Setting special ringtones on Android versions 2 and 3

These versions were released 5 years ago, in mid-2009. The main efforts of their creators were aimed mainly at improving the level of security, as well as optimizing the available memory and system performance. At that time, the possibility of setting non-standard ringtones through the usual setup of personal calls had not yet been realized. That is why, before setting a ringtone to the call old version"Android", you need to prepare in advance. The most common and in simple ways are creating special folders or installing a soundtrack through a standard player.

  3. An Audio subdirectory is created in the selected folder.

This method is also more suitable for earlier versions of the presented system. To begin with, it is required that the desired melody has already been downloaded via a USB connection or other available channels.

Then in the standard menu of the “Android” smartphone, select the “Music” icon. When pressed, the media player turns on. Then, using the "Settings" key, the menu opens. The fundamental difference between modern modifications of the well-known Android systems consists in the presence of many additional settings. With the help of them you can easily make your own mobile device individual and recognizable. Regarding the topic of how to set a ringtone on Android, there are also several ways.

  • Change and fill in any personal contact in your smartphone's phone book. To do this you just need to select desired number, V context menu select the "Change" option and select the ringtone setting from the list of settings. In the presented gallery of ringtones, you can also download your own melody from your phone memory.

The most famous of them are Ringo + Ringtones, Audio Ringtones, Ringtone Maker and many other interesting and original programs. In addition, many of them allow you to edit existing tracks and cut out parts you like specifically for specific calls or SMS.

By installing your melody on Android 4.2, 4.4, 5, 5.0, 5.1, 6 or even 7, you can personalize the purchased phone, for example, fly.

Without a doubt, the most common personalization option is a wallpaper, customizable sounds including SMS and alarm clock will also give it a personal touch.

Smartphone manufacturers offer their own set of specially designed sounds by default, however, most of us set our favorite songs.

Very often, a ringtone can be set using the built-in music player while listening to the selected ringtone.

But this is not a rule, and depends on the device manufacturer. Luckily, there is a way to set your favorite tone on any phone/smartphone and any version of Android.

Two options are discussed below. The pictures will be from Android version 5.1, but on others 4.2, 4.4, 5, 5.0, 6, 7 it’s almost the same.

Set your own ringtone to your phone using the built-in tools of Android 5.1

First, you need to put your favorite song in the music folder on your phone.

Then go to “settings” and open the “sounds and notifications” section.

Now click on “melody and sounds”.

Then go to the "ringtone" category.

Now click on the “add ringtone” option.

That's all - all you have to do is indicate the one that you yourself placed in the “music” folder.

How to add a ringtone to any Android

To add a song on a smartphone with any Android, you must create a folder in the media / audio folder and add your ringtone or song there.

You can do this by connecting your phone to your computer (easy way) or via file manager on the phone (long way).

I prefer to use the second method - a file manager, but if your smartphone does not have such an application for managing files, you can download it for free from Google Play, for example, the program “ES File Explorer.

Now this folder will be displayed in the ringtone settings in the phone menu (Settings>Sounds) and you can easily set your favorite song on your phone as a ringtone.

Download the app to create a ringtone. There are many free applications, allowing you to edit an MP3 file and set it as a ringtone. With this application, you can create an audio file that suits you, without using a computer for editing and then transferring it to your phone. You need an MP3 file that you want to turn into a ringtone stored on your device.

  • Ringdroid and Ringtone Maker are two of the most popular apps for this purpose, although they are not the only ones and there are hundreds of other similar apps. Both of the above apps can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. This guide will cover working with Ringtone Maker, but the process is very similar for its counterparts.
  • You can also use these apps to create notification ringtones. The process is similar.

Take the MP3 file from which you want to make a ringtone. The apps we use will allow you to edit an MP3 file and set it as your ringtone. It's a good idea to cut only the parts you want from the song rather than listen to it from the beginning. To edit an MP3 file, you need to place it on your Android device. There are several ways to transfer to your phone:

  • You can download the MP3 file directly to your device if you have the appropriate link.
  • You can transfer MP3 files located on your computer by connecting your Android device to it and copying them to the Music folder. Or use a service like Dropbox for this purpose, which will allow you to upload a file from your computer directly to your device’s memory.
  • MP3s purchased from Google Play or Amazon require downloading to your computer before they can be downloaded to your Android device.
  • Just launch installed program to create a ringtone. You will see a list of ringtones and all audio files that Ringtone Maker will find in standard folders. An MP3 file located in standard folders (Downloads, Notifications, Music) will be displayed in this list. Otherwise, you will have to find the required folder yourself.

Press the Menu button (⋮) and select "View." A window will open for navigating through the folders of your device, in which you need to find the desired MP3 file.

Find the MP3 file you want to set as your ringtone. Navigate through the folders and find the MP3 file you are interested in. You should look for the file you just downloaded from the website in your Downloads folder. When transferring a file from your computer, you need to find it in the folder where you copied it (usually Music or Ringtones).

Click on an MP3 file to open it. The song will appear as a wave and the controls/edits will appear. Don't worry about the original file while editing, as the changes will not affect it.

Set Start and End points. Once the song is loaded into the editor, you will see two moving sliders on the waveform. Click and drag these sliders to where the desired melody starts and ends. On different devices The time interval for repeating the melody when receiving an incoming call differs, but usually it is 30 seconds.

    • Press the "Play" button every time you want to listen to the resulting melody. You can use the track size limiter fine-tuning tool to do this by pressing the "+" and "-" buttons.
    • If you are making not a ringtone, but a notification ringtone, then in this case you need to take into account that it should be much shorter.
  • Add fade in and fade out effects (optional). In Ringtone Maker you can add a melody fade effect, which you will find by pressing the Menu button (⋮). Use the drop-down menu to select fade-in or fade-out duration.

A standard situation when you want to change the ringtone on your Android device. Moreover, listing the reasons why such a desire was suddenly born is completely pointless, because there can be an innumerable number of them.

Well, the glass of vodka on the table from Leps can no longer go down my throat, or I no longer have the strength to listen to how Stas Mikhailov suffers and falls while taking off. In general, we will now talk not about the causes, but about the effect, that is, about how to change the ringtone on Android.

There are several ways to perform this procedure. The Android OS is equipped with its own built-in tools that you can use in this case, or you can resort to the capabilities of numerous applications.

In fact, this task is not at all difficult, and the process itself is similar for almost all versions and models of devices.

    Using system capabilities

First you need to open the main settings of your gadget and go to the “Sound Profiles” section (on some devices “Sound Settings”).

We find the “General” line, click the gear located opposite it, after which we will be taken to the profile settings. After this, the following settings will become available to us: volume, vibration, notification sounds, etc.

To select the melody that we will set for incoming calls, you need to get into the multimedia storage, to do this, “tap” on the “Voice call ringtone” field:

Now, select the ringtone you like and click “OK”.

The ringtone for notifications or video calls will be configured in the same way.

*Note: On Android 5.0 Lollipop model, if the device is set to silent or vibration mode, the option may not be available.

Changing ringtone on Android using the program

Using the method described above, you can select a melody only from the default options. But, for sure, you will want to install a track with your favorite melody, which is simply not in the built-in music library. In this case, you need to download a special application that will cope with the task with a bang.

We recommend, which is significantly superior in functionality to the standard conductor. If you now open “Sound Profiles”, and then click on the line “Ringtone of a voice call”, then on the choice offered by the system, click “ES Explorer”, which does not play, but activates the file that you will see on the display. After required file is selected, it is registered as a ringtone or notification sound in the list of preset ringtones:

    Using a file manager

Another method that adds selected media files to the list of default ringtones. Moreover, here you can use both the installed and standard file manager. What to do:

In the main menu, open the file manager (can be “file manager” or “Explorer”):

    Now you need:

    • Find the desired file (mp3) and copy it.
    • In the smartphone settings, open “Memory”, find the Ringtones folder and paste the copied file into it.

After these steps, the ringtone you have chosen will be available for installation using the first or second method described above.

    *Note:

    • To work correctly, file names should not contain Cyrillic characters.
    • The method may not work on some device models.

How to set your own ringtone for each subscriber

To receive a call from an individual (or each) contact from your list, you need to do the following:

We open the phone book, determine the contact to which we will set the melody, and “tap” on it. In the drop-down list of actions (edit, send, etc.), select “Set ringtone” (maybe “Ringtone” or something else):

    Well, “for a snack” video

Now we’ll quickly look at how to change or set your own SMS melody (sound) on Android.

For this task, you will need to manually place the music or sound file in the desired folder in internal memory smartphone. I'll show you where and what to upload.

How to install custom (your) music on SMS

In order for your sound or song to appear in the SMS melody selection list (see above), you need to place your melody in the desired folder on the phone’s internal memory.

The folder should be called Notifications and lie in the root of the smartphone. Only then will the melody appear in the list. If there is no folder, create it now.

To move the music file, we need a file manager. It comes standard with smartphones and may only differ slightly in appearance. You can use other file managers that are available on Google Play. The principle of copying and transferring files is identical, i.e. The logic is preserved on any phone.

    • Go to the file manager and look for your song/sound/melody. Most likely it will be in the Music folder on the internal or external memory(depending on where you store it).

      Increase

    • Next, hold your finger on the desired song until the selection checkboxes appear and click on the options at the top (3 vertical dots). There we click “Copy”.

      Increase

    • Now we are prompted to select a copy location. Here we indicate our Notifications folder.
