The password for any account is very important, confidential information that ensures the security of personal data. Of course, most of the resources support the ability to change the password in order to provide the highest level of protection, depending on the wishes of the account owner. Origin also allows you not only to create, but also to change such keys for your profile. And it is important to understand how to do this.

Origin is a digital store for computer games and entertainment. Of course, this requires investing money in the service. Therefore, the user’s account is his personal matter, to which all purchase data is attached, and it is important to be able to protect such information from unauthorized access, because this can lead to both the loss of investment results and the funds themselves.

Periodically manually changing your password can significantly increase your account security. The same applies to changing the email link, editing the security question, and so on.

You can find out how to create a password in Origin in the article on registering for this service.

change Password

In order to change your Origin account password, you will need Internet access and an answer to your security question.

The data will be applied, after which the new password can be freely used to authorize the service.

Password recovery

If your account password has been lost or is not accepted by the system for some reason, it can be restored.

After saving the result, you can use the password again.

Conclusion

Changing the password allows you to increase the security of your account, but this approach can lead to the user forgetting the code. In this case, recovery will help, because this procedure usually does not cause any particular difficulties.

Hello, %username%,
I think some of you have heard about the application store (and let’s face it, the game store) Origin (very similar to Steam). I never considered myself a narrow-minded user; I never lost my accounts for anything. And I have experience in administering both AD windows and *nix based servers. A few weeks ago, while the airsoft season was ending, I decided to play the Battlefield 3 virtual toy, officially available through Steam competitor Origin. You register an account and make a purchase of the game, pay with a bank card, everything is as always. On your computer you install Origin Client - software into which you log in, download and then launch games from there. An analogue of the famous Steam store. But who knew that accounts there change owners like gloves, and this is not good for a serious online store. Anyone interested in the procedure for returning access control and the errors (or tricks) of the store that helped with this - please see cat.

Today, while playing (about 3 weeks have passed since the purchase), I decided with my brother to switch to another server, we are making a disconnect. At the same time, a browser window is open under the Battlefield3 account - for some reason I look in it and don’t see my friend - my brother - in the friend list. After Client Origin gives information that it is already running somewhere and goes offline. I was saddened, I think my laptop was turned on in another apartment, and the client there loaded with autoplay, but no, it was not confirmed. I'm trying to log in, but it says that no such e-mail address is registered in the system.(attention – this is used for logging in). I sin on everything and reboot the computer, the situation has not changed. I go to the post office and find a letter stating that the e-mail has been changed. and a notification came about this to the old mail ( Please note: when changing your e-mail, you are not even asked for a confirmation code). There were no logins from the left addresses in the mail account logs, that means no one used my mail. In general, I understand that the account has been hijacked, but roughly speaking, 2,100 rubles have been paid for the content that I rely on and that belongs to me (thank God I didn’t check the box in the account to remember the payment details, otherwise someone would have been able to take advantage of it). And the saddest thing is that I know that I definitely didn’t enter data from this account anywhere, let alone pick up a keylogger or a virus - it seems that I’ve always been careful on the Internet since childhood, and there are protection measures, in general, experience does not allow it.

So, a hasty Google search - I came across a forum with a description of a solution to the situation, apparently this is a common occurrence =) It boils down to the fact that you register a new account on the site, go to English technical support and use the LIVE CHAT function with support. To my chagrin, the button is not active, it is indicated that there is no one now =) It is clear - at that time it was still non-working hours in North America.

We begin to think and slowly come to our senses. It was - ID account login, soap [email protected], password. I had nothing left to go inside with.

Just in case I use the standard password recovery procedure in Origin Client - it asks for either soap or OriginID (a certain identifier, your login and nickname). I enter the one that I typed in, voila, it says that I sent a message to the soap, again sadness, but I climb into my mailbox. Hallelujah. I see an email with a referral link for a new password. I click on the link and am taken to the Origin website with a step prompting me to enter a new password. I enter it - everything is ok, it has changed.

Then it turns out that after changing the password I am NOT kicked out of my account from the Origin website(authorization via the link works), I stay on it. I see the current OriginID and know the password for it, I log in to Battlelog BF3 and the origin Client at the same time. The birthday and account names have been changed everywhere, I change them to new ones, different from the old ones, wherever possible. And so, there is progress, but the most important thing is that I don’t see where it is possible to change the e-mail. After googling a little, I find out about a certain ea.com/ru/profile or help.ea.com, there is only one resource. I go there - it’s sad, they only let me in with an e-mail address. This is very, very bad. It turns out that you already have an Origin ID and password, but no e-mail.

After studying the page for half a minute, I notice buttons for logging in using foreign social networks, I remember that my account was immediately linked to my Facebook account, I click on the link with the hope of logging in using Facebook and... oh yeah(God save the queen Facebook!), I go inside and see the name and email of this scoundrel. To celebrate, I didn’t write them down, which is a pity. In general, I change all the data to my own, link the mail hanging on my domain, check the new soap address and calm down. Danke!

At the moment, the account has been completely restored, everything that was wrong has been returned, except for the friend list, in which there is no one left. As a result of the fact that measures were taken quickly, the attacker did not have time to get to everything. Namely, to “unlink” the account on Facebook, which I’m actually very happy about. The only negative is that the account is not working right now, either EA’s database synchronization between servers is lame or something else, in general it won’t let me play on more than one server. A Google search says that this is a common phenomenon, people either wait or write to support. I first used the second option, then started on the first. A case describing the situation has now been opened and a solution is awaited.

Restoring access took about an hour, I didn’t really time it, perhaps if I had done this later it would have been much more difficult. And yet, some Origin / EA pages in Opera 12 did not open, flash did not load.

There is a solution on the forums on how to make it possible - just return the old OriginID, e-mail, password, but what's the point if the attacker already knows them?? I don't understand this either. In general, after that I found a bunch of forums for selling accounts with a set of different games, and also described the procedures for finally linking the account to the buyer so that the real owner could not return it (through communication with American support, specific suggestions for copy-paste and a link to an online translator are provided) .

I see several problems with Electronic Arts / Origin / Dice.
1) No security question in the fields when registering or changing account data.
2) No confirmation code request when changing the mailing address from the old mailing address
3) Availability of the ability to recover a password by e-mail, which has already been replaced in the system. This worked to my advantage, but no one is stopping an attacker from taking advantage of this bug now, because his e-mail address was also in this account.
4) The procedure for changing the password after the main action for some reason leaves you in your account, this also worked into my hands, but it can also work for an attacker.
4) Inability to use the service after account recovery, probably this is more to do with Dice.

Be careful and hopefully you won't need the above information. For now, I want to study how fellow businessmen who make money from this do it.

If you have forgotten your Origin account password, don't know the answer to your security question, or are faced with the fact that attackers have stolen your account, then you have two ways to correct the situation. First of all, you need to try to recover your password via email. If this does not help, or you probably know that the profile is in the hands of scammers, you need to contact technical support.

Password recovery

Let's start with a simple password recovery, which does not require answering a security question or contacting technical support. So, the user has forgotten the Origin account key, what should he do:

A message with a link will be sent by email. By clicking on it, the user can reset the password that he forgot. After resetting the key, you need to come up with and write a new cipher twice to regain access to your account.

If the letter does not arrive in the mail, make sure you enter the correct address on the recovery form. In addition, you need to check the Spam folder in your mailbox. It is recommended that you add EA Technical Support to your email contact list.

Restoring a stolen account

Password recovery usually goes without problems, but what to do if your Origin account is stolen. If your account has been hacked, you need to contact technical support. This applies to several cases:

  • Account data was lost as a result of hacking.
  • The security question and answer have been changed by an attacker.
  • The attached e-mail is replaced by the hacker with another address.

Additionally, you should contact technical support if you have problems changing your account information. If you forgot your secret question, want to change it or set a different answer, then you won’t be able to do it without the help of specialists.

To communicate with technical support, you must log in to Origin. Since your account has been hacked, you will have to register a new profile or use the account of another person who is willing to provide you with login information.

Depending on the game, platform and country of residence, communication methods may vary. For example, to restore access to Need For Speed on PS4 or FIFA16 on PC, you need to call the technical support service at the specified number. Sometimes you can use email to contact a support specialist to reset your password.

The difficulty of restoring a stolen profile is that an attacker can change all personal data in the profile, from email to security question, in a short time.

Therefore, prepare in advance the license key of the purchased game so that, if necessary, you can prove that you really made the purchase and have now become a victim of scammers.

Using chat

In the English version of the support site, you can enter Live Chat, where you can conduct a real-time dialogue with a specialist. This method is faster than sending an application or calling a number that only works during the day.

The answer will have to wait. When the specialist is ready to communicate, his name will appear. Describe the problem, provide the Origin ID and e-mail to which the account was linked. A support specialist can confirm with you the date of birth specified when registering your account. If you don't remember what you wrote when you created your account, it will be difficult to regain access. Invite him to provide the license key for some installed game or other information that will help identify you as the account owner.
