Hello everyone, today I’ll tell you how I reset bios password, if such a need arises. I'll tell you how physical methods and software, they all have their advantages. Who could find themselves in such a situation, in theory, anyone, since recently vendors producing equipment are increasingly taking advantage of this opportunity, so that, in addition to new equipment, when you buy used one. computer or laptop, you may also be lucky enough to get acquainted with this situation, maybe you will even buy a bios code decoder program.

There are times when people try to achieve maximum security or, on the contrary, do a dirty trick by setting a password to enter the BIOS. Let me remind you that BIOS is a microprogram that helps your hardware interact with each other, if only superficially. Having access to the BIOS, you essentially get access to the brains of your laptop or computer; it is there that hardware settings are made or boot priorities are set for installing the system from a flash drive or booting from a PXE server. Naturally, if this is an organization’s computer, then the security service may require that system administrator I set a password there, for those who are especially curious, or the situation may be that hardware manufacturers can block access there, and you need to reflash the bios, situations can be different. The main thing is that the task is to produce and you, as an engineer, must be able to do this.

BIOS reset methods

There are two ways to reset the CMOS memory. Let me remind you that CMOS memory (Complimentary Matal-Oxide-Semiconductor) is needed by the BIOS to store data in it, which requires constant recharge from a battery installed on the motherboard:

  • this is a physical effect on iron
  • using utilities

And so, when you try to enter the BIOS, you see these pictures

Software reset bios password

A free utility will help me command line called cmospwd-5.0. You can download cmospwd-5.0 from the link.

Choose windows folder in it, hold down the Shift button and right-click on it, then select the menu item Open command window

Let's see the syntax of the utility using the /?

cmospwd_win.exe /?

Now let's reset the CMOS bios

cmospwd_win.exe /k

Let's enter the number 1.

This utility can also be downloaded from under DOS, you can place it in an ISO with DOS, how to do this, read the link on the left.

Using the debug.exe utility

There is a utility called debug.exe in Windows XP and it is located in \WINDOWS\system32\debug.exe. You can also use it, but only in the DOS version; how to launch it from there, read the link above about ISO DOS. Download debug windows 7 from the link, it weighs only 20 kb.

We launch debug.exe and enter our codes for each BIOS version.

  • q – quit
  • the first number in each line is the port
  • the second is the number of bytes (in hexadecimal)
  • In the command prompt window, enter exit (or just close the window);

Physical password reset

How to reset a bios password if you were unable to reset the password using the above utilities, then try the following methods

  • Remove the battery from the motherboard and wait a couple of minutes. Once pulled out, be sure to remove the power cord from your system unit or the battery on a laptop, then press the power button, the fans will spin a little and the residual energy will go away.

On laptops you can also try to close the contacts where the battery is, just be sure to remove the battery before doing this

  • On most motherboards you can find a reset button CMOS It is most often located next to the battery. To clear memory CMOS you need to close these connectors, then turn on the PC and reset the BIOS settings.

or something like this CMOS.

how to reset bios password with master codes

I already described the principle in the article How to reset the BIOS password on ASUS. This method suitable for aser or e-machine laptops, and others. What we do is turn on your laptop and try to enter the BIOS. We see the password being entered.

We enter the wrong password several times, any password will be wrong, the chance of guessing is negligible.

A menu appears in which you select Enter Unlock Password.

Here you are required to enter a certain master code, below I will teach you how to receive it. We write down the code 54697781, it will help us crack the bios password

Now we need to use decryptors, I will show you two online.

http://service.wna.ru/rus/useful/udalenie_parolya_na_noutbuke.html

Below in the field Enter the code here we paste the copy copied above 54697781, you will have your own code.

We see everything, we have received two master passwords, the lower one will suit us, and we can now hack the bios password

Today we will look at:

In the previous article we raised the issue of different versions and described this process for several BIOS versions. Today we will continue this topic and take a look at a situation where a previously established protective combination was lost or forgotten.

In this topic we will talk about the so-called BIOS Master Password services and tell you what it is and how to use it.

BIOS Master Password: what is it?

The BIOS master password generator is a special service that allows you to remove the BIOS lock. Such lockouts occur when the user enters three incorrect passwords in a row, after which the system displays the “System Disable” message.

How to use the BIOS Password Wizard?

Similar services for selecting master passwords have the same operating principle. The first thing you need to remember or write down somewhere is the code that is displayed when the “System Disable” message appears.

The service will select for your laptop model or motherboard a service password that will always be valid for this device.

There are a lot of services, both English and Russian, for selecting BIOS passwords. They are all “single-button”, so we see no point in disassembling them separately. To get acquainted, we recommend taking a look at the service bios-pw.org, which will clearly show how to work with such BIOS master password generators.

First and most important. The service center "WnA|Service" is not responsible for the legitimacy of the acquisition of equipment by the user of the master password generator.

Second and no less important. This service is intended EXCLUSIVELY for personal use and to prevent your own forgetfulness. Any commercial use (read: making a profit) is not allowed in all forms.

Third, at your discretion. If you find the results of the password generator useful, you can post a link to home page service center in the anchor "laptop repair" (something like this).

Passwords on Acer, HP, Compaq, Fujitsu-Siemens and other similar laptops

After three incorrect attempts to enter the password, the message “System disabled” is displayed, where “12345” are arbitrary numbers. Generated by brute-force method (i.e. different for each request), you may need to generate several times.

Passwords on HP, Compaq laptops (new + mini)

After three incorrect entry attempts, codes of the form: "ABC1234DEF" are issued - ten letters/numbers.

Passwords on laptops using BIOS Insyde H20 (HP, FSI, SONY, NEC)

After three incorrect entry attempts, codes of the form: “12345678” are issued - eight digits.

Passwords on Fujitsu-Siemens laptops

After three entry attempts, codes of the form are issued: "ABCDABCD" - eight letters, "AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDD-EEEE" - five groups of four letters, "1234-1234-1234-1234-1234" - five groups of four digits .

If after three attempts the code does not work, you can try using the following algorithm. In the first attempt we enter (without quotes in all three attempts) “3hqgo3”, in the second - “jqw534”, in the third - “0qww294e”. A code of the form five groups of four digits must be generated.

Passwords on DELL laptops

The following suffixes are supported: -595B, -D35B, -A95B, -2A7B. BIOS passwords look like "1a2b3c4-595B" - seven letters/numbers with a suffix at the end. If there are fewer than seven letters/numbers, they are followed by asterisk symbols up to seven characters to the right, i.e. service tag "1a2b-595B" should be of the form "1a2b***-595B". Passwords for hard drive like "1a2b3c4d5e6-595B" - eleven letters/numbers with a suffix at the end. If there are fewer than eleven letters/numbers, they are followed by asterisks up to eleven characters from the left.

Passwords on Samsung laptops

After three entry attempts, codes of the form are issued: “1a2b3c4d5e6f7890” - sixteen letters/digits.

Passwords on SONY laptops

Only for laptops with BIOS Insyde H20 (SZ-series, possibly others). After three incorrect entry attempts, codes of the form: “12345678” are issued - eight digits.

Hints & Tips

Asus

In the case of Asus laptops it’s the date code you require – enter an incorrect password then press Alt +R at the next prompt. Take that date & enter it in the BIOS Master Password Generator below in the same order (yyyy-dd-mm, mm-dd-yyyy or dd-mm-yyyy) as displayed on your Asus laptop.

Dell

Press & hold the left Ctrl key when entering the password in Dell laptops, then hit Enter twice. Some Dell service tags are missing a suffix – first try the password generated, then try the passwords for all suffices by adding either -595B, -2A7B, -D35B, -1F66, -6FF1 or -BF97 to your service tag.

Many -6FF1 machines are cracking with our new -BF97 codes. Simply exchange the suffix on data entry then generate your code. (Don’t forget, left Ctrl then Enter + Enter)

Downgrading the BIOS can change your suffix, resulting in a successful password generation. If your BIOS is set to allow downgrades, this method will help.

Fujitsu Siemens

For the later 6×4 password implementation, download & install Python 2.7 (available for all platforms), then grab the script & save it in your Python directory. Double-click on the script, follow the simple instructions, all done.
(Edit: I’ve now added the 6×4 script to the BIOS Master Password Generator)

Sony

Sony 4 x 4 Challenge Codes are a one-time password, generated fresh each boot. Don't turn the laptop off after obtaining the Challenge Code as the Master Password is specific to that code. Restarting before the password is entered will require a new Master Password.

Partial List of Vulnerable BIOS

Compaq
Dell BIOS code ending with -595B, -D35B, -2A7B, -1D3B, -1F66,-6FF1 & now -BF97, also generates master password for Dell BIOS with no suffix.
Fujitsu-Siemens 5 decimal digits, 8 hexadecimal digits, 5×4 hexadecimal digits, 5×4 & 6×4 decimal digits
Hewlett-Packard 5 decimal digits, 10 characters
Insyde H20 8 decimal digits (Acer, HP)
Phoenix 5 decimal digits
Sony 7 digit serial number, 4 x 4 one-time
Samsung 12 hexadecimal digits
Asus Date code (Enter format as displayed on your laptop)

Anyway, whichever BIOS-locked laptop you have, grab the Machine ID Code – sometimes called the Service Tag, Challenge Code or Response Code – usually displayed after submitting a few (3-5) incorrect codes – that’s the unique identifier we need. Pay special attention when reading the code, be careful not to confuse I & l or O & 0, B & 8, S & 5.

Now enter that code in the box below, hit the Crack It button…. Ka-ching!! No surveys to fill out, no pop-under pR0n adverts, just pure goodness & quite likely your Laptop BIOS Master Password too.

When you’ve done your Laptop BIOS Master Password Reset, please ,

“, in which he promised to write about how to set a password in BIOS. So I’m keeping my promise, now I’ll write and show you how to install, remove, or reset the password in the BIOS.

But first, let's figure out how effective a password is in the BIOS system and how it helps protect your computer. Personally, I think that the password set in the BIOS does a better job of protecting your computer. Just a password set in operating system, you can hack it programmatically, but the password in the BIOS, as far as I know, cannot.

After pressing “Enter”, a window will appear in which you need to enter a password. I can enter a password of 6 characters. We invent and remember good password, enter it and press “Enter”.

Another similar window will appear in which you need to enter a password confirmation. Enter the password again and press “Enter”.

That's it, the password is set, but after this setting, the password appeared only when I tried to enter the BIOS, and the computer turned on as usual without a password. In order for the password to appear when you start the computer, you need to make one more setting.

Therefore, we immediately select the tab and confirm the choice by pressing “Enter”.

Next we look for the item “Password Check”. Opposite it, I had the “Setup” parameter set, which meant asking for a password only when entering the BIOS. You need to change it to the value “Always”. We do this, press “Enter” and select “Always”. Now the password will be requested both when entering the BIOS and when starting the computer.

Now the most important thing is, don't forget to save your changes. Press the F10 key and “Enter”. The computer will reboot, and as soon as it starts up, a window will appear asking for a password. Enter our password and press “Enter” (sorry for the photo quality).

That's all, the BIOS password has been set, and your computer is now protected. Let's move on.

How to remove password in BIOS?

We have set a password, now we will shoot :). This is not yet hacking (resetting) a password, it is deleting it. Perhaps you didn’t like it, or you no longer need it.

We do everything the same way, go to the BIOS, select “BIOS Setting Password”. A window will appear asking you to enter a new password, do not enter anything, but immediately press “Enter”.

A window will appear with the inscription “Password uninstalled” (password removed), press “Enter” again. Save the result by pressing F10 and “Enter” again. That's it, the password has been deleted.

How to reset BIOS password?

First we set the password, then we deleted it, and now I’ll tell you how you can reset the password in the BIOS, that is, hack it. But this is not advice on hacking other people's computers, this is so that you can reset the password if you suddenly forget it.

As I already wrote at the beginning of the article, reset your password to regular computer Easier than on a laptop. Just in order to reset the password that is set in the BIOS system, we need to reset the BIOS itself. Read more about how to do this in the article. There you need to either close special contacts or remove the battery for a while. After which, the BIOS parameters will be reset, and the password will disappear with them. It's the same in laptops, it's just more difficult to disassemble.

Well, it seems like I wrote everything, try it, just be careful and don’t press anything unnecessary, otherwise you’ll get into trouble. Good luck!
