the desired symbol. If this is your case, but you still need this symbol, simply enter it using a different font (Baskerville Old Face will do), copy and paste it where you want in the document.

HTML

The Apple logo and any other special characters may be used in blog posts and web pages with using HTML. To do this, enter the value of the character in Unicode - in our case it is F8FF (Rate)

Among the standard features iOS firmware It is not yet possible to enable tactile vibration signals that are triggered by pressing buttons on the virtual keyboard. Does iPhone have a black keyboard?

For now, the standard black keyboard is only available on iPhone when using Spotlight search or when you turn on . If I'm not mistaken in the previous iOS versions a dark keyboard appeared in some places when reducing transparency and darkening colors in the accessibility contrast settings, but this feature does not work for us.

But while looking for the Belarusian keyboard, we discovered the Yandex.Keyboard application (the link is above), in the settings of this add-on you can enable a black keyboard. iPhone virtual keyboard as a touchpad

iPhone models with 3D Touch support (iPhone 6S, ) now have the ability to use the entire phone display as touchpad to control the cursor. I don’t know if this feature will catch on, but so far it looks like it’s not finished yet.

You can control the cursor in the area of your text only; in principle, this thing will appeal to guys with big fingers who find it difficult to quickly place the cursor in the right place according to the text.

It works like this: press on any part of the iPhone’s virtual keyboard and press with your finger until the letters disappear (if the letters do not disappear, do not press on the screen with full force, check whether 3D Touch is enabled in the settings). As soon as the letters of the virtual keyboard disappear, this means that the touchpad mode is activated and by moving your finger across the screen you control the cursor in your text field. To highlight words or entire sentences, press down on the screen a little more and highlight the desired area. The thing does not work with other people's text, for example, with Web pages.

IN latest firmware Emoji smileys are enabled by default. If you don’t have emoticons, then turn them on like this – “”

Happy iPhone owners are sometimes shocked by how difficult some features are to find. For example, putting a regular number sign, that is, “No,” is not so simple.

Searches on the iPhone or iPad keyboard usually come up empty and then it all ends with the user simply turning to Google for help.

Today I will tell you how to put this sign, where it is located and why Apple always hides all the most necessary functions from us.

Where is the number sign on the iPhone keyboard?

As you probably know, the keyboard for typing on an iPhone is one of the most convenient and fastest among all modern devices.

We have been working on it for years so that you can type text as comfortably and quickly as possible. The same goes for the iPad, where there is a lot more extra.

When it comes to signs, letters and symbols that are simply impossible to find, then everything is so simple. So simple that you will be moving away from it for a long time.

Sometimes people need to put a number sign and all they find is a "#" sign, but we need a "#". Therefore, we follow these steps:

  1. go to any application where there is a keyboard;
  2. we check that there is Russian keyboard layout;
  3. click the icon "123" and then «#+=» ;
  4. looking for a symbol # , holding down which appears the desired number sign.

This miracle works in many cases if you cannot find something. The solution is actually quite logical, because the smartphone screen is not too large.

And so that you don’t have a mess and don’t search for a long time, everything has been placed according to buttons, where you can find two, three, or even more signs.

Upper part iPhone screen, where the so-called “status bar” is located, displays information about the cellular network signal strength, current time, battery charge level and much more. It is not difficult for an experienced user to understand them, but for a beginner they are little clearer than ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. For experienced people for reference, and for beginners to learn by heart our “cheat sheet”.

In the very middle are watch, this is all clear. If desired, the clock can be set to display time in 12 or 24 hour mode. To do this, go to “Settings -> General -> Date and Time”.

On the left in the status bar are displayed: signal strength, operator name and type of network used. Let's take a closer look here:

  1. Signal quality indicator— five circles on the left indicate the signal level of the cellular network and the more shaded, the higher the quality of reception. When only one is painted, the connection is unstable.
  2. Operator name. Meaning " Extended" appears when iPhone is connected to a network other than the one your carrier uses. When iPhone is searching for a network, “Searching” appears instead of the carrier name.
  3. Cellular data network type. If to connect to the Internet instead wireless network Wi-Fi, iPhone uses cellular network (mobile internet), then the operator name is followed by an icon indicating the network type. Possible values: LTE, 4G, 3G, GPRS or E (for EDGE).

P.S.: Charge level iPhone battery can also be shown as a percentage. The function is turned on in “Settings -> General -> Statistics -> Switch “Charge in percentage”. There is an opinion (not confirmed) that displaying this information does not additionally, albeit slightly, increase the load on the battery. Practice shows: when percentages are turned on, the user begins to worry more about the charge level.
