Attention. The Yandex.Disk program can be installed on 32-bit Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 (classic interface), Windows 10 and macOS version 10.11 or higher (El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave).

Check the stability of your Internet connection. If you use proxy servers or firewalls, disable them while installing the program.

I can't log in

Check the program's access rights to the Yandex.Disk folder and the files in it. The files being synced must not be opened in other programs.

Your Disk is full

Disk space has run out. Remove unnecessary files, empty your Trash or buy additional space.

Sync folder is not available

The folder selected for synchronization is unreadable or deleted. Check if this folder is there, or select another one.

Disk is not configured

You installed the program, but did not select a folder for synchronization and did not log in to the program.

Sync folder conflict

The folder specified in the program settings is already in use with another Drive account. You cannot use the same folder for synchronization with different accounts. Select a different folder in the program settings.

Sync folder not selected

The folder that will be synchronized with Drive has not been selected. You can select a folder in the program settings.

Cannot upload a file larger than 10 GB

The Yandex.Disk folder contains files larger than 10 gigabytes. Such files cannot be uploaded to Disk.

The file was not synchronized. What could have happened?

Yandex.Disk cannot upload a file to the server in the following cases:

    your computer is not connected to the Internet;

    synchronization is disabled in Yandex.Disk settings;

    The file size that needs to be synchronized is more than 50 GB;

access to the file is restricted (for example, the file is being used by another program).

If the files are located in the Yandex.Disk folder and are marked with the icon in the program, but the files do not appear on other computers or in the web interface, please let us know using the form at the bottom of the page.

If Avast Mac Security is installed on your macOS, disable secure connection scanning:

Click the Preferences button in the lower left corner of the program window.

In the Web screen section, click the Settings button (under the Turn off button).

Disable the option Scan secure connections.

    Click the Finish button.

The program is stuck in status "Synchronization in progress"

Change long file names in the Yandex.Disk folder to shorter ones. Check whether the program has stable access to the network (antiviruses and firewalls may block the connection).

Low sync speed

Synchronization speed is calculated taking into account traffic and system resource savings. Also, the speed may be limited by your provider - check the speed of your Internet connection.

After registering and creating Yandex Disk, you can customize it at your discretion. Let's look at the basic settings of the program.

Setting up Yandex Disk is called by right-clicking on the program icon in the tray. Here we see a list of recently synced files and a small gear in the lower right corner. That's what we need. Click in the drop-down context menu find the point "Settings".

On this tab, you configure the program to launch when you log in, and enable the ability to receive news from Yandex Disk. The program folder location can also be changed.

If you are actively working with Disk, that is, you constantly access the service and perform some actions, then it is better to enable autoloading - it saves time.

Changing the location of the folder, according to the author, does not make much sense, unless you want to free up space on system disk, and that’s where the folder lies. You can transfer data to any place, even to a flash drive, however, in this case, when you disconnect the drive from the computer, the Disk will stop working.

And one more nuance: you will need to ensure that the drive letter when connecting the flash drive matches that specified in the settings, otherwise the program will not find the path to the folder.

It’s difficult to say anything about the news from Yandex Disk, since during the entire period of use, not a single news arrived.

Account

This is more of an informational tab. Here you can find your Yandex account login, information about volume consumption, and a button to disconnect your computer from Disk.

The button performs the function of exiting Yandex Disk. If you click again, you will have to re-enter your login and password. This can be convenient if there is a need to connect to another account.

Synchronization

All folders that are in the Disk directory are synchronized with the storage, that is, all files that fall into the directory or subfolders are automatically uploaded to the server.

For separate folders synchronization can be disabled, but in this case the folder will be deleted from the computer and will remain only in the cloud. It will also be visible in the settings menu.

Yandex Disk allows you to automatically import photos from a camera connected to your computer. In this case, the program remembers the settings profiles, and the next time you connect you will not have to configure anything.

Button "Forget devices" disconnects all cameras from the computer.

Screenshots

On this tab, you configure hotkeys for calling various functions, the type of name and file format.

The program allows you to use a standard key to take screenshots of the entire screen Prt Scr, but to shoot a specific area you will have to call up the screenshot via a shortcut. This is very inconvenient if you need to take a screenshot of part of a window maximized to full screen (a browser, for example). This is where hotkeys come to the rescue.

You can choose any combination, the main thing is that these combinations are not occupied by the system.

Proxy

You could write a whole treatise about these settings, so we’ll limit ourselves to a short explanation.

Proxy server is a server through which client requests go to the network. It is a kind of screen between local computer and the Internet. Such servers perform various functions - from encrypting traffic to protecting the client PC from attacks.

In any case, if you use a proxy and know why you need it, then configure everything yourself. If not, then it is not needed.

Additionally

This tab allows you to configure automatic installation updates, connection speed, error messages and notifications about shared folders.

Everything is clear here, I’ll only tell you about setting the speed.

Yandex Disk, when synchronizing, downloads files into several streams, occupying a fairly large part of the Internet channel. If there is a need to limit the program's appetite, then you can check this box.

Now we know where the Yandex Disk settings are and what they change in the program. You can start working.

At the end of last month, there was a wave of rumors on the Internet about the imminent opening of a new cloud service for data synchronization from Google. But while everyone was waiting with interest for the appearance of Google Drive, on April 5, Yandex presented a similar service without unnecessary advertising. The day before the launch of the new service, its logo was published on the company’s official Twitter, and users were asked to guess what was hidden behind it.

It turned out that the flying saucer is the emblem of the new Yandex.Disk service. Like the popular Dropbox and SugarSync, it allows you to store files in the cloud and access them from any computer connected to the Internet, as well as from mobile devices.

For now, Yandex.Disk is operating in closed beta testing mode. To receive an invitation, you need to submit an application on the service’s start page. But don’t expect a quick response from Yandex - they promise an invitation within a few weeks.

When another synchronization service appears on the Internet, a completely reasonable question immediately arises: why is it better? Yandex has several obvious advantages over its competitors:

  • Free status. Perhaps in the future some paid packages will appear, but so far there is no talk about it. At the same time, up to 10 GB of data can be stored in online storage. This is five times more than Dropbox gives to new users (although you can get another 16 GB for referred users to Dropbox, but you will have to work for it). Microsoft has 25 GB on SkyDrive, but still does not have a convenient client for working with files on a computer.
  • Unlimited speed by tariff for those providers in whose local network Yandex is located. Full list providers connected to the program " Local network Yandex", .
  • Support for the WebDav protocol, thanks to which Yandex.Disk can work without a “native” client. The service does not yet have a client for Linux, but WebDav support allows you to work with it in this environment.
  • Russian interface. There are still many people for whom this matters.

Like Google, Yandex is moving towards integrating its services. Yandex.Disk is integrated with mail: to access the web interface you need to open the page mail.yandex.ru/neo2/#disk/. The initial storage size is 3 GB, but it can easily be increased to 10 GB in three simple steps: download and install the client for Windows or Mac OS X, upload several files to the service using this program and tell your friends about the new service in social networks or by sending them an email. You need to keep in mind that such a message is not an invitation - it is simply a notification about the availability of a new service.

During the installation and configuration of the Yandex.Disk application, you need to specify an account email on Yandex and decide whether permanent authorization will be enabled on the current computer. Along with the new application, by the way, it is traditionally proposed to install Yandex.Bar and other services from Yandex, so you should be vigilant.

On some computers running Windows control 7, the application does not want to be installed. The developers already know about the problem and promise to solve it, but for now, if you’re unlucky, you can get this message:

If the installation of the application was successful, the Yandex.Disk icon will appear in the tray, and in Explorer you will see the folder of the same name. It works on approximately the same principle as Dropbox: you copy the file to the Yandex.Disk folder - it is immediately uploaded to the server and becomes available through the web interface.

If the application is installed on several computers, all changes are synchronized. You can tell that the files have been successfully synchronized by the green marks on their names in file manager, as well as by the presence of the same mark on the application tray icon (see how similar it is to Dropbox - its icon on the right).

By default, the folder is located at C:\Users\Username\YandexDisk, but its location can be changed in the program settings. There you can also disable the application from starting when the system boots, see how much free space is left, and set manual settings proxy servers.

The file sharing mechanism is implemented as simply as possible. Yandex.Disk adds to the context menu a command that, when selected, generates a link to download a file from the server. The link is immediately shortened and copied to the clipboard. This file sharing mechanism also works for data that has not yet been copied to Yandex.Disk - you can select any file on your computer, and it will be copied to the Disk folder automatically.

Unlike Dropbox, in Yandex.Disk, when you insert a link to a file into the address bar of your browser, the download does not occur automatically. Instead, the user is taken to a page with a file name and a “Download” button. Yandex gets additional advertising, and users get one unnecessary action.

All files to which access has been made can be viewed in the “Published” section in the service’s web interface. If you select a file, you can again get a link to it (this time not a short one), and also make it private again. In this case, it will immediately disappear from the “Published” section.

Before the advent of Disk, Yandex already had a file sharing service, Narod. If the user has files that he previously uploaded to “People”, then you can go to them from the “Published” section and copy them to the “Disk” storage. After this, the file will continue to be stored on a remote Yandex server, but you will no longer have to manually extend its storage time.

The ability to work with files via the web interface still leaves much to be desired. By opening Yandex.Disk in the browser, the user can download previously downloaded files, sort them into folders and add new data from hard drive. To be fair, it should be noted that downloading can be performed in background, so you can freely navigate the service pages while the files are being downloaded.

Viewing currently only works for graphic files. Attempts to view in the browser PDF documents, RTF, MS Office, as well as text and HTML files were not successful - the service only offers to download them. It’s the same with music—MP3s uploaded to the service cannot be listened to from the server.

The “Mail Attachments” folder deserves special attention, in which all sent and received attachments are stored. The size of this folder is not included in the overall Disk quota. In this section, you can quickly find attachments by type (graphics, documents, music, video, archives), as well as by date received or sent, or by sender's name. The attachment file can be downloaded without opening the email. It also asks for a button to copy the attachment to the main Disk storage, but it doesn’t exist yet.

One of the main advantages of Yandex.Disk over Dropbox is support for the WebDAV protocol. Thanks to this, you can manage files in network storage through any program that supports this protocol. Such programs exist for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux - even for FreeBSD. When using Yandex.Disk via WebDAV, you can create a virtual disk that will appear in the list of system devices. In addition, in this case you don’t have to worry about “unnecessary” applications like Yandex.Bar getting into the system. On the other hand, when working with WebDAV, for example, quickly opening access to a file using the context menu command does not work.

To configure access to Yandex.Disk via WebDAV in Windows, you need to select the “Connect” command network drive» in the context menu of the “Computer” element in “Explorer”, then select the letter of the virtual disk, indicate the address of the Yandex server - https://webdav.yandex.ru - and enter the data account mail.

After this, the virtual disk will appear in the list of devices. Instructions for connecting Disk via WebDav for other systems can be found in the Yandex help center.

Now a couple more words about mobile applications, because their availability is for many the main factor for choosing a synchronization service. Yandex offers apps for Android and iOS devices, but don't try to find Yandex.Disk in Google Play And App Store. "Disk" is available not as a separate application, but as part of the updated "Yandex.Mail". Of course, not everyone will like this, but for those who already use mail from Yandex, the convenience is obvious - additional application no need to install.

The disk is presented in a separate tab of the program. After the first launch, you need to wait a little until a list of files stored on the service appears.

Files can be downloaded to the device, and there is also the ability to upload photos and any other data from a mobile phone to Yandex.Disk. For exchanging files between a computer and a mobile device, Yandex.Disk and similar services are a godsend. It’s hard to think of a more convenient way to copy files than to upload them to Disk from your mobile phone, and then work with them on your computer in a couple of seconds.

⇡ Conclusion

Although skeptics continue to insist that storing files “on a stranger’s server” is unsafe, even they have to agree: it’s damn convenient. Synchronization services allow us not to think about which computer we last worked with a file on and which trouser pocket we left a flash drive with the latest copy in. They also provide the most convenient file sharing between computers and mobile devices, so it is not surprising that the number of users of Dropbox, SugarSync and other services is growing every day.

Yandex.Disk is a very interesting project, the development of which took into account many successful developments of other services. Therefore, despite the “beta” prefix, the service is already quite competitive and for the Russian-speaking audience it is an excellent alternative Dropbox. We hope that we won’t have to wait long for the expansion of functionality and the completion of the closed testing stage. It will still be very interesting to see what Google's response will be.

Matches the data on the server due to synchronization. Accordingly, if it does not work, then the point of using the software version of the storage is lost. Therefore, the situation needs to be corrected as soon as possible.

The way to solve the problem will depend on the cause of its occurrence. In any of the cases, you can figure out why Yandex Disk is not synchronizing on your own without spending a lot of time.

Reason 1: Synchronization is not enabled

To begin with, the most obvious thing would be to check whether synchronization is enabled in the program. To do this, click on the Yandex Disk icon and find out about its status at the top of the window. To turn it on, press the corresponding button.

Reason 2: Internet connection problems

If in the program window you see a message "Connection error", then it would be logical to check whether the computer is connected to the Internet.

To check your Internet connection, click on the icon "Net". If necessary, connect to your work network.

Please also note the status of your current connection. There should be a status here "Internet access". Otherwise, you need to contact your provider, who is obliged to solve the connection problem.

Sometimes the error may occur due to low Internet connection speed. Therefore, you need to try to start synchronization by disabling other applications that use the Internet.

Reason 3: No storage space

Perhaps your Yandex Disk has simply run out of space and there is nowhere for new files to be uploaded. To check this, go to the “cloud” page and look at its fullness scale. It is located at the bottom of the side column.

For synchronization to work, the storage must be cleared or expanded.

Reason 4: Synchronization is blocked by the antivirus

In rare cases antivirus program may block Yandex Disk synchronization. Try turning it off for a while and observe the result.

Reason 5: Individual files are not synchronized

Some files may not sync because:

  • the weight of these files is too large to be placed in storage;
  • these files are used by other programs.

In the first case, you need to take care of free space on the disk, and in the second - close all programs where the problematic file is open.

Note: files larger than 10 GB cannot be uploaded to Yandex Disk at all.

Reason 6: Blocking Yandex in Ukraine

Due to recent innovations in the legislation of Ukraine, Yandex and all its services have ceased to be available to users of this country. The operation of Yandex Disk synchronization is also in question, because Data exchange occurs with Yandex servers. The specialists of this company are doing everything possible to solve the problem, but for now Ukrainians are forced to look for ways to bypass the blocking on their own.

You can try to resume synchronization using a VPN connection. But in this case we are not talking about numerous extensions for browsers - you will need a separate VPN app, so that connections of all applications, including Yandex Disk, are encrypted.

Error message

If none of the above methods helps, then the right thing to do is to report the problem to the developers. To do this, click on the settings icon, hover over the item "Reference" and select “Report an error to Yandex”.

You will soon receive a response from support regarding your problem.

To ensure timely changes to data in the storage, synchronization must be enabled in the Yandex Disk program. For it to work, the computer must be connected to the Internet, there must be enough space in the “cloud” for new files, and the files themselves must not be opened in other programs. If you cannot find out the cause of synchronization problems, contact Yandex support.

Every time you copy a file to a Yandex.Disk folder, edit or delete a file, all changes are duplicated on the Drive server: they can be seen on. And vice versa - if you upload files on the site, they will automatically appear in the Yandex.Disk program on your computer.

This way, the same files are visible on Disk from all your devices connected to the Internet. And if, for example, you delete files on your computer, they will also be deleted from the cloud. If you want to delete a file from your computer but keep it on the server, set up selective sync.

Note. You won't be able to sync files on your phone. You can only download and upload files manually. But you can enable unlimited auto-upload of photos and videos.

What happens when a file changes simultaneously on different devices?

Let's say you drew a picture kartinka.jpg on a computer disconnected from the Internet, and then uploaded a photo with the same name to Disk with mobile phone.

When you connect your computer to the Internet, Yandex.Disk will begin synchronizing. Having discovered different files with the same names, Disk will rename one of them: as a result, the files will be called kartinka.jpg and kartinka (2).jpg.

Selective folder synchronization

The Yandex.Disk 3.0 program allows you to synchronize not all files from your Disk with your computer in order to save space on your computer. For example, if you often work with the Documents folder, enable synchronization for it - this folder will be stored on your computer. The remaining folders will be stored only in the cloud, but will also be available in the program.

Detailed instructions for setting up selective synchronization:

Synchronization status in the program

How are changed files synchronized?

Yandex.Disk determines which parts of the file have been changed and uploads only the changed fragments to the server, and not the entire file.

On how many devices can Yandex.Disk be used?

Theoretically, you can install the Yandex.Disk application and program on any number of devices, but we do not recommend this. If you work with the same files on different devices At the same time, conflicts may arise - files may be duplicated or lost.

Can I use removable media as a synchronization folder?

I turned off synchronization, but the files still end up on disk

Other people's files can end up on your Yandex.Disk if you log in to someone else's mobile device. In this case, when autoupload is enabled, files from the device will be uploaded to Yandex.Disk.

You can stop uploading other people's files to your Yandex.Disk in the following ways:

Log out on all devices To prevent other people's files from getting into your Yandex.Disk, log out of Yandex.Disk on all devices. Revoke program access

You can also revoke access of Yandex.Disk programs and applications to your files on the server.
