  • In the “Interval” field, set the value 1 second. In the “Focus” field, set the value 30 minutes. If you downloaded the free version, the value will be limited to 10 minutes, so we recommend using trial version paid version, or buy full version programs. After that, click on the button with the green arrow.

  • Click on last point network route, right-click and select “Show time graph” from the drop-down menu.

  • As a result, a symbol depicting three rectangles of different sizes will appear in the column next to the number of the last node of the network route, and a graph will be displayed at the bottom. (In the paid version of the program, you can check the “Show time graph” item in all lines, after which as many graphs will be displayed as there are total nodes in the route.)
  • Done, the program is configured. Now with its help you can check where losses and delays of network packets occur (lags and high ping) on the way from your computer to the game server. Read more about how to do this.
  • High ping in World of Tanks is a common problem.

Ping is the delay in receiving a response from the server. This is the time during which the signal sent by the client reaches the game server and returns back. Ping is measured in milliseconds(1000 ms = 1 s) and is always displayed during battle in the upper left corner of the screen near the FPS counter.

What is normal ping? Best ping – up to 60 ms(usually marked in green). WITH 60-120 ms(orange or yellow) can also be played, but there will be periodic twitching. If the value rises above 120 ms(red), you can forget about comfortable gameplay.

With high ping it becomes impossible to play normally. Lags, freezes, and freezes appear. The number of frames per second decreases. The shots are delayed for 1-2 seconds, and the enemy manages to move away from the sight.

Sound familiar? There is a solution.

Why is the ping high: diagnosing the problem

To understand how to lower the ping in World of Tanks, you must first understand why it is increased. The reasons may be as follows.

    • Channel busy. If, in parallel with the game, data is downloaded from the network (for example, files from a torrent), it will take up most of the Internet speed. Because of this, the client may not have time to process the required number of network packets, and the ping in WOT will increase. This applies not only to downloads, but also voice communication like Skype. Also, the reason may be background updates of programs, antivirus, or the operating system. In this case, the ping will be unstable even with good internet.
    • Router overloaded. One of the routers on the way to the server cannot cope with the volume of data. This situation occurs when several users use the same WI-FI router.
    • Server overload. Due to too many players online, the server may not be able to process the data, which will lead to ping spikes.
    • Distance to server. The farther the game server is from the player, the longer the signal will take to reach it. That is, if you are from Russia and the server is located in the USA, the ping will be high and unstable.
    • Unstable connectionWi-Fi/mobile 3G/satellite internet. IN wireless networks Interference often occurs that interferes with data transmission. Because of this, the ping in World of Tanks may periodically fluctuate. For online games, it is recommended to use a wired connection.
    • Internet speed. If the Internet speed is low, the client may not have time to send/receive network packets. Accordingly, the delay - ping - in the game will be increased. The best solution in this case, change the tariff or provider.
    • The computer is too weak. We are talking about the power of the processor and video card. If it is insufficient, the PC simply does not have enough system resources to send/receive/process the signal. WOT ping on weak devices is almost always too high.
    • Viruses that eat traffic. This is extremely unlikely, but there may be viruses on the computer that are transmitting some data to the network in the background or interfering with the normal sending of network packets. It makes sense to conduct a full scan of your PC with an antivirus.

    Now about diagnostics.

There are a number of programs that check and show the ping of WOT servers (you can find them below). But there is an easier way to find out the delay time without downloading or installing anything.

This way you can check any server, not just the ping in World of Tanks.

Your task is to choose a server with the lowest ping from those closest geographically to play. This can be done in a couple of minutes using the described method and the table of server locations from the official WOT wiki, the link to which is given above. But what to do, the server is close, but the ping still fluctuates?

Diagnosis of the cause of delays

To determine why the ping in World of Tanks is fluctuating, there are 2 programs. If you are not an IT specialist, there is no point in understanding them in depth. All you need to do is create reports and send them to Wargaming support. The Belarusians clearly wrote about how to do this in the official World of Tanks help.

    • PingPlotter. A program specifically for network diagnostics. WG wrote about how to set it up and create a report.
    • WGCheck. This application was developed by Wargaming itself for network diagnostics, checking the integrity of the game client and similar tasks. You can download the program on this page. Instructions for creating a report are also given there.

If you have a powerful computer, good internet, and the ping is off the charts for some unknown reason, create 2 reports using the listed programs and send them to the Wargaming Control Center. Our specialists will quickly find the problem and tell you what to do next. In most cases this is the most effective solution.

How to lower ping in World of Tanks

    What can you do yourself?

    1. Change server. At the beginning of the article, we found out what ping should ideally be - up to 60 ms. Choose a server with the lowest ping and play on it.
    2. Lower graphics settings. Visual excesses load not only the video card, but also the processor. You will practically not feel their absence in the game, but the ping in World of Tanks may decrease. If everything is really bad with the hardware, you can use a mod WOT Tweeker . It will kill WOT graphics to Tetris levels, thereby increasing performance and decreasing ping.
    3. Disable antivirus/firewall/firewall. Constant traffic checks antivirus protection may cause high ping in World of Tanks. Disable them while playing or add the game itself to exceptions.
    4. Scan your PC for viruses. The likelihood that malware and spyware are eating your traffic is negligible, but it can't hurt to be 100% sure.
    5. Update drivers. In particular, the video card driver. As mentioned above, poor performance can cause ping spikes and increases.

Some sites advise making changes to the registry or limiting the RAM consumed WOT client, through command line. It's not worth doing this . At least until we receive a response from Wargaming technical support. Damage to the registry may result in you having to reinstall Windows and result in pings. RAM, it’s not clear at all...

Game Feedom WOT Ping is a completely free utility designed for ping World servers of Tanks and further selection of the optimal server for the game.

Why is this needed: In addition to FPS (the number of displayed frames per second), Ping to the game server (ping) is the most important indicator that affects the “playability” of the game. online games. Ping is the time spent transmitting a packet from the client to the game server and back.

The lower the ping, the faster you receive data from the server about changes in the game world. At the same time, striving for absolutely zero ping in online games doesn’t make much sense. For example, you will not see a difference when playing World of Tanks with a ping of 20 or 40, while at the same time, the difference may be noticeable with a ping of 100 -200.

As the ping increases, so-called “lags” appear - jerks and delays in the gameplay, annoying during battle. If you do not experience such delays, there is no point in worrying about your ping.

Using the Game Freedom WoT ping program

    • Unzip to any folder and run the program.
    • Using the appropriate checkboxes, select the WOT servers needed to ping
    • Select the desired number of requests to each server. If you have an unstable connection, for greater accuracy the number of requests must be increased
    • Start the ping procedure by clicking on "Ping WOT servers"
    • Wait for the procedure to complete and evaluate the final data.
    • To check the ping to the Game Freedom gateway, copy the current IP address of the gateway from the Game Freedom project website and paste it into the appropriate field, or click the “Get gateway address” button (the address will be automatically checked and entered).
    • The "reset" button resets the servers selected for ping.

You should choose servers for the game with the lowest ping rates.

If you see the message: “Connection timeout,” it means the packet did not reach the server or too much time has passed. If there are many such responses to the server, there may be lags and choose this server not worth it.

If the "Connection timeout" is constant, it means the server is disconnected and inaccessible.

If "Connection Timeout" is for all servers, most likely the protocol used for ping is blocked by your firewall or proxy. Without permission to use the ICMP protocol, you will not be able to ping the server.

If you see the message “Server not found”, the server IP address is incorrect or there has been a network failure (Internet DNS name resolution service).

If you use the Game Freedom gateway to play WOT, then the ping from you to the World of Tanks servers becomes unimportant. In this case, the ping from you to the Game Freedom gateway is important. You can check the ping indicators using the corresponding checkbox.

Attention! Do not use Wot Ping through the Game Freedom client snap-in. Due to the specifics of the protocol, ping directly through the gateway is not possible. You will see either your direct ping from your computer to the Wot server, or a connection timeout if ping is blocked on your network. When playing through the GF gateway, use the ping data to the WOT servers indicated on the corresponding page WOT via proxy to select the optimal server.

The ping to the gateway itself can be found using the WOT ping program.

The total ping can be easily calculated by adding your ping to the GF gateway with the ping from the GF to the WOT server. To determine the ping to the gateway, run Wot Ping in the usual way (not through the gateway).

    Factors affecting ping

    • Speed and congestion of the communication channel. The wider and better the communication channel, the higher the ping rates.
    • Remoteness. The further you are from the servers (or the Game Freedom gateway), the higher the ping. You can estimate the distance using the Tracert command by counting the number of steps (jumps) to the server.
    • Computer processing power. If you have old computer and cheap network card, which loads the processor, your computer will need more time to process incoming information, which in turn will increase the ping.
    • Performance of network equipment “on the road” to the server. If you are using a cheap router or caching proxy that is not capable of processing packets quickly, your ping performance may deteriorate dramatically.

Ways to reduce ping in World of Tanks

While playing, turn off other applications and services that use your Internet connection. If you have an inexpensive router or a weak communication channel, each such application can greatly change the ping indicators.

If you play through a corporate gateway or proxy server, the speed of your Internet connection is divided among all network participants. The more users use the Internet, the higher the ping.

Try using an alternative IP address Game Freedom gateway. The gateway is connected to different highways, perhaps the channel in your direction is overloaded.

If you are experiencing lags and high ping in the game, using a computer with low processing power, it can help you decreasing graphics settings and details in the game. Try setting the game settings to minimum and evaluate the playability with these parameters. The higher the graphics settings, the more information is transmitted over the communication channel and the higher the ping in the game.

IN World settings of Tanks, disable voice communication if you do not need it. Even if you are not using a microphone, when this option is enabled, the game creates an additional connection to the voice exchange server.

Choose a server with minimal ping to play. You can evaluate the connection speed to different servers using the GF WoT Ping program. Check your ping indicators periodically - ping may change depending on the load of game servers and communication channels to them.

Server selection (for Games World of Tanks) is done in the login and password entry window. The default is "Auto" (Automatic server selection). In other games, the server may be selected differently.

Note: If you play through our Game Freedom game gateway, you must select servers with minimal ping from our gateway to the WoT server. This information located on the website page WOT via proxy. The ping from you to the WOT server is not important in this case. The ping from you to the Game Freedom gateway is important.

Disable client distribution while playing in the launcher. Distributing torrents increases the load on the channel and ping:

If you have a provider with old, cheap equipment and overloaded communication channels, only changing the provider will help you! ;)

PingCheck is best program to check the ping of World of Tanks servers. Its functionality, unlike its competitors, has been expanded many times over, for example, you can check the ping of not only tanks, but also other games of the company, the same ships.

    • Ping check. Ping is the main criterion when choosing a server, because if the numbers are large, the machine will respond to commands with a noticeable delay, which will lead to a decrease in your effectiveness on the battlefield. Manually checking ping by logging into each of nine servers is not very convenient, which is why PingCheck was created. In addition, you can check ping not only WoT servers, but also World of Warplanes, as well as WofW (although the ships have only one server, there is no particular benefit). The most comfortable ping values are marked in green, others in red.
    • The ability to change the server region if you want to check not only the ping of the Russian region, but also the European one.
    • PingCheck includes a news feed, but not all of them, only those related to technical work on the servers.

As a result, you and I received an excellent program that will rightfully take its place next to the amazing solution to combat slowdowns in the game - .

    Installation and use

    • Extract the contents of the archive into a separate folder.
    • Launch the exe file, select the desired game and look at the ping.
