Earnings on Twitch

To make money on Twitch, you must initially promote your channel so that it matches minimum requirements service. To do this, it is necessary to conduct live video broadcasts at least 3 times a week, lasting at least 6 hours. The service also imposes requirements for a minimum number of online viewers (from 500 people per broadcast).

When connecting to an affiliate program, the requirements may be reduced by the decision of the service moderators. Some streamers manage to connect affiliate program Twitch, with only 100 viewers or more. According to the help section that exists on the twitch.tv website, each video channel is considered separately and according to a combination of various criteria. The most important thing is to broadcast regularly and constantly fill your channel with new streams.

If you are developing your channel on twitch.tv and regularly make new streams, and you like to play games, then sooner or later you will be able to enable monetization in any case.

Earnings from game sales

This type of earnings on Twitch was launched in the spring of 2017. All partners can earn 5% from the sales of games and in-game items that are advertised on the channel. It looks like this: a special “Buy Now” button appears under the broadcast. The streamer's earnings will be 5% of each viewer purchase. At the same time, you don’t need to sell anything yourself; the entire payment process and all actions related directly to the product itself are handled by the service.

To connect this method monetization, you need to go to the control panel to the “Partner Settings” tab. Scroll down the page to the “Monetization” section, here you need to check the “Include revenue from game sales”. All you need to do is check the box and save the changes.

Earnings from paid subscriptions

Each streamer can make money by offering paid subscriptions to their channel. The number of subscribers will directly depend on various bonuses and the quality of the content offered. Currently there are 4 types of paid subscriptions on Twitch depending on the cost.

Earnings from advertising

This type of earnings depends entirely on the number of stream views on your channel. The essence of earning money is very simple - during a video broadcast, an advertising video is shown, for which money is awarded. The amount of earnings depends on the number of views of the advertising video. Many viewers may have various ad blockers enabled in their browser, which affects the final amount of earnings. However, successful streamers who gather a huge audience make very good money from watching video ads. Such earnings can reach tens and even hundreds of thousands of rubles.

So, you've decided to become a famous streamer. Do you have powerful computer, desire and skill. But you don’t know. Let’s try to figure out the streaming platform and related programs. For now, first things first.

The beginning of the story

Before we figure out how to start streaming on Twitch, let’s learn about the history of the project’s creation. And it starts almost 10 years ago. In 2007, four young and ambitious boys created their own project. His goal was to show the performance in real time. Justin Kan became a volunteer and began broadcasting his life 24 hours a day. He was with the camera every day and hourly and showed the audience all his life adventures.

The rest decided to deal with the technical component. It was decided to call the project JustinTV, and the work began. Over the entire period, the guys did not receive the expected effect from the new brainchild. Most often, the audience did not take him seriously and often made fun of Justin. One day they called the police, saying that there was a stabbing in the apartment, and once they announced to the rescue service about a fire.

I must say that the project was taken on by smart guys who already had experience in this matter. Justin and Emmett created an app after university, which they later sold for a quarter of a million dollars.

When the guys realized that JustinTV could not continue to work, they decided to listen to people's opinions. Many asked to give users the opportunity to create their own broadcast. Literally a few months later, the developers responded to these wishes, and everyone soon launched their own broadcast on their own.

But then the guys ran into another problem. It also became a difficult situation with servers. Well, the worst case was the suicide of a student live. Then the project met with a lot of reproaches and criticism.

Twitch to replace JustinTV

But the positive thing was that many gamers joined the platform. In fact, it was thanks to them that the project stayed afloat. And then in 2011, Justin decided to simultaneously create a platform for game streaming. Back then, few people knew how to stream on Twitch. Nevertheless, the project developed and lived.

A year later, Twitch became the official Internet channel that broadcast eSports events. Thus, the community of gamers found a home and took root on this platform. Popular games ranked in the top in terms of views: CS: GO, Dota2, LoL, etc. Immediately, on this basis, e-sports organizations began to form their own channels.

In 2014, Twitch was bought for $1 billion. There were many rumors surrounding the event. But the guys themselves claimed that the main thing for them was to maintain the independence of the platform. By the way, users were immediately banned from streaming half naked. Many streamers made money from their appearance.

There are now over 100 million registered users who spend a lot of time on Twitch. According to statistics, 60% of viewers watch channels more than 20 hours a week.

Streaming software

If you don't know how to start streaming on Twitch, then first of all pay attention to software. You probably know that in order to watch the broadcast, you just need to go to the platform’s website, and from your smartphone or tablet, go to the corresponding application.

But if you don't know how to stream on Twitch, then you'll have to get familiar with XSplit. Of course, there is much more software, but these programs are the most popular and, most importantly, are practically free. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. One program requires more resources, while another requires certain system requirements. But most importantly, before you figure out how to stream via Twitch, you need to configure these programs.

Setting up XSplit

How to stream via XSplit? Twitch will start broadcasting if you configure the program correctly. First of all, you need to register on the site. This is easy to do, so there is no point in describing the process. Now we download the program itself and figure it out.

So, first, let's set up a channel. To do this, go to the Channels tab and click Add. Add all the data. Next you need to configure video and audio. The default video codec value is set to X.264, so we leave it that way. The Bitrate/Max bitrate value is responsible for the picture quality. The larger it is, the better the quality, but also keep in mind that the computer will consume a lot of resources.

For audio, setup is much simpler. Here you need to adjust the codec, bitrate and format. If you downloaded the program for free and did not buy an add-on, then there will be few configuration options. Therefore, install possible ones.

When you have prepared the channel, go to the main menu. Everything is ready here to start the broadcast. Preview is a window in which your broadcast is displayed; everything that is visible there will be broadcast to viewers. Next, under the preview, the volume of the microphone and stereo mixer is shown. This way you can check the sound on the stream. Below in the window you create a broadcast, select a game, you can also add titles and additional elements there.

What is OBS?

If you don't know how to stream to Twitch TV via OBS, this section is for you. This program is free and simple. The difference between OBS and Xsplit is that the first software allows you to capture any event happening on your screen. You just need to create the desired “scene” and add a program, game, etc. There, but it’s more complicated: if you take into account the fact that XSplit is configured automatically, then you will have to suffer with OBS.

Setting up a channel in OBS

So, we signed up for Twitch. Let's figure out how to stream (OBS) further. The program has several modes that allow you to record video live or on your PC. In the “Broadcast Service” you need to select the platform on which you are going to stream, in our case - “Twitch”.

To install the server, you need to check the data transfer speed. But if you fast internet, then it is best to install Amsterdam / Frankfurt. Next you need to take the streaming key. We find him on his own Twitch account. There, in the Broadcast tab, select “Show key”.

Next, you need to check the box next to “Auto reconnect” to resume the broadcast. We set the time indicator to five seconds. Broadcast delay may or may not be used. If you don’t need someone to stream sniper, you can set it to half a minute.

Setting up video in OBS

If you don't know how to stream on Twitch, follow these guidelines. Although, as practice shows, something will still have to be changed. So:

  • “Constant bitrate” - check the box next to “Twitch”.
  • Check the box next to “CBR padding”.
  • The higher the quality, the higher the bitrate. The maximum value is 10, which means try to set the average value, and if something happens, you can adjust it.
  • “Maximum bitrate” is a thing that will also have to be changed. Setting this value depends on your starting speed. If you have a fast Internet connection, then set the indicator to 2500 Kbps.
  • “Buffer size” corresponds to the size of “Maximum bitrate”.

Setting up audio in OBS

So, we have not yet fully answered the question of how to stream on Twitch TV. All that's left is to spend some time setting up the audio. There are three sections in the settings: for the codec, select AAC; the average value for bitrate is 112. The 44.1khz stereo format will be quite sufficient.

Next, many other settings will become available, but these will be enough to start the broadcast. Setting up a scene is practically no different from setting up a broadcast in XSplit. You need to add a scene, and in the sources enter the address of the game being broadcast. Webcam capture, titles and other elements are also added here. So we solved the question of how to stream on Twitch TV.

Streaming video games today is a popular activity among young people who “live” online. The Twitch streaming service allows you to watch in real time how other people play video games on a computer or console, while simultaneously commenting on the process. Streams can take place both with voice and video images.

At first there were video blogs of gamers, which posted reviews and let's play of popular video games. It turned out that many people expressed a desire to see how others play: blogs collected thousands of views, gamers were actively subscribed to. Playing live has become a new stage in the development of such blogs. And it was Twitch that became the service that gathered many streamers and their fans on its pages.

Convenience of Twitch for viewers

Twitch- an interactive social portal that brings together gamers around the world.
Its popularity among users is due to several factors:

  • The simplest interface.
  • The ability to chat while watching a stream with other viewers.
  • The ability to also chat with the streamer himself.
  • Lots of ongoing streams of different games in real time.

The owners of the portal regularly open new servers so that users can watch streaming videos without brakes or lags. Using the service's capabilities is very simple - just create an account on Twitch, select the game you are interested in and join the stream.

Parallel chatting makes it possible to unite many video game fans, find new friends, and learn a lot of new things from the world of video games.

Multiplatform

The service is available not only from personal computer, but also from PS4 and Xbox consoles. Gamers who are used to playing on consoles will not have to limit themselves.

Moreover, an Android application and an Apple iOS application have been developed. You can stream not only computer and console games, but also mobile ones.

Online eSports

Esports events are regularly hosted on Twitch. Matches in DoTa 2, CS:GO, sports games such as FIFA - you can follow all this and also take part (depending on the rules of the event).

eSports events for a long time were held without the athletes being able to be at their computers, field trips were taken, and broadcasts were conducted. Now many tournaments are moving to TwitchTV, allowing them to gather a larger audience and more participants.

Anyone can become a streamer

And for this you don’t have to buy a paid account, you just need to register on Twitch. Organization of streaming video is carried out by third parties free programs, accessible to any user. You can connect a webcam and microphone and start gathering your audience without any problems.

Earnings are also available for streamers on Twitch, but in order for the normal amount to flow in, you will first need to promote yourself and attract the attention of users. You can also buy a paid account (turbo access), it provides additional pleasant features. For example, additional emoticons and removal of advertising from the site.

The video can also be saved. If viewers were unable to watch the broadcast, they can later view the saved video on the channel of their favorite user.

Twitch gathers millions of users on its pages, making it possible to immediately communicate and take part in e-sports events. The service is actively developing and attracting an increasing number of gamers from all over the world. Many people try to stream, few people don’t watch streams today. The popularity of the service is growing every day, similar ones also appear every now and then, but it is very problematic to outdo Twitch; even the monster YouTube, which made it possible to conduct game broadcasts, is not capable of this.

Still have questions? Ask in the comments.

Hello everyone, Nikita Mashkov is online, today I will introduce you detailed instructions on how to create a channel on Twitch.

We will figure out why Twitch is needed at all, what benefits you can get from it, and how to create your own channel. Also at the end of the article, you can ask your questions.

Twitch.tv- a platform designed specifically for broadcasting video games. Here everyone can either watch other players play or start their own video broadcast.

Also, due to its popularity, Twitch TV is used to broadcast most eSports events, which makes it a kind of “Gamer Center” that can be compared to a television channel.

The daily audience of the site, at the time of writing, is 20 million visitors.

So what do we get from this?

As I said above: you can also start your broadcast (stream) here.

Moreover, you can do this not only so that someone will just look at you and comment on you, but also in order to make money from this business.

In his last article, Sergei already wrote about. But he and I decided that this material was too superficial and that blog readers would probably want to know more.

Therefore, starting with this article, I will try to talk in detail about the process that a new streamer who wants to make money in this business needs to go through.

Mini course: “From registration to the first Donation in 24 hours.”

Our free mini course will be called: “From registration to the first Donation in 24 hours.”

And before we begin, I want to briefly tell you about myself and my experience so that you know and understand who is going to teach you something here.

I am not a TOP streamer; I have never received large donations. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect any secrets or tricks from me on how to promote users for generous donations.

At the same time, I have already helped set up and design dozens of channels and every client was satisfied. My experience and my activities are related exclusively to technical settings and design. I'm the master here.

As an example, you can look at my works: [example_1], [example_2], [example_3].

Minimum Requirements

Unfortunately, in order to engage in such an exciting activity as making money on Twitch, you must meet minimum requirements. And now we are not talking about your level of knowledge or the sparkle of your smile; face control lets everyone in.

We are talking about the minimum system requirements your computer. The minimum that I personally would recommend is:

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Headphones - so that the sound from the speakers does not interfere with hearing you
  • Microphone - if you plan not only to demonstrate your skills, but also to comment
  • Webcam - many viewers are interested in watching not only what is happening in the game, but also your facial expression

In general, the parameters of the video card and RAM are a bit exaggerated, since, personally, I prefer to stream new products that are quite demanding on gaming hardware.

But, if you manage to captivate the viewer with a card game, then a weak PC will do.

In general, you must understand: without high-quality hardware, the broadcast will not be of high quality or it will be impossible to start it at all.

This is very bad for viewers; they simply won’t be interested in watching your stream.

Agree, no one is interested in listening to stuttering and looking at an always slow picture.

Twitch - registration

We’ll start with the simplest thing, namely registering on Twitch.

I say right away: I will describe the registration process in as much detail as possible, so that there will be fewer questions later.

So, to register on Twitch you need to go to the official website www.twitch.tv.

Here we will see the “Subscribe” button in the right corner, click on it. Now you must come up with your username and password:

If you see that after you have entered your name and password, you suddenly see a red exclamation mark, then such a nickname already exists. Come up with another one.

It is also important to know: Whatever nickname you specify during registration will remain that way, keep in mind that it will not be possible to change it later in the settings. And if you still really want to do this, then you will have to create a new channel on Twitch.

Enter address email, which should receive an email after registration confirming the account you have created.

At the end, don’t forget to enter or confirm the captcha so that the checkmark appears and click on the “Subscribe” button.
