Many people love computer games, and it is especially pleasant to play them with friends. This raises the question: how to play with friends online? There is a useful utility for this called “Hamachi”. Let's figure out how to play through Hamachi.

About games

All games and applications are created with a generally similar interface. This is done so that players do not have to deal with new nuances and controls in each game, but can immediately begin gameplay.

Games can be divided into three such types:

  1. Licensed games that need to be purchased with money. Such games provide the opportunity to play online and connect to official servers.
  2. Hacked games that, most likely, you won’t be able to play online, but only complete the main offline missions.
  3. Older games that don't require keys or registration, but can only be played over a local network.

And as you might guess, it is the last two types of games that are much more popular among Russian players. And in order to be able to play with friends online, just you will need Hamachi.

About Hamachi

Hamachi is a utility that allows you to create a virtual private network(VPN) for multiple players. Any applications running over a local network can also run through Hamachi. Data will be transferred directly between computers.

Other Hamachi Features:

  • bypassing the protection of games that were released 5 or more years ago;
  • the opportunity to play online in projects that do not have official servers;
  • availability of chat;
  • the ability to create networks in unlimited quantities;

Installation

In order to play through Hamachi, you will need:

  • Download from the official website and install LogMeIn Hamachi.
  • Complete a registration that will not cause problems for frequent visitors to all kinds of registration sites.
  • Next, you need to either create your own server or join an existing one. For now, let's look at creating our own server.
  • Log in to Hamachi, select the “Network” menu and click the “Create” button new network».
  • Come up with a name and enter it in the “Identifier” field.
  • The number of participants who can connect is limited and a total of five users can connect. Therefore, it is worth setting the “Require confirmation” option when a new player connects.
  • Set the password required to connect to the created network.
  • Click the “Create” button.
  • Now we add participants. First you need to connect your own computer to the network, and then give your friends an ID and password so that they can also connect.
  • To connect to the network, you need to log in to the program, click “Connect” and fill out the fields in the pop-up window.

If five participants in Hamachi are not enough, you can pay a subscription and expand the number of participants to 256.

Example

Let's look at connecting via Hamachi using Unturned as an example:

  1. We launch and go to Hamachi.
  2. All players log into one created network.
  3. Launch the Unturned client.
  4. The future server creates a single player game.
  5. After which the one who creates the server presses ESC and makes the game available for local users. An IP address will appear in the dialog box, which you need to send to friends.
  6. The remaining players select “Multiplayer” and click “Add”.
  7. In the dialog box you need to enter the address received from the server.

Possible problems

Even if, it would seem, all the settings for creating a network were done correctly, sometimes players are unable to connect.

Most often, errors occur when trying to connect, and the problem in such a situation is most likely that users of the same network do not see each other.

Each error has its own solutions, but in order to prevent some of them, you can perform a number of specific actions:

  1. Go to the “Control Panel” and click on the “Network and Sharing Management” section.
  2. From the list, select the connection that Hamachi uses and click “Properties”.
  3. In the pop-up window, select the line “Internet Protocol Version 4” and click “Properties”.
  4. After this, a settings window will open, which will contain the IP address. It must be registered with the following value: 192.168.1.1.
  5. This must be done by both the server and all those who will connect. The last digit in the value will change. So, the server will have 1, the next user will have 2, and so on in increasing order. Each user must have their own number.
  6. Also, all participants must enter the “Subnet Mask” – 255.255.0.0.

Players also often encounter the problem “LAN servers are restricted to local clients”. To solve it you need:

  • open the program and see your IP;
  • compare your IP address and that of the user who logged into the network;
  • if the first two elements in the user's address are not the same as yours, then they should be replaced;
  • to change the IP you need to right-click on the user and select the “Advanced” menu;
  • in the line “Peer VPN Alias” we enter the first two positions from your IP.

How cool it is to play with friends online, go through exciting missions together or compete for championship in battles, but sometimes due to Internet connection settings, users cannot configure the option correctly network game. A useful Hamachi utility has been developed for this purpose. Let's look in more detail at how to play through Hamachi in any application.

The utility allows you to combine users from different networks

Hamachi is a compact utility that provides great capabilities for creating a VPN. Five people can connect to a network of this type, which significantly increases the enjoyment of the game process. VPN has the same parameters as a standard local network. Users from different networks, having installed such a tool, will be able to play with each other. Information is directly transferred between devices.

Other features:

  • bypassing the protection of applications released more than 5 years ago (you will no longer have to waste money on purchasing license keys);
  • You can even play projects online for which no official servers have been developed;
  • convenient chat;
  • unlimited number of networks;
  • ping check;
  • possibility of purchasing an extended version.

Options

First, download the tool from the manufacturer's website. There is no need to pay for this, you just need to go through simple registration. To understand how to play through Hamachi, follow these steps:

  • launch the application;
  • go to “Create a new network” in the “Network” menu item;
  • come up with a name and fill out the “Identifier” field;
  • enter keyword in the “Password” line;
  • click on “Create”.

This will allow you to create a new network for playing together with a friend. If you want everything to work out, you need to install the same versions of the game on both PCs, as well as the same Hamachi distributions. In fact, there are no more than a dozen options that even the youngest user can figure out.

If you want to create a large network for all your friends, you can pay for the version for 256 addresses.

So, having created a new network for the game, the other player must be able to connect to it correctly. After starting the program, he will need to click on “Connect”, and then fill in the fields with a password and name.

We strongly recommend that you enter this information carefully, as the password is case sensitive. If there were no errors when entering, the system will skip you and connect you to the group. The main window of the utility will display the name of the network and a list of users currently connected.

All questions and nuances can be discussed before the game in the convenient Hamachi chat.

Game

The utility setup is complete, what to do next? Of course, launch the game! One of the users will need to create a local game in the gaming application (many games designed for network use have this option). The rest of the players will then be able to connect to the “server” and enjoy the gameplay.

Important tip: When connecting, use the IP address provided in the Hamachi application.

Possible problems

Players often get the error “LAN servers are restricted to local clients.” The issue can be resolved using this method:

Results

As you can see, the utility makes it possible to quickly set up a connection between PCs for joint play, even if they are located in different parts of the world. If the application you are interested in has a “Local Play” option, this means that Hamachi will become a faithful companion for it. Quality and connection speed are important factors for a high-quality game, since with a low ping the connection may be interrupted. In some cases, the user will see what is happening on the screen with a slight delay. Disabling will help solve the problem third party programs, exit the browser or purchase more favorable tariff at the provider.

To make sure whether it was really possible to play Minecraft with a friend via Hamachi over the network, I specifically downloaded a demo version of the game from the official website and tried to play it myself. It turned out to be very simple, the setup did not take much time, I prepared instructions, following all the steps of which you will be able to play Minecraft through Hamachi (or rather, through the virtual local network that the program creates).

Step 1

Launch Hamachi (download latest version program is possible) and create a new virtual network. To do this, launch the program and click on the “ Turn on».

Click on the button " Create a new network»or select this item through the top menu.

Create a network ID (it must be unique) and a password (remember it!), and click " Create».

Step 2

Launch the Minecraft launcher and click the " Play" I show on the demo version:

In the game, press the " ESC" and click on the button " Open for the web».

In the next window, click on " Open the world to the network».

After this, information will appear that the local server is running on the port " number such and such" Write down the port number; if you don’t do this, you won’t be able to play Minecraft via Hamachi with a friend (he will need the port number when connecting).

Step 3

Your friend should now connect to you. He needs to launch Hamachi (register in it if he has not done so before), click on the button Turn on»

and through the menu select “ Net» - « Connect to an existing network».

In the window that opens, he needs to enter your network ID and password (tell him this data).

Once it connects, it needs to copy your IP address from the Hamachi window. To do this, right-click on your login and select “ Copy IPv4 address».

After that, to see the copied IP address, paste it into any text editor.

Step 4

Now everything is ready to play Minecraft using Hamachi. Your friend needs to launch the game and connect to you. To do this, through the menu, let him go to “ Network game» - « Direct connection" and enter the copied IP address and, separated by a colon, the port that was shown in the launcher when creating a local server (instructions). The entry must be in the format IP:port.

This article describes the process of playing online with a friend, through hamachi. If you are interested in other information, for example, how to play Minecraft online on servers, then follow the link.

So, the easiest way to play Minecraft with a friend is to use the Hamachi program. With this program you will not have problems opening ports, that is, you do not need any sysadmin skills. The program is free, you can download it here - hamachi.ru.softonic.com/download. Download and install it on both computers.

1st player

1. Run the Hamachi program on the first computer, turn it on:

2. Create a network. Enter any name, password, confirm password:

3. Log into Minecraft and start the game in single player mode. In the game, press the “Escape” keys on your keyboard - “Open for the network” - “Open the world for the network.”

Remember the port that the game gave you via chat - “ Local server works at the port...” We need to pass this port to the second player, but first he must receive an IP address.

2nd player

4. Launch the Hamachi program on the second computer, click “Network - Connect to an existing network”, enter the network name and password that the first player created in step 2.

4. Copy the IPV4 address and paste it into notepad, after the address without a space we put a colon (:) and add the port number that the 1st player gave us after completing the 3rd step, for example, you get the following address: 25.71.185.70:54454

5. Go to Minecraft, “Network game” - “Direct connection” and enter IP: Port.

Video

If you still have difficulties, then you can play on public servers, their address can be found on the server page, as well. Here you only need to copy the ready-made server address for your version and you can start playing.
