All iPhone users must use a program such as App Store, without it a fashionable gadget loses many functions, necessary for modern man. When buying a new smartphone, a person must go to this program store in order to download from there other programs that he plans to use.

This may be different social media, productivity apps and games. There are a lot of different applications in the App Store that both help a person stay productive and exist simply for entertainment. In order to download any program, you must agree to the rules of its use.

In the description of many programs, you will notice that there is a note that it has in-app purchases. What is this and does this mean that by installing the program you agree to purchase something inside the program?

So, they only buy additional content within a program. Not all programs have this option, so you need to pay attention on the inscription next to the “download” button or “buy”. If the inscription says that this application includes in-app purchases, then the program supports this function.

If there is no download fee, then the user will see a “download” button, but this does not mean that the program will be for you absolutely free.

It may require a one-time or monthly subscription to some content, while this subscription can open both some specific functions of the program, which you, in principle, can refuse, and all existing ones in principle - in this case, without a subscription, you will not be able to use the program at all.

Additional content purchased in the application may vary, and there are several types.

It could be consumables, they are usually present in games, these can be additional lives, some currency that is valid only within the game. Such a purchase is always made as needed, that is, if the user runs out of lives in the game, then he can buy them, but until they run out, there is no need to purchase them.

And every time, if necessary, the user must again buy the consumables he is interested in. It's worth noting that some apps won't transfer content you've purchased to another device. That is, if the game was originally installed on an iPod and purchases were made on it, then if you install the game on an iPhone, the level you achieved in the game will be transferred, but the purchases will not.

Non-consumables, which are purchased only once. These purchases transfer from one device to another if they share Apple ID. Such purchases can also be restored. Typically this may involve turning off advertising in the program, purchasing additional characters, accessories, or additional game levels.

There are also non-renewable subscriptions, usually subscription for a certain period or seasonal. The purchase of the next similar content is possible only after the end of the previous one. In this case, the user must purchase the subscription he needs. Renewable subscriptions automatically renew after the previous one ends.

Typically this subscription is made once a week, month or year. Many customer acquisition programs can provide free trial version. When purchasing such a subscription, if you want to unsubscribe from its constant renewal, you will need to perform a certain set of actions.

In order to make a purchase built into the program, you need to enter your ID. If you are unable to complete your purchase, you should check the entries you entered. card details or electronic wallet, with which you want to pay for this purchase.

So, an in-app purchase doesn't mean you are forced to buy anything when you download it. Only you should make the decision to purchase additional content, and the device is required at least once will ask you to confirm your desire purchase any in-app purchase. Such purchases can be different, sometimes the application cannot work without them, and sometimes it is quite possible to do without such purchases.

You can make in-app purchases in the same way as you usually buy paid apps in the AppStore. Typically, such purchases are made in games; many users make such purchases so that the user has more options in the game.

Also, such purchases are often made in applications with video content or in magazines, when you need to buy a subscription every month.

It is difficult to imagine a modern mobile gadget without a lot of applications that are constantly being improved and updated. But nothing comes from nowhere, and therefore the user must download each application to his smartphone or tablet himself. For owners of Apple equipment, as you know, the source of content is the App Store.

How to buy whatever your heart desires on the App Store

If you're already at least minimally familiar with the App Store (if not, get acquainted now), then it's time to shop here. By the way, this does not necessarily entail expenses - many applications are available for free download.

This article is designed to teach you all this. Let's go.

In order to purchase/download anything from the App Store, you first need to have an Apple ID, which you receive when you first register in the app store. And only after successful registration you can make purchases in the App Store (you can see the structure of the application store).

Not every AppStore purchase requires payment. Hello free downloads!

How to download paid apps from the App Store

To download a paid application, all steps are similar to downloading a free one, only at the end you will need to select a payment method, if during registration you did not indicate a credit card in the “payment methods” section.

If you initially selected a credit card, then upon purchase the money will be automatically debited from it. But it is not always possible to use the map, especially in the App Store. For example, changing your account country (without physically being in it) requires using a bank card from your “new” country, which, of course, is impossible. But there are options – and more about them below.

How to pay for the App Store

Credit or debit cards

At first glance, the simplest and most logical method of payment is credit or debit cards, the numbers of which you enter when Apple registration ID. But very often there is no way to “connect” the card with the App Store - it gives an error or the payment simply does not go through, so you are left without the application. And even if you managed to register a card, you should make purchases on the Internet with the utmost caution. In general, the user may be a minor, but such cards are not allowed. So, paying by card is a good method, but not entirely reliable.

Promotional codes or gift cards for iTunes, App Store, Apple Music

Promotional codes, as you understand, allow you to get discounts in the App Store when purchasing paid applications, and gift cards - to pay (in whole or in part) for purchases.

Promotional codes for the App Store are often given out for free on discount sites, and gift cards can be purchased at terminals or stores cellular communications. An App Store gift card allows you to credit the user's account with an amount equal to its face value. Money is credited to the account Apple user ID, and you can use them in stores iTunes Store, App Store and iBooks Store. The main condition is that you must log in using the same Apple ID to which the funds were credited.

Please note that the money from an Apple Music gift card only applies to a subscription to this service and can only be spent on an individual subscription (we'll talk about subscriptions below).

To activate the promotional code you need:

  1. go to the App Store and scroll to the bottom of the screen, where you select “enter code”;
  2. Enter the promotional code in the pop-up window and click “Done.”

We work similarly with iTunes, App Store, Apple Music cards

Payment systems

There are many of them: PayPal, IPay.ua, Apple Pay, Webmoney Transfer, YandexMoney, Alipay, Portmone.com, Privat 24.

Please note that some of the named systems do not have official confirmation of activity in Ukraine. But this fact does not prevent them from making payments ☺.

PayPal is one of the largest debit payment systems that operates in more than 190 countries. Its service allows you to make purchases in almost all areas. This system is also available in Ukraine, but it is not possible to freely withdraw and transfer money from it. However, this will not scare our users. After making some manipulations and changing the geolocation in the App Store (read what geolocation is and why it is needed), you can use this system in the App Store application without restrictions. PayPal is registered quite often in the Baltic countries, Poland, Russia and other countries. Registration on the site is clear, you just need to carefully read and fill out the fields.

But, of course, it is better to use official services, for example, Portmone, YandexMoney, Privat 24, etc. The activity of their use is now quite high, which gives confidence in their reliability. It is quite simple to register on the website, following the prompts.

How to cancel an App Store purchase

Don't worry: you can get your money back if you don't like the app you downloaded.

You can do this as follows:

  • go to iTunse, click on the “Account” item;
  • Next, open the “Purchase History” item, click “Report a problem”

How to remove purchases from the App Store and get your money back

  • Then in the drop-down list, select the item that suits us, for example, “Purchase made by mistake.” After some time, you will receive an email with a lot of text about the rules for purchasing in the App Store. The money will be returned approximately within 10 days. We advise you not to joke with this method and not to use it often, as soon you will simply be refused a refund.
Of course, some craftsmen manage to use this application after returning the money (unless you deleted it, otherwise re-installation will be paid). But we didn’t teach you this!

What are in-app purchases in the App Store?

A naive user believes that there can only be two types of purchases in the app store: paid and free. But no! There is also such a subtle marketing ploy as in-app purchases. This is, for example, when the creator of a game releases it free version, and already inside the game the addicted user is invited to purchase an extended version of the application. This offer to purchase additionally is an in-app purchase - paid, of course. You can make it according to the same scheme as a regular paid purchase.

The user is warned that the application contains in-app purchases by a phrase under the very name of the program in its description. If you scroll down the description below, you will see a list of in-app purchases with prices.

If you don't want to fall for the trick with in-app purchases, you can disable them.

How to disable in-app purchases in the App Store

It couldn't be easier to do this. Go to “Settings” – “General” – “Restrictions” – “Enable restrictions”. The system will require you to enter a password to enter and remove restrictions. This password must not be the same as the device password.

App Store Subscriptions

You probably think that the buying process always looks like this: come, see, pay (one-time) - and that’s it. But no. The App Store also has such a thing as a subscription. The logic is as follows: regardless of purchases, the user pays a certain amount once per period, and then downloads content on an all-inclusive basis. There are subscriptions to Apple Music (first 3 months free), iCloud music library (more than 5 GB free) and iTunes Match service, various newspapers, magazines, Internet services or built-in services in any applications.

You create any subscription yourself - while studying the terms of the subscription, of course. It can be one-time (for example, you subscribed for six months, paid, and after six months, if desired, you manually subscribed again) or automatically renewed (you paid for a certain period when you subscribed, and after this period the system itself will automatically withdraw money from your account).

To do this, go to “Settings” – “iTunes Store and App Store”. Tap on your Apple ID, enter your password, then select “Subscriptions” - “Manage”.

How to cancel your App Store subscription

Select the subscription you need and change it (for example, expiration date) or remove renewal - and then after the current validity period expires, it will no longer be renewed, and you will not have to pay any more.

Managing your iCloud and iTunes Match subscriptions doesn't follow a cookie-cutter approach. Open accordingly:

  • “Settings” – “iCloud” – “Storage” – “Change storage plan” or
  • “Settings” – “Music” – “Subscribe to iTunes Match”

In general, the information obtained from this article should be enough for you to have a successful shopping experience in the App Store. And if you have any questions, you are welcome to comment, gg not without good people.

I wanted to write this article for a very long time, but laziness, aliens, traffic jams... What prompted me to take action was a recent question on the site: “If I buy an application, will I be charged for in-app purchases?”... Our readers generally have trouble with in-app purchases... Questions many and they are very different.

In this article, I'll go over the types of purchases in the App Store. Then I will give basic advice to beginners. From now on, this is where I will send people who make their first purchases in the App Store and ask all sorts of questions on the topic, the answers to which seem obvious to me.

Types of App Store purchases

In total I have identified 5 types:

  • Paid apps with in-app purchases
  • Free apps with no in-app purchases
  • Free apps with in-app purchases
  • Lite versions with the ability to unlock the full version

Paid apps without in-app purchases

The most clear and logical type of purchase in the App Store. There is a product - a program or a game. We pay money and receive an application ready to use.

The advantages of this type of transaction: the buyer immediately knows the final cost of the application. Also, such applications can often be purchased at a better price as a result of single promotions and global holiday sales. Sometimes they even become “temporarily free.” You can even keep track of sales directly on our website.

This type of App Store purchase is becoming increasingly rare. Developers are trying to convert even well-deserved hits to more profitable methods of monetization.

5. Focus on reviews of the game online, but remember that on many sites a popular service for developers is “paid review,” which does not have the most positive effect on objectivity. Sometimes you don’t understand whether they praise it because the reviewer really liked the game, or because the article was simply purchased.

7. If you purchased the application once, it will remain linked to your account. It will not be possible to transfer it to another account! You can download this application again for free at any time, no matter how much it costs at the current time. Of course, if it has not yet been removed from the App Store (rarely happens).

8. If you made an in-app purchase, it is also linked to your account. In the future even after complete reinstallation application, you can safely try to pay for the in-app purchase again (if there is an option in the application, use the function: “Restore purchases”). The app will tell you that you already own it and the purchase is free for you. Please note: this does not apply to all types of in-app purchases; you can read more about them in the article

You recently deleted the application, and now you need it again? Have you wondered how many games and programs you have downloaded in your entire life? All this can be found in the App Store download history. But how to access it? Now we'll tell you.

Apple has made it easier for its users to view their purchase history. Now you can find out what and when you purchased from the App Store and iTunes directly in the Settings application on your iOS device.

Previously, you could only view your purchase history in iTunes on your Mac or PC.

To view your purchase history in the Settings app on your iOS device, you need to:

1. Go to "Settings""iTunes and App Store".

2. Enter your Apple ID (or click on E-mail (Apple ID) if it is displayed at the top) and select "View Apple ID", after which the system will ask you to enter a password or use Touch ID or Face ID.

If you use the function "Family Sharing", you will only see the history of your purchases and will not be able to find out what other members of your family bought. To view their purchase history, you need to sign in with their Apple ID.

3. Scroll to "Purchase History" and click on it.

In the “Purchase History” section, purchases are sorted by the date they were charged. Clicking the button "The Last 90 Days", you can change the display of the list of completed purchases by year.

Items for which payment has not yet been processed by the bank will be marked as "Waiting". By clicking on a product indicated in the history, you can find out the date of its purchase/download and the name of the device from which the purchase was made. If you notice any discrepancies, click the button "Report a problem".

If you accidentally deleted something that came to you email proof of purchase, you can request a new one by clicking on the button "Resend".

How to see all the apps you've ever downloaded on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

1. Open Settings → iTunes Store and App Store and log in to your account.

2. Open the application App Store.

3. Click on your profile icon at the top right.

4. Select Shopping → My purchases.

Here's a collection of all the apps you've ever downloaded to this device from your Apple ID—both paid and free games and programs. They are divided into two groups – All And Not on this iPhone/iPad/iPod. The second group displays applications that are not currently on your device. In addition, a search function by name is available.

Please note - if your device is running iOS control 11 and newer, you won't be able to download 32-bit apps from the "My Purchases" section - the developer must first update the app or game so that it becomes 64-bit (this is a new requirement in iOS starting with version 11). You cannot download applications that have been removed from the App Store for one reason or another, although they will still be in the list.

Every time you buy a rare sword for a hero in the game, full version applications or content subscription, know that Apple’s in-app purchase system (In-App Purchase) works for you. The downside is that often another person – for example, a small child – can “buy” everything. How to avoid such expenses?

Fortunately, Apple has provided a simple solution to the problem: in Settings you can completely disable in-app purchases. Below we will talk about how to do this on various Apple devices.

On iOS 12 and later

With the release of iOS 12, the process of controlling restrictions in mobile operating system moved to the settings section called Screen time. To disable in-app purchases, follow these steps:

1. Open the application Settings and go to the section Screen time.

3. On the screen with a description of the features Screen time click Further.

4. On the screen with a question “Is this iPhone (iPad) for you or for your child?” at the bottom of the screen click This is my child's iPhone (iPad).

5. On the screen "At rest", select an option Not now.

6. On the screen "Program limits", select an option Not now.

7. On the screen click Further.

8. Create (come up with) a password code that is required to make changes in the section Screen time or to allow in-app purchases.

9. Go to menu "Content and Privacy" section Screen time and enter the password code from step 8.

10. Set the switch "Content and Privacy" to position Included.

11. Go to menu "Purchases from the iTunes Store and App Store".

12. Click on the item In-App Purchases and select an option No.

After completing these steps, each time you request to make an in-app purchase, iOS will request the passcode from step 8.

On iPhone and iPad with iOS 7 - iOS 11

1. Open Settings, select BasicRestrictions.

2. Enter your password for restrictions (or create and confirm a new one). It is recommended not to enter the same password that you use to unlock your iPhone/iPad.

3. To disable in-app purchases, go down a little and deactivate the switch next to the inscription In-App Purchases.

Helpful tip: Take a closer look at the settings in this section. Perhaps you should disable other items - Installing programs, Uninstalling programs, etc..

Unfortunately, Macs are not familiar with the detailed protection mechanism against in-app purchases. However, this is not a problem - a little “shamanism” in the settings is quite enough for us. We will make it so that Mac will require every time you purchase an application through Mac App Store or any content in applications.

On macOS 10.14 and later

1. Open the App Store app and go to its settings.

2. In the drop-down menu opposite the inscription Purchases and in-app purchases click on Always ask.

On macOS 10.9 - 10.13

1. Open System Settings on your Mac (to do this, use the “gear” icon in the Dock or search query through Spotlight).

2. Select a section App Store.

3. In the drop-down menu opposite the inscription Purchases and in-app purchases click on Always ask.

Helpful tip: there is no point in asking for a password for free downloads, so in the item of the same name you can select Save password.

1. Go to the address SettingsBasicRestrictions.

2. Enable restrictions, if you have not done so before, create a 4-digit PIN code.

3. In the tab iTunes Store Choose the appropriate level of security for purchases in the iTunes Store and tvOS App Store - download everything you want, download after entering a PIN code, or block all in-app purchases by default.

Helpful tip: If desired, purchases can be protected with a more secure Apple ID password. To do this, in the password settings ( SettingsAccounts -→ iTunes and App StoreIn-app and other purchases) select Password request → Always.
