Hello, dear Trashbox users, this topic is dedicated to the firmware Nokia smartphones on Symbian 9.4.

Attention, you perform all actions at your own peril and risk, I am not responsible for your mistakes when flashing. Detailed, step by step instructions is under the cut.

Well, let's begin.

1 Step.

  1. Download the firmware you like for your phone.
  2. After downloading the firmware, put it on path C :\ProgramFiles\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-625
  3. If you downloaded the firmware and it comes with an installer, then check that it is installed according to the above path, or set it yourself.
  4. Since I am the owner Nokia 5228 then I consider it accordingly this method for this device.
  5. Look 1-point, if your phone is a different model (for example 5800, 5230, X6) then the path will be different, only the last folder will change (for example for the 5800 model it will be C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-365
  6. If you don't know the RM code of your phone, then this is for you:
  • NOKIA 5228 - RM-625
  • NOKIA 5800 - RM-365
  • NOKIA 5230 - RM-588
  • NOKIA X6 - RM-559
  • NOKIA C6-00 - RM-612
  • NOKIA N97 - RM-505
  • NOKIA N97 mini - RM-555
  • NOKIA 5250 - RM-684
  • NOKIA C5-03 - RM-697

ATTENTION: I wouldn't get it "dead body" in place of the phone do not downgrade the firmware version!
1) Type in your phone: *#0000# and in the field Version, look at the firmware version.
2) Then look at the firmware version that you want to install (usually it is indicated)
3) Compare versions. If the version of the desired firmware matches the firmware of your phone or higher, then you can safely reflash it. If not, then under no circumstances should you flash this firmware.

Step 2

  1. Install J.A.F., for this we launch J.A.F Installer.exe from folder JAF Installer. Install without changing the path.
  2. If you do not have firewood installed on the NOKIA USB connection, then follow the path: C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF and run the driver installer Nokia Flashing Cable Driver_8.6.0.2.msi(firewood is required)
  3. We add keys to the registry for the program to work correctly: ODEON.reg and flash.reg(double-click on them and agree to make changes to the registry), they are located in the folder Registry keys.
  4. File jaf_nok4models.ini copy and place it along the path: C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF(asks for a replacement, we agree), it is in the folder INI file of phone models.
  5. Before flashing the firmware you should do a hard reset (*#7370#) . Default password is 12345
  6. You must delete all system folders from the card ( patches, installs, private, resource, sys, system) or just format it.
  7. It is imperative to close Nokia programs (PC Suite, Ovi Suite).
  8. We disconnect the phone and connect it via a USB cable, but do not turn it on. (We insert the USB into the motherboard, the one on the back, otherwise it will give an error)

3 Step.

  1. The following actions are carried out by OS owners Windows Vista and Se7en:
  2. Let's go along the way C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF right click on the file JAF Emulator.exe, select the item Properties, go to the tab Compatibility and select compatibility with Windows XP SP3

4 Step.

5 Step.

Addition: I have a very low Internet speed, so I can’t upload J.A.F. here, but I’ll give you the link: narod.ru/disk/35567208001/JAF.rar.html

A little about Symbian

The Symbian operating system supports a wide variety of so-called requirements network protocols and is widespread in many countries of the world. Today, Symbian's main competitors are considered mobile versions Linux operating systems and Palm OS. Recently, its competition has intensified and the system Windows Mobile, winning more and more fans.

Can I install Symbian myself?

Symbian is one of those operating systems mobile systems, which are sewn into the microcircuit directly by the manufacturer at the stage of manufacturing the or itself. Therefore, it is literally impossible to install Symbian on your own: to do this, you need to reflash the phone. But restoring Symbian in the event of damage by a virus or unexpected software failure is quite possible. The owner of the phone can “reset” its operating system at any time by returning it standard settings, laid down at the manufacturing plant. To do this, you need to turn off the phone (smartphone), and when turning it on, press and hold three buttons: accepting a call (“green handset”), the key with the number 3 and the asterisk symbol. Immediately after turning on the phone, Symbian will return to factory settings.

Is flashing necessary to install Symbian correctly?

If you still firmly intend to replace one version of Symbian with another or re-install Symbian correctly on your smartphone, we advise you to think carefully before doing so. Any change to the firmware is considered illegal and is strictly prohibited by the manufacturer. In this case, he ceases to bear the warranty for the device he sold and does not provide further services. The owner bears all responsibility for the subsequent operation of the phone and its possible breakdown. Also, under no circumstances should you install a version of Symbian that has not previously been installed on a specific phone. For example, Symbian 9.1 cannot be replaced by Symbian 9.4.

I have long wanted to write an article on the topic of switching from Symbian to Android, of which there were a great many at one time. It is for this reason that I did not take it up. But in May 2013, our beloved website launched an article competition on the topic of who and how uses their smartphone in everyday life. This seemed to me more interesting as a topic for writing an article and I also decided to join the ranks of those participating.

This is where more than one generation of smart drivers has grown up. It is on this site that adequate, useful and high-quality information is posted. Of all the large similar resources on the RuNet, I consider it the best!

I’ll make a short introduction just on the topic of transition from one axis to another.

In December 2012, the cruel and merciless force of chance dragged me into the store and forced me to buy a brand new smartphone running the now ubiquitous Android. That same evening, the search and digestion of information on obtaining root and firmware for the device began. For two weeks I experimented as best I could. I was looking for good firmware, kernel, software. Everything was new, incomprehensible and radically different from Symbian. After finishing all the abuse of the device, I received a device that replaced my desktop PC to an even greater extent than Nokia with its Symbian. Although, of course, I had to get used to the sensor (and not to the hardware buttons), to multitasking that works differently, and to the fact that with active use you have to charge the smartphone 2-3 times a day. But today for me this is already a thing of the past, I am completely accustomed to Android, all its quirks and am absolutely happy with it.

The introduction is over, let's move on to the main topic.

The method works, I stitched it myself, if you did something wrong, it's only your fault.
For starters, download necessary software .Firmware need to pick up Very carefully, otherwise you will make a “corpse” of the phone, which is not so easy to restore. We will flash using the example of "Lite Modification 7.1" for the Nokia 5228 phone. Jaf is suitable for any Nokia phones. If you have a different phone, write it in the comments, I will select the firmware for you.
Before stitching, find out the firmware version and RM code, you can easily find it by dialing *#0000#, there you will find the version and code, by default for 5228 - RM-625, version 51.1.002. Never downgrade the firmware version, otherwise you will simply “kill” the phone . If RM is different, then let the settings be different, just the code will change.
After everyone found out, prepare a memory card, delete the folders (patches, installs, private, resource, sys, system), you can also format it. When flashing the firmware, it is advisable that the memory card be in the phone. This is not necessary, but it is advisable to do it full reset all settings, how to do this, look in this video. Disable Nokia programs (Nokia Suite). That's it, now we install the firmware program.
1. We go to the "JAF installer" folder, launch the application, it is important that the folder path should be located where it is installed operating system, in my case like this: "C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF"
2. Go to the "Registry Keys" folder and add two files to the registry.

3. In the folder "INI file of phone models", move the file "jaf_nok4models" to the folder where you installed Jaf, in my case like this: C:\Program Files\ODEON\JAF, when moving, we agree to the replacement. In this file you can find your phone number and RM code.

4.Install drivers"Flashing Cable Driver". It should be on your desktop.

5.Install the firmware on the PC, the path should be in the disk where the OS is installed, for Windows owners, the path should be “C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-625”, I have not tested it on other OSes.

6. On the Start Jaf shortcut, right-click and select "Fix compatibility problems", after detecting problems, select "Use recommended settings".

RMB on the Jaf shortcut, go to properties and the "Compatibility" section, check the box to run the program in this compatibility mode, and select Windows XP (SP 3).

That's it, you can start the program. Disconnect the phone and connect USB cable, To motherboard, which is behind.

Now launch Jaf, select Random mode PKEY Thomas SN And press START.

After Jaf Reedit opens, from DCT4 tabs go to BB5. The four lights should be dark green, check the boxes as in the screenshot.

Click FLASH And choose your phone, I have Nokia 5228 and code RM-625, names do not always correspond to code.
If everything was done correctly, the paws should light up bright green.
Click on FLASH again, a warning will pop up saying that if you downgrade the firmware version, you will kill the phone, click yes and the firmware will be updated.

After clicking yes, turn on the phone until the white screen lights up.
We look at the firmware status, if the phone is not found, close the program and repeat the procedure again.
Now all that remains is to wait until the firmware is downloaded to the phone, if everything goes well, should be written in the end Done!

After that telephone will switch to Local Mode, it is important to wait until it reboots, we don’t do anything in this mode, we wait a maximum of 20 minutes and after that it will turn on.

Leave your questions, we will also select the firmware for your version and code.

Good day, would you like to have Symbian Anna?
Yes, in fact, it already exists and you can already download it, but this particular firmware will be a little better, because you know about the need for certificates, at least you should know what a certificate is, I think so, although I won’t be lazy describe. There are times when you can’t launch a game or a program, anything can happen, but when it says “Error in the certificate,” this application clearly seems to be screaming why you need a certificate, no, of course, you can get a certificate, but it will be there now not complete. This firmware has already been hacked, which means that the new update, plus everything else, is already hacked, and therefore does not require certificates.

This firmware is not official, but it is fully working, which means you only need to install it on your Nokia and use it.
It can only be used on the following phones: , C6-01, E7, (X7 and E6 already have this firmware installed right away, but if you want, then everything depends only on you, our site is not responsible for this), but this particular firmware was made for Nokia N8.

At the request of Ilya Kurgashov, who has already tried the firmware on his Nokia N8, and just wrote a few words about the pros and cons of the firmware, and also described how to install the firmware on the phone. He also helped inform the writing of this article.
Cons: I personally didn’t notice, maybe some people won’t like the interface, but there’s nothing you can do about it!
Pros: Performance has not increased directly to heavenly heights, but noticeably, and the lifetime has also increased by about 20%;

Installing Symbian Anna:
Before installation, it is better to delete everything from the phone, or even better to do backup copy all files, after which be sure to do a hard reset (*#7330#).

Download these files:
Phoenix, to install firmware on a smartphone
Symbian Anna firmware for Nokia N8

After installing the phoenix, then the firmware itself. Next you need to restart the computer.
There are two options for installing the program:
If you have 64 bit Windows version, you need to read point 1, if not, go straight to point 2.
Point 1.
You can find the installed Phoenix in Program files (x86), and the firmware itself in regular Program files. Go to the C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products directory and copy the “RM-596” folder and move it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Phoenix\Products.

Point 2.
What happens next is that you installed Phoenix and the firmware (moved to the folder according to step 1), delete OVI Suite and everything related to Nokia, for example Map loader, and so on. If you watch everything installed programs via CCleaner, then Nokia should only have Nokia connectivity and Fleshing cable driver, if they are not there, then you don’t need to worry too much, just reboot (applies to everyone). Then connect your phone to your computer in Suite mode. After this, wait until the computer detects some drivers, and in theory a white N8 should appear in the taskbar (at the bottom), if it appears, then everything is fine.
Now you have to go into the phoenix itself, according to Ilya, he had the antivirus turned on, and it didn’t trigger any warnings, but it’s still better to turn it off. Well, after turning on the phoenix, click File and then select the Scan product item, an inscription with the name and designation of the firmware should appear at the bottom right, for example RM-569 (maybe something else, depending on the device.), then click Fleshing -> Frimware update , in theory there is nothing there. Click on the three dots and select China_prs_dark_grey there. Then click Options and delete the two lines that are written in red (highlight - del. (on the keyboard)). Then agree by clicking OK, then click Referbish.

After all these steps, the installation of the firmware should begin, as Ilya stated, there were no errors during the installation, and everything went very smoothly.
Let me remind you that Ilya Kurgashov helped write this article, who wrote the installation instructions himself from personal experience, and also described his opinion about it.
